Chapter 196: Catching a Flight
A hint of obvious amusement stained the depths of Sheng Yu's eyes as he watched her with leisurely composure.
He leaned against the wall and pulled her closer, "I merely came to Yucheng in person to catch Shen Yijing, how is that being clingy?"
"Shen Yijing doesn't have such great face that she could trouble you to mobilize such a large force and make a personal expedition?"
Looking at her delicate and charming face, the amusement in Sheng Yu's eyes deepened, "If she doesn't have such great face, then who does?"
Zhu Yuan let out a laugh, stood on her tiptoes, lowered her voice by his ear, and said, "It wouldn't be Captain Hao, would it?"
The large hand wrapped around her waist suddenly tightened its grip; Zhu Yuan felt a slight sting of pain as she was pressed firmly against the man's chest.
Yet, unafraid of death, she raised her head to look at him and arched a brow.
Sheng Yu was so angry he laughed; he stood up straight, his palm pressed against her lower back, and he lowered his head to kiss her eyes, "Can we rest now?"
Zhu Yuan nodded.
Sheng Yu gave her the bouquet of roses he was holding in his other hand, his gaze fixed on her, "Yuan Fengye said all women like flowers."
The tone sounded no different from usual, yet Zhu Yuan inexplicably detected a trace of probing and nervousness.
As if he were terrified she wouldn't like them.
She held the flowers and took a deep breath at their tips, her senses filled with the fragrance of blossoms.
"So fragrant, I like them very much."
The corners of Sheng Yu's mouth curled up almost imperceptibly, "Let's go."
"Go where?"
Sheng Yu wrapped his arm around her waist, "To the hotel where you're staying; I've been on a plane for three hours and I'm tired and need to rest."
Late at night.
A bouquet of roses fell to the foot of the bed, the petals scattered all over the floor.
Suppressed, unbearable gasps emanated from the room.
Before long, the woman's black half-cup bra and thin-as-cicada-wings panties landed on the petals, and a navy blue striped tie hung from the white bedsheets down to the floor.
"You weren't tired... Mmph!"
"Not tired enough yet. What position were you lying on the bed in last night while wearing a bathrobe, hmm? Like this?"
"You still dare to seduce me?"
The temperature in Yucheng had risen significantly compared to around the New Year.
A layer of mist formed on the floor-to-ceiling window, and the woman's fair, slender wrists were pressed against it.
Zhu Yuan turned her head in nervousness, and Sheng Yu took the opportunity to lower his head and kiss her lips, pinching her slightly trembling slender waist as he coaxed her hoarsely, "Yuanyuan, be good."
Past midnight.
Sheng Yu held the already fast-asleep Zhu Yuan in his arms; he looked at the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling window, his eyes deeper and more bottomless than the night sky in the distance.
He got up and felt his coat pocket, then felt his suit pocket.
He had forgotten; it had been a while since he last smoked.
For some reason tonight, a sense of irritation lingered in his heart.
He took out his phone and made a call, "Bring me a pack of cigarettes."
He opened the hotel room door and took the cigarettes and lighter handed to him by Situ.
Situ suddenly remembered something, "Young Master Yu, this room seems to be the one from three years ago..."
"Are you sure?" The man lit a cigarette, cutting Situ off.
He was wearing only a white bath towel around his lower body; his upper body's bulging muscle lines were extremely impactful, and there were a few ambiguous red scratch marks on them.
Situ nodded, "I am sure now."
Because when Sheng Yu had his episode back then and drove out alone, he and Yuan Fengye and the others had searched for a long time before finding this hotel; because the situation was complicated at the time, he hadn't paid much attention to the room.
And the reason Enzo hadn't recognized the place while following Zhu Yuan was because Enzo hadn't come to Yucheng three years ago.
Sheng Yu frowned, "Change the room."
Even though three years had passed since that incident, he still felt disgusted by it, let alone staying here with Zhu Yuan.
"Sheng Hongyao just checked out of the room across the hall today; he stays here every time he comes to Yucheng on business."
"Not across the hall, stay on the top floor."
Zhu Yuan was too tired and slept soundly, and because she was leaning in Sheng Yu's arms, she didn't notice that she had been moved to a different room.
And after Sheng Yu placed her on the bed and ensured he hadn't woken her, he got up and sat on the sofa, smoking several cigarettes.
He didn't remember much about what happened that night three years ago, because he would have a blackout every time he had an episode.
He only vaguely remembered a woman's crying and screaming, and his own violent urge to destroy everything, which was finally suppressed by an overwhelming sense of gratification.
The moment he woke up and saw Ning Huaiqing, who was in a disheveled state and crying while biting her lip, he knew what had happened.
Three years ago, he had torn apart Ning Huaiqing's innocence.
The sky gradually brightened.
He pressed his phone, and the screen lit up, illuminating his eyes, which were filled with bloodshot veins.
It was almost five o'clock.
He extinguished his cigarette, got up, and walked into the bathroom to take a shower before lying back down on the bed and pulling Zhu Yuan into his arms.
And Zhu Yuan, in her sleep, felt the embrace of a familiar temperature and groggily snuggled closer, rubbing against the man's hard chest a few times.
Even breathing sounds.
Sheng Yu held her tightly, looking down at her sleeping face, his gaze bottomless, his voice low and hoarse, "Yuanyuan, you said you would never leave me."
Five-thirty in the morning.
The door opened.
Sheng Yu, dressed in a suit, walked out of the room with Situ following behind, "Young Master Yu, the plane lands in Kyoto at nine o'clock, there is an executive meeting at ten, and you have to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at three-thirty in the afternoon."
The man gave a low hum of acknowledgement, "Keep the important meetings, cancel the rest, and cancel all dinner engagements."
Situ nodded, "Understood, I know."
He could not help but feel shocked in his heart; he had never imagined Sheng Yu would date, let alone that he would be like this when he did.
Between Jingdu City and Yucheng, a private jet had applied for a flight path days in advance.
He was tireless, all just to come here and see Zhu Yuan once.
Zhu Yuan woke up just as Sheng Yu was getting off the plane.
Seeing that the layout of the room had changed, she was not panicked, merely puzzled.
A sticky note was placed on the bedside table—
【I've returned to Jingdu City first; I'll come back over tonight. That previous room was no longer fit to stay in, so I changed you to another one. If you miss me, give me a call.】
No longer fit to stay in!
Zhu Yuan's face flushed completely red in an instant.
Why was it no longer fit to stay in—did he have no self-reflection at all?
And, how could he just return to Jingdu City, and then come back tonight?
A three-hour flight—what did he think it was?
Zhu Yuan hurriedly took out her phone and called Sheng Yu.
The phone was answered after a single ring.
"Sheng Yu..."
"Why are you so well-behaved, calling me the moment you wake up? Did you miss me?"
The two voices overlapped.
Listening to his nonchalant tone, Zhu Yuan's heart softened into a complete mess, "Don't keep running back and forth; work is already exhausting enough."
"Then you should reward me even more. I've given you all my shares; I'm working for you now. Who do you think I'm working so hard for?"
He was becoming more and more shameless.
Zhu Yuan blushed, "But you can't come every day; it's too exhausting. Besides, you haven't really slept at all, have you! How could you possibly get any rest?"
A low chuckle from the man came from the other end of the line.
"Just consider it that I'm very clingy."
