Chapter 235: A Little Later, and the Person Would Be Gone!

~9 min read 1,787 words

Pei Ling looked straight at her face, "Have you thought it through?"

He did not care; it was not his seed anyway.

However, he had heard that abortions were harmful to the body; back then, when his so-called father took his mother by force, he had coaxed her into giving birth to him in the same way.

Zhu Yuan lowered her head and nodded silently.

"Do you not want Sheng Yu's seed, or are you afraid I cannot protect you?" Pei Ling's gaze was sharper than before, as if he could see through her thoughts.

Before she could speak, he said slowly, "If you are doing this because you worry I cannot protect you, there is no need; I can protect you, and I will certainly protect the child in your womb. But if you simply do not want Sheng Yu's seed, I can help you. If you don't want it, then don't have it."

If it harmed her body, he would slowly nurse her back to health. He had money, and with modern technology, there would be no problems.

But if she wanted to keep it yet feared being targeted by those with ill intentions, he would not agree; it would mean nothing more than continuing to guard the Pei Family that disgusted him, staying with her, and protecting her.

Before, his feelings for her were vague, and it had not reached the point where he absolutely had to have her; naturally, he would not easily expose his strength in front of outsiders.

Zhu Yuan's fingers were tightly twisted together, twisted until the knuckles turned white, making one have no doubt that if she twisted any further, her fingers would break.

After a long silence.

Pei Ling leaned over and reached out, forcefully prying her two hands apart. Looking at the reddened fingers after they were separated, one could imagine how much strength she had used.

However, he did not let go of her hands, but gripped them tightly, looking up at her face with a tone that did not sound very good, "Tell me after you have made up your mind."

Just as he let go and turned to leave, her weak yet firm voice came from behind: "I have made up my mind. Please, Second Master, help me arrange a hospital. The sooner, the better."

The longer the time dragged on, the greater the danger.

Those people were all aiming for the child in her womb.

She had to go to the hospital as soon as possible.

Pei Ling said without looking back, "Fine."

After leaving the room, Pei Ling raised his hand to touch the back of his neck; it had been grazed by a bullet at the Hot Spring Villa, and the skin on the back of his neck was torn open.

Previously, while Zhu Yuan was unconscious, he had been sitting in the room and felt nothing, but now, while talking to her, the smell of blood was too pungent, and he did not want her to smell it.

Closing the door, he turned and went to another room, walked into the bathroom, took off his clothes, and turned on the showerhead. The water splashed down from his head, washing away the bloodstains on the back of his neck and revealing a patch of mangled skin. The everted skin turned white from the water, but as soon as the water stopped, the blood began to seep out again.

He grabbed a towel and wiped the wound haphazardly. After a good while, the entire towel was stained red before the bleeding gradually subsided.

After a while, he walked out of the bathroom with a bath towel wrapped around his waist. A few water droplets slid down his well-defined, wheat-colored, and sturdy chest, sliding along his mermaid line and disappearing into the bath towel.

A Bodyguard brought in some Medicine. Seeing the wound on the back of his neck, he averted his gaze as if nothing were wrong, then placed the tray with the Medicine on the coffee table in front of him before leaving.

It was not that he did not want to help, but Second Master never allowed others to help when he was injured; even with gunshot wounds, he could use a dagger to dig the bullets out himself.

Most of the time, they were not even aware when Second Master was injured; he usually handled it all by himself.

Pei Ling applied some Medicine to himself, covered the wound with gauze, and after putting on his clothes, he called the Bodyguard back into the room.

"Is there still the smell of blood on me?"

The Bodyguard was stunned for a moment, but meeting Pei Ling's cold and stern gaze, he immediately replied, "I cannot smell it."

"You are standing so far away, of course you cannot smell it," Pei Ling said with displeasure, "Come closer."

The Bodyguard took a few more steps, approaching Pei Ling, and said earnestly, "I really cannot smell it, Second Master."

Pei Ling hummed, "Clean up this Medicine."

He got up and left the room. When he reached the door of Zhu Yuan's room, before he could even push it open, he heard a very low, suppressed sound of crying from inside.

His hand holding the doorknob stiffened.

After a few seconds, that hand with distinct knuckles dropped.

It was clearly a very beautiful hand, yet the back of the hand was marred by scratches and scars of various sizes, affecting its appearance.

