Chapter 263: I Mind Your Lack of Mind
Sheng Hongyao's eyes were bloodshot; he stared at the lifeless Shen Yijing on the ground and suddenly began to laugh maniacally.
He had just been firing wildly at Shen Yijing, and a few drops of blood had splattered onto his face, making him look ferocious and terrifying.
The medical staff, who had been blocked at the door by Sheng Yu's men, surged into the ward upon seeing Sheng Yu's signal and began to inject Sheng Hongyao with a sedative.
The ward was in total chaos, and the smell of blood permeated the air.
Sheng Yu walked out of the ward expressionlessly, with Situ by his side, leaving a few trusted aides to watch over Sheng Hongyao.
"Young Master Yu, we still haven't been able to find out who the man behind Shen Yijing is."
Suddenly, Sheng Yu asked for no apparent reason: "What has my Second Uncle been doing lately?"
"Second Master?" Situ thought of that Second Master of the Sheng Family, Sheng Hongwei, and said, "He went out for a trip the past two days; I don't know if he has returned yet."
Went out for a trip?
Sheng Yu sneered lightly; he certainly had the leisure for it.
The two walked into the elevator, and Sheng Yu glanced at a bloodstain on the corner of Situ's clothing—it didn't look like it was his own—and asked, "Are you injured?"
Situ was stunned for a moment; having been by Sheng Yu's side for so many years, he could hear the subtext in Sheng Yu's words, and he said in a low voice, "She said it was a minor injury."
"You believe a woman's words?" Sheng Yu held a black lighter in his hand that had lost several patches of paint and looked tattered. "Let Enzo follow me; you go take care of her."
Situ didn't leave immediately; mentioning Enzo reminded him, "Last night, Ning Huaiqing intercepted Enzo at the intersection of the Hot Spring Villa. Enzo was worried she would expose your whereabouts, so he brought her back to the Hot Spring Villa."
Sheng Yu's unreadable expression finally changed, and he frowned, "Which building did he take her to?"
"The building we are staying in. Enzo is sharp; he wouldn't let Ning Huaiqing get close to the house where you and Miss Zhu are."
Sheng Yu didn't ask why Ning Huaiqing was looking for him; it was nothing more than about that child.
Thinking of that child, Sheng Yu raised a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose; he couldn't actually wipe them out. He had only said he would kill Ning Huaiqing and Youyou, and that was what had scared Yuanyuan.
After Situ sent Sheng Yu to the car, he drove himself to a high-end residential complex in Kyoto City.
Sheng Yu treated his subordinates well and gave them all sorts of good things.
Take him for example; he owned countless properties and had homes in all the major high-end residential complexes in Kyoto City. The place where Chu Xin lived was one of his properties.
Upon arriving, Situ skillfully entered the passcode, and the door opened.
What came into view was the entryway of a spacious, minimalist apartment. Seeing the shoes on the floor, the furrow in Situ's brow relaxed slightly.
Closing the door, he put on slippers and walked inside, just in time to see Chu Xin with her shoulder-length hair tied back, wearing a racerback tank top and sitting on the sofa. She had a folded towel bitten between her teeth, and in her other hand, she held a dagger, digging something out of her shoulder.
The moment Situ walked over, a 'clink' was heard as a bullet was dug out by Chu Xin and dropped onto the tray on the table.
Looking at the small bullet casing coated in sticky blood, Situ's expression suddenly darkened.
Hearing the movement, Chu Xin instinctively gripped the dagger tighter, her other hand reaching for the pistol on the coffee table.
She turned around nimbly, only to face Situ's cold, stern face. Her hand paused, and she put down the pistol, "Tu Ge."
Situ walked over expressionlessly, first looking at Chu Xin's pale face and the cold sweat on her forehead from the excruciating pain, then looking at the wound on her shoulder.
Her technique for digging out the bullet had been messy, or perhaps it was just too painful, causing her hand holding the dagger to tremble, leaving the wound a bloody mess.
