Chapter 112: Calling someone a
A taxi stopped near the Zhu Family Villa area.
A woman wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a face mask stepped out of the car.
Not until the taxi drove away did the woman pull off her mask.
Under the cold streetlights in the drizzling rain, Zhu An'an took off her sunglasses and hat, tossing everything into a trash can by the roadside.
She fished her phone out of her pocket and let out a sneer.
Although she had deleted the video Zhu Yuan sent to her father's WeChat, the original was still on Zhu Yuan's phone; as long as she deleted all of those, her parents would never know she had done those things.
Even if Zhu Yuan confronted her later, as long as she stubbornly refused to admit it, her parents would always stand on her side.
It was just that she had specifically chosen the weekend when the theater was crowded, and she hadn't expected to be nearly discovered while sneaking into the dressing room to steal Zhu Yuan's phone.
That dead girl named Ji Xiang had chased her relentlessly, and then she heard Ning Chu's voice coming from around the corner, so she could only seize the chance to hide in a corner and wait until there was no one left to leave.
She hadn't expected to witness such a thrilling show.
Back then, Ning Chu had splashed water all over her face and even disdained to cooperate with her, but now, in her attempt to be clever and deal with Zhu Yuan, she had ended up running right into Sheng Yu's line of fire.
It was truly fitting retribution!
Had she known Ning Chu was that stupid, she would never have gone to find her and brought such humiliation upon herself.
The rain began to grow heavier, and Zhu An'an hunched her shoulders, hurrying back toward the Zhu Family Villa.
When she returned home, the lights were still on in the living room.
Zhu An'an was surprised to see Feng Mingyue sitting on the sofa, looking at something in her hands.
She took a dry towel handed to her by the nanny, wiped the rainwater from her hair and shoulders, and tossed the towel back to the nanny.
"Mom, what are you doing?"
A floor lamp was lit beside the sofa, and Feng Mingyue was holding an exquisite but somewhat aged notebook; hearing this, she raised her eyes to look at Zhu An'an, and upon seeing her hair was all wet, she frowned, "Why did you get caught in the rain?"
"Don't you know your body is weak? How could you get caught in the rain? What if you catch a cold or get a fever?" She hurriedly reached out to pull Zhu An'an, grasping her cold little hand.
Zhu An'an didn't take it to heart and picked up the notebook she had set down, "What is this?"
Feng Mingyue smiled and said, "I went to the storage room this evening to look for something and discovered the pregnancy diary I wrote back when I was carrying you. I had nothing to do, so I took it out to look through, and I didn't expect to have been reading it for so long."
She had forgotten about this notebook for so many years; only after flipping through it did she remember that when she was pregnant, the fetus in her womb was very considerate of her hardships, and the entire pregnancy had gone smoothly without her suffering much.
Zhu An'an opened the first page, where Feng Mingyue had recorded the date and pasted an image cut from an ultrasound scan.
Page after page, they were all records of Feng Mingyue's mood during pregnancy and her expectations for the baby.
She suddenly clenched her fingers, and a wave of bitterness and jealousy welled up in her heart.
This baby full of expectations was not her.
It was Zhu Yuan.
She turned her head to look at Feng Mingyue, whose gaze had also fallen on that paper cutout of the image, her fingers trembling as she stroked it; the soft light of the floor lamp shone on her face, illuminating the guilt in her eyes.
"I miss Yuanyuan a little."
The sound of drizzling rain outside the window.
The rain fell on and off all night, and by dawn, the temperature in Jingdu City had dropped by several degrees, with the gray light of day faintly seeping through the gaps in the curtains.
Sheng Yu opened his eyes and stared at the person in his arms who had changed sleeping positions countless times throughout the night.
At this moment, Zhu Yuan's head was resting on his arm, her left hand—wearing the bracelet—was tightly clutching the clothes on his chest, one slender leg was hooked between his legs for him to pin down, her hair was a mess, the hem of her pajamas was hiked up, and she had even unbuttoned one of the buttons at her collar at some point.
Aside from not drooling, it was a sight too painful to look at.
Once the fever broke, she started showing her true colors.
Suddenly, a faint snoring sound came, and Sheng Yu, disgusted, pinched her petite nose.
Zhu Yuan, in her sleep, struggled uncomfortably and suddenly opened her bleary, large eyes; abruptly meeting Sheng Yu's handsome face so close at hand, her breath hitched, and her face flushed bright red.
Sheng Yu frowned, let go of her nose, and instinctively touched her forehead.
The moment his hand touched her forehead, Zhu Yuan's body stiffened, unable to move.
Her eyes darted around, and she hurriedly grabbed his hand down, her voice hoarse, "The fever is gone."
"It certainly shouldn't keep burning," the man said leisurely, "or you'll end up stupid."
Zhu Yuan let go of his hand and suddenly noticed the bracelet on her left wrist, pausing in surprise.
If not for the lingering soreness in her body—she didn't know if it was a reaction to the high fever or from being tossed about by Sheng Yu's special "fever-reducing" method—she would have almost thought that Ning Chu tearing the bracelet apart last night was just a dream.
She climbed up from the bed, touching the bracelet with great affection.
Sheng Yu watched the corners of her mouth curl up with deep, inscrutable eyes, "You treasure it that much?"
Zhu Yuan nodded.
"Then protect it well. If there's a next time, no one will help you string it back together."
The man pulled back the quilt and got out of bed, as if he didn't realize how much impact that sentence had on Zhu Yuan.
She looked at Sheng Yu's back in disbelief, an absurd thought surging into her mind; she opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.
Last night, the moment the man returned all eighteen red beads to her, the feeling of uncontrollable surging emotions washed over her heart once again.
Sheng Yu pulled open the bedroom door, and Feiyuan trotted in on its short legs, wagging its tail; it first raised its round head to look at Sheng Yu, let out a whimper, and then wagged its tail as it ran to the bedside.
It looked up at Zhu Yuan, its short legs hopping.
On the bed and off the bed, both the big one and the small one were heartless!
Sheng Yu gave a cold snort, "The little white-eyed wolf has come to find you."
Zhu Yuan got out of bed and scooped Feiyuan into her arms; hearing the man's words, her heart beat fast, and she whispered, "It's not a white-eyed wolf. It knows who is good to it."
"Then tell me, what exactly does it know?" The man leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, his gaze falling wantonly on her face.
As she went to nuzzle her nose against Feiyuan's snout, his gaze darkened; he strode over and lifted Feiyuan out of her arms.
"Hey..." Zhu Yuan hurriedly stood up to snatch Feiyuan back, but the high fever from the whole night left her feeling dizzy, and as soon as she stood up, she felt the world spin before her eyes.
Sheng Yu tossed Feiyuan aside and pulled her into his arms, his expression ugly, "You like touching the little white-eyed wolf that much?"
Nose tip against nose tip, such an intimate gesture!
Zhu Yuan caught her breath, clenching her fists in defiance; calling her a little ingrate over and over, who was he pointing at?
Seeing that she couldn't squeeze out a single word for a long time, Sheng Yu let out a cold scoff, released her waist, pressed her down to sit on the edge of the bed, and turned to walk outside.
Walking to the doorway, he suddenly heard the woman's soft voice, tinged with a trace of panic, come from behind: "Thank you."
