Chapter 118: Kiss Me Once, and I
A fine drizzle fell, and Situ opened a large black umbrella.
Shrouded in shadow, Sheng Yu's brows and eyes grew increasingly profound, the deep, cold color in his black eyes slowly receding, and he gave a low hum.
Not far away, the car intercepted by Dong Shu's men and Sheng Yu's men had its occupants stepping out one after another, all of them being subdued on the ground.
Sheng Yu swept a glance across the curtain of rain.
There were people he recognized.
They had followed Sheng Hongyao.
Dong Shu followed his gaze and looked as well, her brows sinking slightly.
"Let me have a word with Zhu Yuan." She withdrew her gaze and reached for the car door.
Sheng Yu interrupted her indifferently, "She was frightened and is not seeing anyone."
His unhurried tone, however, carried an irresistible pressure.
An intense possessiveness.
Her hand stiffened; raindrops clung to her black leather jacket, making her look as if she had been frozen solid.
"Fair enough, I'll go find her another day." Dong Shu smiled and withdrew her hand.
At this moment, the car door opened from the inside.
Zhu Yuan slowly raised her eyes, a wisp of rain drifting into the carriage; she squinted slightly, her lazy and charming appearance looking exactly like a little fox that had just entered the mortal world.
"Get in." Sheng Yu reached out to push her head, wanting to stuff her back into the car.
However, he did not use much force, so Zhu Yuan easily broke free.
She looked at Dong Shu, whose neat short hair was soaked by the rain outside the car door, and said with a smile, "Thank you, Dong Shu. Enzo, please get Miss Dong an umbrella."
As her words fell, Enzo did not hesitate in the slightest and turned to get an umbrella from the car.
Situ frowned silently.
This Enzo, Miss Zhu's words were now more effective than Young Master Yu's.
How could Enzo have changed so much in just one morning?
It was as if he had been brainwashed by Miss Zhu.
He really was a simple-minded blockhead.
Dong Shu quietly sized up Sheng Yu beside her; faced with Zhu Yuan ordering his subordinate around, not only was he not the least bit displeased, but his brows even lifted slightly when Zhu Yuan spoke.
He had completely acquiesced.
Enzo came over holding the large umbrella and stood beside Dong Shu.
There was not a ripple on Dong Shu's face as she looked at Zhu Yuan with soft eyes, "There is no need for thanks between you and me. I'm just glad you're alright; you scared me to death just now."
"Why didn't you answer any of my calls?"
Zhu Yuan subconsciously reached for her pocket, then realized, "I was at the theater and forgot to take it."
Dong Shu nodded, "Since you're fine, I'll head back first and come see you another day."
"Alright." Zhu Yuan smiled at her.
In such gloomy, rainy weather, this smile was as dazzling as could be.
Sheng Yu's expression darkened; he reached out again to press down on Zhu Yuan's head, pushed her into the carriage, then sat in himself and closed the door.
He shut everyone else out of the car.
Dong Shu shoved her hands into her pockets, her fingertips gripping her palms tightly, and she turned back to her car with a normal expression.
The Dong Family's car drove away, and Situ stayed behind to handle the aftermath.
In the quiet carriage, Enzo opened the driver's side door, sat in, and then started the car.
Suddenly realizing something, he raised the partition inside the car.
Just kidding, Miss Zhu had survived a disaster; Young Master Yu had better coax her properly.
Was this something he was meant to watch?
Zhu Yuan felt completely uncomfortable, always feeling as if Sheng Yu had become a different person.
Could it be that because she had almost met with an accident, his heart had softened?
This did not seem like his usual style of doing things.
She simply continued to ignore him; she still remembered his words about her gifting Pei Ling a present this time and offering herself up next time.
Sheng Yu just watched the woman quietly as she stubbornly held her ground. After a while, seeing her still looking out the car window, he good-naturedly turned her face back.
Her chin was held by a warm hand; Zhu Yuan's heart softened abruptly, yet she kept a cold face.
"What did you mean earlier when you said I looked better than that guy surnamed Pei and was more attractive than him?" The man's voice was somewhat hoarse.
Zhu Yuan was stunned; she didn't know if it was her imagination, but she felt that when Sheng Yu said this, there was a hint of probing in his tone.
She frowned, "Is Young Master Yu trying to continue arguing with me?"
"I told you to answer, so answer."
Zhu Yuan cursed in her heart, *Who do you think you are? You say answer and I have to answer? *
Thinking this, her mouth nevertheless said, "I forgot."
Sheng Yu's jaw tightened, "You really forgot?"
After having argued once, Zhu Yuan realized she had been too impulsive.
Not to mention anything else, her brother's affairs still required Sheng Yu's help; no matter how much pride she had, she could not use her brother's affairs to act out of spite.
She softened her voice and explained, "I had a fever last night, and my brain wasn't working very well. If I said anything that made you..."
Suddenly, the hand pinching her chin tightened its grip sharply.
Zhu Yuan only felt a pain in her chin.
The man's scorching kiss fell, impatiently wanting to block her words; not a single word coming out of this mouth was something he wanted to hear.
"Don't..."
Zhu Yuan was kissed until she retreated step by step, her body softening in the corner of the carriage, and she hurriedly pushed him away, "My fever hasn't fully recovered yet; I'll infect you."
"We've already slept together, would I be afraid of kissing?"
Sheng Yu pinched her chin to lift her face, kissed past the corner of her mouth, sucked on her lower lip, and easily pried open her teeth.
Kissing her until her cheeks were flushed, he cupped her face and stared into her eyes, which had been moistened by his kisses, "If I get infected, so be it; at worst, we'll die together."
This last sentence sent ripples of increasing intensity through the lake of Zhu Yuan's heart.
It left her mind in a daze, her soul falling into a vast abyss.
Zhu Yuan was picked up by him and placed on his lap, his large palm cupping the back of her head, feeling that her body was no longer as stiff or trembling as before.
That encirclement just now had terrified her, and it had equally terrified him.
His fingers threaded into her hairline, gently and soothingly kneading it.
Zhu Yuan's hair had been tousled by him during the process of his kissing her, with a few stray strands clinging to her cheeks, inexplicably alluring.
The man's Adam's apple bobbed up and down, his hoarse voice carrying a hint of bewitching coaxing.
"Kiss me once, and I'll forgive you for that gift you sent to the one surnamed Pei."
Zhu Yuan felt her heart sinking inch by inch, and she was terrified of this feeling.
She tried her best to look away, but the large hand on the back of her head controlled her, his deep gaze fixed on her face, causing her reason to collapse completely.
The moment she lowered her head, Sheng Yu chuckled softly and accepted her active yet slightly clumsy kiss.
Zhu Yuan's eyelashes were trembling violently.
She couldn't tell at all whether it was because she wanted to save her brother or simply wanted to coax him into a good mood.
The car drove slowly, and the rain gradually grew heavier.
Zhu Yuan returned to the hospital to stay with Ji Xiang, only to find out that Sheng Yu had arranged a caregiver for her.
Ji Xiang held Zhu Yuan's hand with a moved expression, "I finally understand the feeling of 'when one person attains the Dao, their chickens and dogs ascend to heaven'."
"Why act like a chicken or a dog when you're a perfectly good person?" Zhu Yuan looked for her phone to check the time.
Ji Xiang huffed, then suddenly remembered something, her expression changing, "That's right, Xiao Fengzheng, your phone was stolen!"
Zhu Yuan looked at him, her eyes calm and without a single ripple.
