Chapter 182: Is it necessary to quit smoking when preparing for pregnancy?
After feeding Zhu Yuan the soybean paste noodles, Sheng Yu gave her a few instructions before heading to the company.
Zhu Yuan received a call from Zhu Qi; she used her fingers, wrapped in gauze, to swipe the screen and turn on the speakerphone.
"Yuanyuan, are you dating Sheng Yu?"
Such a direct opening.
Zhu Yuan's face burned, "Grandpa, how did you..."
"He chased me all the way home to bully me, and you still want to ask how I know?"
"What?" Zhu Yuan's heart skipped a beat, "He bullied you?"
"He played Chinese chess too ruthlessly, with no respect for his elders at all!" Zhu Qi said indignantly.
Zhu Yuan took a breath, but quickly realized, "He made me soybean paste noodles; did you teach him?"
She had only thought that Sheng Yu made them himself and that they happened to taste similar to her grandfather's, but she hadn't expected him to have actually made a trip to Yucheng.
That meant he had spent the entire day yesterday on flights between Jingdu City and Yucheng, as well as at her home.
He returned in the middle of the night, wore her out until dawn, and was now at the company.
This man, his stamina was truly astonishing!
Zhu Qi snorted, "Did you eat them?"
Zhu Yuan hummed in response.
Zhu Qi cleared his throat and asked her, "Are Grandpa's better, or are his better?"
The moment she heard this question, Zhu Yuan's mind buzzed; it was no less speechless than a man hearing, "If your mother and I both fell into the water, who would you save first?"
"Both are delicious."
"You can only pick one that is better."
How is Grandpa like a child!
Zhu Yuan hurriedly coaxed him, "Grandpa's are the best!"
Zhu Qi's lips curled up, "I knew it."
In the evening, Sheng Yu returned to have dinner with Zhu Yuan, and Zhu Yuan couldn't help but ask him, "Did you go to my house to play Chinese chess with my grandfather?"
"He lost and then complained?" Sheng Yu fed her a spoonful of soup.
Zhu Yuan fiddled with her gauze-wrapped hand and said, "Couldn't you have let him win?"
"Tell your grandfather that if you're bad at something, you need to practice more; a man in his seventies is at the perfect age to practice more."
Zhu Yuan looked at him speechlessly.
After dinner, Sheng Yu carried Zhu Yuan into the bathroom to shower her, saying with a straight face, "You too, if you're bad at something, you need to practice more."
Zhu Yuan, stripped bare by him, blushed, "I, how am I bad at it?"
"Calling it quits after more than twice in one night—isn't that bad?"
Sheng Yu pulled off his clothes, pinned Zhu Yuan's frostbitten hands above her head, and leaned down to kiss her.
The next day.
Sheng Yu was reviewing documents when he received a call from Yuan Fengye.
"Yu Ge, let's go out for a drink tonight."
"Not going." Sheng Yu refused him flatly.
Yuan Fengye let out an "ah," "Look at my memory, I forgot what day it is today; you must be spending Valentine's Day with your sister-in-law."
It wasn't that his memory was that poor, but rather that the fact that Sheng Yu was dating was so hard to comprehend that he subconsciously forgot he was in a relationship.
After all, with a personality like Sheng Yu's, how could he possibly know how to coax a woman?
Doesn't dating require knowing how to coax a woman?
Sheng Yu held his phone, frowning slightly, "Valentine's Day?"
"You don't know?"
Sheng Yu really didn't know.
He glanced at the calendar: February 14th.
"What do you do on Valentine's Day?" he asked Yuan Fengye, "You come over here..."
Forget it.
"You don't need to come over, I'll find Qi Jing."
But then, thinking of how Qi Jing's wife had run off, Sheng Yu rubbed his forehead.
Tsk, not a single one of them is reliable.
However, two hours later, both Yuan Fengye and Qi Jing appeared in Sheng Yu's office.
"Fresh flowers, gifts, and a presidential suite—the three-piece set is the standard for Valentine's Day," Yuan Fengye offered his experience.