Even though Situ had seen all kinds of wounds, his heart felt inexplicably sour and his chest tight when he saw this scene.
"Not a minor injury?"
Chu Xin didn't think much of it, "It wasn't serious to begin with. You told me before that in our line of work, as long as you aren't dead, it's a minor injury."
She had passed layers of screening and selection to become a Bodyguard by Sheng Yu's side, and with Situ personally guiding and training her, it could be said that Situ was her mentor.
At the time, Chu Xin didn't submit to anyone, only to Situ.
Situ kept a cold face; he had indeed said that, so he had no way to refute it.
That heartless Enzo didn't remember a single word, so why did she have to remember it so clearly!
Chu Xin's wound was still bleeding, but with Situ here, she didn't move.
Even the moment Situ approached, she instinctively stood up, her attitude respectful, yet inexplicably awkward due to their experience in Fengcheng where they had both worn a Human Skin Mask.
It wasn't because Situ wearing Sheng Yu's Human Skin Mask and acting with her made her awkward; she had never thought of him as Sheng Yu—he was Situ, and even wearing a mask, he was still Situ.
What made her awkward was that Situ had actually kissed her; wasn't it agreed that they would just fake it for the act?
However, Chu Xin didn't ask this; it was a special situation, and to make the other party believe it was real, they were both doing it for work.
Situ didn't speak; he picked up the Medicine kit on the side, opened it, skillfully selected a few types of Medicine, pressed down on Chu Xin's other shoulder, and forced her to sit on the sofa.
"Don't move," Situ scolded sternly.
He adopted the attitude he used when training her, so Chu Xin naturally didn't dare to move, letting Situ clean her wound and apply the Medicine.
The moment the medicinal powder was sprinkled on the wound, the intense pain made Chu Xin's vision go black. She gripped the sofa armrest tightly, but she didn't expect Situ to shift his body, and her hand firmly grabbed his thigh.
The firm thigh muscles were solid, powerful, and gave a sense of security.
Chu Xin instinctively pulled her hand away, not daring to offend the sacred and majestic Tu Ge in her heart.
Situ said, "If it hurts, grab me. What's the use of grabbing the sofa?"
"It doesn't hurt."
Situ looked at her with deep eyes, pursed his lips, grabbed her hand, and pressed it against the side of his thigh, "Grab it."
As soon as Chu Xin frowned, another wave of intense pain hit the wound. She gripped her fingers tightly in pain, her fingers digging into Situ's thigh muscles through his pants, biting her teeth and not making a sound.
The harder she gripped, the more it hurt.
A trace of softness flashed in Situ's dark eyes, but he knew that long-term pain was worse than short-term pain, so he sped up the application of the Medicine.
By the time he finished applying the Medicine, Chu Xin looked as if she had just been fished out of water, her entire body soaked through with sweat.
The white racerback tank top she was wearing had become somewhat translucent.
Situ saw what he shouldn't have seen the moment he lowered his head.
He quickly averted his gaze, looking upward, but unexpectedly locked onto her lips. Some inappropriate images flashed through his mind, and he cleared his throat, "Are there any other injuries?"
"No," Chu Xin answered too quickly, making it seem like she was feeling guilty.
Situ lifted her pant leg, frowned, and sure enough, saw a rather deep scratch.
Seeing that Situ was about to crouch down in front of her to treat the wound, Chu Xin was so startled she pressed down on her pant leg, sweat dripping from her face, "Tu Ge, I can do it myself."
Situ crouched down, pulled away the hand she was using to hold her pant leg, and said expressionlessly, "If you are being so polite to me because you feel awkward that I kissed you, there is no need."
Even though Chu Xin was a well-trained Bodyguard, hearing this still made her cheeks feel hot, "We are all just here for work, I won't mind."
Situ lowered his head to treat her wound, "I mind your not minding very much."
