Chapter 100: Don't Say You're Flattered

~8 min read 1,523 words

At night, the dinner party organized by Qi Jing was still ongoing; Yuan Fengye offered a toast to Sheng Yu, but was blocked by Sheng Yu.

"What time is it?"

"Nine o'clock." Qi Jing glanced at the time.

Sheng Yu lifted his eyelids to look at him, "Don't you need to go home to coax your child to sleep?"

Qi Jing's wife ran off after the child turned one hundred days old, and the child had slept with Qi Jing since he was small.

He had experienced the child's colic, waking up the moment he was put down, and sleep regression; for a time, a man in his early twenties was worn down to look like someone in his thirties or forties.

Otherwise, Sheng Yu wouldn't have known about the trouble of a child waking up the moment they are put down.

"It's no bother, he's grown a bit bigger recently and can sleep on his own."

But after Qi Jing finished this sentence, he realized belatedly: since when did Sheng Yu care so much about his child's sleep? Wasn't this just a roundabout way of reminding him, the host, that the dinner party could end?

Truth be told, Sheng Yu had respect for this brother of his, but not much.

He smiled knowingly and said, "I don't know if he'll cry, I'd better go home and check. It's not early anymore, let's all call it a night."

Yuan Fengye held a glass of wine in mid-air; how could it end so suddenly?

Couldn't he have given him a heads-up beforehand?

It made his toast so awkward.

He had no choice but to finish the wine in his glass; he didn't know why everyone was going back so early!

Yu Ge was in a bad mood last night, and to cheer him up today, he had arranged a program for later and even canceled his date with his younger sister.

But just as he was about to speak, Qi Jing pulled him back, "Yu Ge clearly has something on his mind, shut up."

Situ opened the car door, Sheng Yu sat in, picked up a bottle of water, twisted off the cap, and drank more than half of it in one breath.

Not long after the car drove off, the bottle of water was empty.

His mouth still felt spicy.

"Young Master Sheng, are you going to the Theater to pick up Miss Zhu?" Situ didn't ask where he was going back to; after all, the timing of ending the dinner party was very subtle.

The man picked up another bottle of water and hummed in agreement.

The car stopped at the back door of the Theater, and Sheng Yu took out his phone to send a text message.

It was over half an hour later before he saw the woman hurrying toward them from the back door through the car window.

The wind blew the stray hair on her forehead, and her small, unadorned face looked somewhat unreal under the dim streetlights.

A car drove past her, blocking his view.

Sheng Yu frowned slightly; the next second the car drove away, and her face appeared before his eyes again.

Only then did the man's brow relax.

The car door opened, and before Zhu Yuan could sit in, she heard the man say coldly, "You've got some nerve, making me wait for you?"

"I'm sorry, I was rehearsing and didn't notice the time. As soon as I saw the message and grabbed my things, I came right out," Zhu Yuan hurriedly explained in a low voice.

In the front seat, Situ heard this and silently raised the partition.

Sheng Yu examined her face through the light shining into the car; she had indeed run out immediately, as she hadn't even had time to wipe the sweat from her forehead.

After that run, the wind blew, and the sweat had turned cold.

The man suddenly leaned in close, and Zhu Yuan's body stiffened. She smelled the faint scent of alcohol on him and nervously clenched her fingers until she felt something gently brush against her forehead.

She was stunned.

Sheng Yu was using a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from her forehead; his movements were unexpectedly gentle, shocking Zhu Yuan so much she didn't know where to look.

"Does having your sweat wiped make you this nervous?" The man's voice was low, his large palm pressing against the back of her head to keep her from moving.

Zhu Yuan forced herself to stay calm, sitting obediently and letting him wipe her sweat. She swallowed with difficulty and explained, "It's not nervousness."

Sheng Yu gave a cold hum: "Don't say you're flattered."

Zhu Yuan's eyelashes trembled a few times, her gaze drifting before finally landing on the man's sexy Adam's apple, then quickly moving away.

Once Sheng Yu finished wiping her sweat, he reached out to undo her clothes.

"I'm covered in sweat." Zhu Yuan was startled and raised her hands to block him, pushing against the man's chest.

The man paused and lowered his eyes to glare at her, "What did you think I was going to do?"

Sheng Yu quickly unbuttoned her coat and reached inside from the collar at the back of her neck with the handkerchief; only then did Zhu Yuan realize he was going to wipe the sweat off her back.

Yet she felt this was even more frightening and nerve-wracking than the man wanting to do that sort of thing with her.

The man's nails were trimmed clean and neat, but in the process of wiping her sweat, it was inevitable that his nails would scrape against her skin.

It was itchy and numb.

At first, Zhu Yuan could endure it, but she didn't know if Sheng Yu was doing it on purpose; when her body tensed up as his nails grazed her back, he deliberately slowed down.

Her body tensed in waves, her fingers unconsciously gripping his collar.

Later, the handkerchief was replaced by his entire warm palm, wiping from her back to her chest.

"Sheng Yu... mm!"

The man pinched her chin and kissed her lips.

Under the towering streetlights, cars drove by, and the light fell into the carriage, illuminating the woman's gradually reddening cheeks.

Zhu Yuan pushed at Sheng Yu, and when she felt the man's displeased, low panting, she said in a soft voice, "I haven't been to the hospital to stay with Grandpa for two nights in a row; I want to go over tonight."

This tactic was very effective; the man stopped his kissing.

Sheng Yu was tall, and there was plenty of space in his vehicle, so he easily picked her up and placed her on his lap.

His thumb brushed over her bitten-red lips, and he said hoarsely, "Zhu Jingyao has invented a technology in prison; I have already had people arrange to apply for a patent. Once it passes, he can logically have his sentence reduced."

A light ignited in Zhu Yuan's eyes, which were as moist as spring rain.

Zhu Jingyao was an aerospace engineer, and he knew a lot about systematic engineering.

Zhu Yuan didn't find it strange that he would invent technology and apply for a patent; he had done so before.

Because she knew how much trouble it would be, she said with some worry, "A patent isn't that easy to apply for; will it be able to pass?"

Sheng Yu pinched her chin, "The key to whether it can pass doesn't lie with Zhu Jingyao, nor does it lie with me."

Zhu Yuan's heart tightened inch by inch as his words fell.

The fact that Sheng Yu suddenly took the initiative to help her arrange things for her brother was inseparable from her staying at the villa to accompany him last night, and that bowl of Changshoumian this morning.

She had indeed deliberately curried favor with him for her brother's sake, because she knew what Sheng Yu wanted.

He wanted her to be well-behaved, obedient, and submissive.

Her hands, which had been pushing against the man's shoulders, slowly loosened.

Zhu Yuan's eyelashes trembled slightly; she lowered her eyes to stare at Sheng Yu's thin lips and unconsciously bit her own lower lip.

Sheng Yu stared at her face the entire time, watching her reaction, and the moment she bit her soft lower lip, his eyes darkened as if they were an abyss capable of devouring everything.

A large hand clasped the back of her head to press her lips against his; Sheng Yu's breathing grew heavy, and he kissed her insistently.

Zhu Yuan opened her eyes, her gaze filled with nervousness and panic; she looked at the man's face so close to her own, and upon realizing he was about to take further action, she pushed against his chest with both hands.

The man took the opportunity to land kisses on her neck, and she gasped, "I, I'm on my period."

Sheng Yu's movements paused, and where Zhu Yuan could not see, his eyes were as dark as drops of ink.

He raised his eyes and looked at her meaningfully, "Is it really here?"