Qi Jing frowned, "Don't share your methods for picking up girls with Yu Ge."
"Looking for death, are you?" Sheng Yu said coldly.
Yuan Fengye shrank his neck and whispered, "Then think about what your sister-in-law likes and cater to her preferences."
That sounded somewhat reliable.
Things she liked.
A scene flashed through Sheng Yu's mind: the day he picked up her phone at the entrance of the hotel dressing room.
A sentence on her phone's screensaver—So nervous, about to get rich.
Likes money?
Sheng Yu suddenly felt this was the easiest thing to handle; money, he had plenty of.
Seeing that he had made up his mind, Qi Jing asked him out of curiosity.
Sheng Yu took out his cigarette case, "I'll give her a card with no spending limit."
Qi Jing:...
"The thing is a good thing, but are you sure Zhu Yuan will like it?"
"I didn't say I was only giving her that." Sheng Yu curled his lips.
It seemed he really had a plan.
Qi Jing picked up his water glass and took a sip; Sheng Yu paused in the middle of lighting a cigarette.
"Do you have to quit smoking when preparing for pregnancy?"
As soon as his words were out, Qi Jing nearly choked, and Yuan Fengye looked at him in horror, "Yu Ge, what did you say?"
Sheng Yu tossed the cigarette case onto the coffee table, toying with a lighter between his fingers, "I suddenly want a child."
He wanted to marry her.
In the hospital room, Zhu Yuan held a small mirror, looking left and right; the frostbite on her face had healed a lot.
It looked much more pleasing to the eye.
Song Ci had gone to get busy, and Ji Xiang had to rehearse a play at the theater, as the troupe had assigned her a small role.
No one usually came by, and just as she was looking in the mirror, the hospital room door was suddenly opened from the outside.
She didn't have time to put the small mirror away and was caught red-handed by Sheng Yu.
"Y-you, why did you come back without saying a word."
Zhu Yuan guiltily tucked the mirror under her pillow.
Sheng Yu held a folder in his hand, closed the door behind him, and strode inside.
Seeing her embarrassed look at being caught, he couldn't help but find it amusing; he sat down beside her, gently pinched her chin, and lifted her face.
He looked at her carefully for a few moments, "Hmm, much more pleasing to the eye today."
Zhu Yuan: "... Didn't you say I wasn't ugly at all, and that I was your type? A man's mouth really cannot be trusted."
"Not ugly doesn't mean I said you were pretty."
"Doesn't 'your type' imply you're complimenting me on being pretty? Unless you admit your aesthetic sense is flawed."
Sheng Yu looked at her haughty yet vaguely expectant expression, placed his large palm on the top of her head, and rubbed it a few times, "You care that much about your image in my heart?"
"I-I don't, really." Zhu Yuan avoided his gaze.
Was she crazy?
Why was she chasing after Sheng Yu to ask such shameless questions?
Zhu Yuan couldn't help but feel her cheeks heating up, and she tried to dodge the hand Sheng Yu had on her chin.
Sheng Yu suddenly pulled her into his arms and said out of nowhere: "On the first day of the Lunar New Year, my uncle asked me what kind of woman I liked."
"Oh." Zhu Yuan's heartbeat inexplicably accelerated.
"Aren't you curious about what I said?" Sheng Yu smiled without smiling.
"Why would I be curious about your criteria for a partner?" Zhu Yuan said she didn't want to know, but in her heart, she was desperate to know what kind of woman he liked, and how many of those traits had to do with her?
"A girl from Yucheng is quite good, preferably 1.687 meters tall, a bit bolder, emotionally stable, able to bend and stretch, and pretty—pretty enough to be prettier than my mother."
The man's voice poured into her ears, and Zhu Yuan's face turned visibly red in an instant.
Especially with the addition Sheng Yu made: "My mother was the number one beauty in Yucheng back in the day."
Zhu Yuan's face flushed a deep red; so this was how Sheng Yu complimented people!
