Chapter 121: Do Not Contact Each Other Ever Again
Feeling the temperature and strength of the man's palm, Zhu Yuan froze.
How did he come here?
However, before she could stand up to ask Sheng Yu to leave, Grandfather coughed a few times; having vomited blood earlier, his voice was hoarse.
"Yuanyuan?" He looked at Zhu Yuan with bloodshot eyes, wanting her to give him an explanation.
Zhu Yuan stood up anxiously, gently stroking Zhu Qi's chest.
She turned her head and silently shook it at Sheng Yu, hoping he would leave first.
Although she did not know exactly what Grandfather had heard, she could roughly guess it was related to those rumors about her.
Since it was those matters, it naturally could not be separated from Sheng Yu.
Grandfather had vomited blood just from hearing about it; he could not be stimulated any further.
Seeing Zhu Yuan looking like she was going crazy with worry, Sheng Yu narrowed his eyes slightly, and his hands hanging at his sides slowly clenched.
Just as he lifted his foot, Zhu Qi on the hospital bed said hoarsely, "You are Sheng Yu?"
With such bearing and appearance, he could not guess a second name.
Sheng Yu gave a low, affirmative hum: "I am Sheng Yu, Zhu Lao Xiansheng."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Qi coughed a few times, his tone distant and indifferent, "I thank President Sheng for lending Yuanyuan money to treat my illness. However, I have no business dealings with President Sheng, nor any personal friendship; I truly cannot bear for you to have come here in person. Please return, President Sheng."
Situ, who was following behind Sheng Yu, had a flicker in his eyes.
No one had ever dared to order Young Master Yu to leave.
"Grandfather..." Zhu Yuan spoke in a panic; Grandfather was in a fit of anger, and she was worried he would say something that might offend Sheng Yu.
She knew Sheng Yu tolerated her because he liked her, but she was not narcissistic enough to think he could tolerate her family as well.
Zhu Qi, however, held onto Zhu Yuan's hand; despite being weak, his tone was resonant, "With Grandfather here, no one can bully my granddaughter."
But Zhu Yuan did not want Grandfather to face these things; she pulled her hand away from Zhu Qi's and grabbed Sheng Yu's sleeve, but her hand slipped and she grabbed his hand directly.
Just as she was about to pull her hand back, the warm, large hand she had grabbed suddenly wrapped around hers.
Zhu Yuan's heartbeat fluttered; she pursed her lips and pulled Sheng Yu out of the ward.
And Sheng Yu simply let her do as she pleased.
As soon as the ward door closed, she saw Sheng Yu's cold face and hurriedly said, "My grandfather has a stubborn temper, please don't be angry."
Sheng Yu's expression darkened further, "Afraid I'll lay a hand on your grandfather?"
Zhu Yuan was just conditioned to it after being threatened by him so many times.
But she was afraid that if she said these things, Sheng Yu would be even angrier.
She had to say, "I'm afraid Grandfather won't be able to accept the relationship between you and me."
Sheng Yu narrowed his eyes, his gaze as deep and thick as ink that could not be dissolved, "You used to insist that we were in a debt relationship, and you've already repaid me the five hundred thousand; what kind of relationship are we now?"
Zhu Yuan only wanted to get back into the room to explain to Grandfather, so she blurted out, "Let's call it a parasitic relationship."
Just as she started to walk back, the man grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"I'll give you one more chance to answer."
He seemed obsessively determined to get an answer.
Zhu Yuan really could not wait any longer; she looked up at the man's displeased face, pondered for a few seconds, and suddenly stood on her tiptoes to kiss the corner of his lips.
Her eyes trembling, she pleaded, "Can I answer when I come back?"
Sheng Yu stared at her red, tear-stained eyes, the soft sensation at the corner of his lips fleeting.
The feeling of being teased without being finished was truly infuriating.
"You had better think it through carefully."
Zhu Yuan watched his back as he turned and left; her chest felt stifled, but the most urgent thing for her now was to go and soothe Grandfather.
Sheng Yu walked into the elevator.
Situ reported, "Enzo has already captured Zhu An'an; the Zhu Family is in a complete mess right now, and I estimate they will soon come begging to Miss Zhu."
The man said coldly, "Don't let them get near Zhu Yuan."
Coming to beg before Zhu Yuan—as if they were worthy.
"This public hospital is, after all, not under our direct watch. Today's incident was an accident; should we transfer Zhu Lao Xiansheng to another hospital?" Situ suggested.
Sheng Yu walked out of the elevator and lit a cigarette, "She wouldn't even accept a better ward, let alone my hospital."
He had mentioned transferring Zhu Qi to Qiao Mai's hospital, but she had refused him in several roundabout ways.
Returning to the ward, Zhu Yuan sat beside Zhu Qi and called out obediently, "Grandfather."
Seeing her hanging her head in an attitude of admitting her faults, Zhu Qi's eyes turned red with heartache, "How could Grandfather bear to scold you? It is Grandfather who has dragged you down and made you suffer so much."
"Grandfather, I haven't suffered."
Zhu Yuan clenched her fingers tightly and shook her head, but scenes she had almost forgotten flashed through her mind.
Sheng Yu's forceful seizure and coercion of her.
Zhu Qi opened his mouth to breathe, tears falling, "You are my granddaughter; do you think I can't tell even if you deny it?"
"Yuanyuan," the old man's voice was weak and trembling, "I know about the Lu Family and Sheng Yu."
Zhu Yuan's pupils shook, and her taut heartstrings snapped suddenly.
For so long, she had been fighting alone, not daring to tell Grandfather or her brother.
But suddenly being found out by her family, the strength she had feigned collapsed instantly, and feelings of grievance surged wildly into her heart.
Yet, she had only accidentally revealed a trace of emotion in front of her grandfather, and it caused the old man to cry out in heartache.
Zhu Qi hugged Zhu Yuan and wept, "It is Grandfather who has failed you, good child, it is Grandfather who has failed you."
His Yuanyuan should have lived freely and unrestrainedly, doing what she wanted to do, going where she wanted to go, and being her most authentic self.
Yet she had been dragged down by him, a sickly old man.
Zhu Yuan shook her head and wiped away the old man's tears, "It's not like that, Grandfather. I am not wronged by going to the Lu Family. Lu Huaizhan is very good; he treats me very well. He has never done anything to hurt me. He taught me how to write with a calligraphy brush, corrected my habit of swearing whenever I get angry, and regulated my daily routine. He is a good person."
Zhu Qi believed what Zhu Yuan said, "The Lu Family is good, but what about Sheng Yu?"
She only mentioned Lu Huaizhan, which showed that she had suffered grievances at Sheng Yu's hands, perhaps even immense grievances.
Thinking of those text messages Sheng Yu sent to Yuanyuan in an imperious tone, his heart ached uncontrollably.
"He..." Zhu Yuan's throat choked up.
Zhu Qi stroked Zhu Yuan's head, "Grandfather will find a way to pay back the money owed to him. Yuanyuan, Grandfather will not let you suffer any more grievances."
Even if he had to go scavenge for scrap to sell, accumulating it year by year, he would pay back Sheng Yu's money so that Sheng Yu would not continue to pester his granddaughter.
Zhu Yuan said, "Grandfather, I have already paid him back the five hundred thousand. Please rest assured, the money was taken from the Zhu Family; I did not go anywhere else to borrow it."
Hearing this, Zhu Qi said earnestly, "Since the debt is paid, do not have any more contact in the future. My Yuanyuan deserves the best man in this world."