Pei Ling leaned his back against the doorframe, faintly able to hear her crying.

He did not know how much time had passed before the crying inside finally stopped.

Pei Ling's expression was unreadable as he looked up at the wall clock.

Thirty-seven minutes.

She really knew how to cry.

Inside Jingdu Cheng Hospital.

Qiao Mai lost his temper in front of Situ and the others for the first time, "How could you let him lose so much blood! Any later, and the person would be gone!"

In the intensive care unit, Sheng Yu lay quietly on the bed, his face devoid of any color, his chest not rising or falling in the slightest.

If not for the data jumping on the monitor beside the bed, one would think that what lay there was a person who had already lost their life.

Situ's jaw was tight, his face pale and grim; he did not offer a single word of excuse, as it was indeed his failure to protect Sheng Yu.

It had given that person surnamed Jiang the opportunity to strike and injure Young Master Yu during the chaos, while everyone was distracted by Miss Zhu threatening her own life.

Although he had killed that person surnamed Jiang with his own hands, it still could not soothe the hatred in his heart!

After Qiao Mai finished scolding him, he wanted to continue, but upon seeing the gunshot wound on his left shoulder, his brows furrowed, "Hurry up and go get the bullet removed."

"No rush, I will wait for Young Master Yu to wake up."

Qiao Mai had long since experienced Situ's stubbornness. Hearing such obstinate words, he was so angry he nearly blew his top, but having practiced medicine for many years, his ability to control his emotions was decent.

Although still angry, he urged him, "I am not blaming you; I am just worried and flustered. Go and treat your wound now; Young Master Yu will not wake up that quickly."

"How long?" Situ's feet did not move an inch.

The fire Qiao Mai had managed to suppress flared up again, and he angrily called for people to come over, "Take him to treat his wound!"

Yet, even with two Bodyguards working together, they could not budge Situ in the slightest!

Looking at his stubbornness, anger rose in Qiao Mai's heart, and he used his trump card, "Young Master Yu still needs you to help find Miss Zhu. How long can you last without treating your wound?"

Situ pursed his lips.

Seeing this, Qiao Mai gave a look to the two Bodyguards.

The two moved again, and only then were they able to take Situ away.

Qiao Mai turned around, looked through the layers of glass doors at the man lying in the hospital room, and sighed.

He hoped Young Master Yu could make it through this ordeal.

Qi Jing and Yuan Fengye, who were beside him, were equally anxious.

Yuan Fengye, in particular, could not fathom how things had ended up like this when everything had been fine.

He had known before that Zhu Yuan was no ordinary woman; otherwise, it would have been impossible for her to catch the eyes of both Lu Huaizhan and Sheng Yu in succession.

But looking at it now, that woman was not only stubborn and headstrong, but also extremely heartless.

It was just an illegitimate child, wasn't it?

If raised outside, out of sight and out of mind, they could have lived a good life; Yu Ge truly held her in the palm of his hand and cherished her, a treatment those women outside wouldn't even dare to dream of, yet she was so ungrateful.

Was it really necessary to make such a scene and insist on leaving Yu Ge?

Now Yu Ge had suffered such severe injuries, was nearly dead, and it was unknown when he would even wake up.

And she had actually flown off to parts unknown with that man surnamed Pei!

The more Yuan Fengye thought about it, the angrier he became.

Urgent footsteps came from not far away, sounding especially distinct in the quiet intensive care unit area.

Qi Jing and Yuan Fengye heard the sound and looked over.

Ning Huaiqing was panting, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at them, "How, how is he?"

However, before she could even get close to them, Enzo, who had appeared from nowhere, reached out to block her path and rebuked her mercilessly.

"Stay away from Young Master Yu!"

He knew that Ning Huaiqing had a hard time raising a child alone, but he felt no sympathy for her at all.

Because this was a consequence of her own choices; knowing full well that Young Master Yu had no feelings for her, she had actually secretly given birth to the child behind Young Master Yu's back. In his eyes, someone so lacking in benevolence and righteousness deserved to be despised.

It was only because she was a woman that he hadn't laid a hand on her.

But if it weren't for her, how could Young Master Yu and Miss Zhu have ended up like this?

Zhu Yuan looked at him, her eyes calm and without a single ripple.
