Chapter 29: The Person He Wants, You Dare to Covet!
Inside a five-star hotel suite across the street from the hospital.
An assortment of instruments was laid out on the table, the black metal emitting a cold, sharp luster.
"Xiao Fengzheng, oh Xiao Fengzheng, I wanted to treat you well, but it's a pity you refuse to show respect, so don't blame me for using these methods."
Lou Yi laughed more and more wildly, picking up one item to wipe it while imagining in his mind the alluring sight of putting this thing on Zhu Yuan's neck later and watching her cry and beg for mercy.
He picked up the red wine on the table, already starting to celebrate in advance.
But just as he brought the wine glass to his lips, he heard a massive sound of a door being smashed open!
Lou Yi was startled, and with a *clatter*, the wine glass dropped to the floor.
"Who the hell..."
The moment he turned his head, a pitch-black gun barrel was pointed straight at his forehead!
His blood turned icy cold in an instant; when he saw the face of the man before him, Lou Yi's ferocious, reddened face turned pale with fright, "Si... Si... Situ!"
As one of the most capable assistants by Sheng Yu's side, there was no one in Kyoto's upper-class circles who did not know Situ.
Situ stared expressionlessly at the man slowly kneeling down, "For me to come out in person, you can consider yourself honored."
Lou Yi had no idea what was happening, only that his legs were weak and he couldn't stand; he clutched his head, his teeth chattering, "Don't shoot, don't shoot, I... I don't know where I offended Young Master Yu. Situ, don't shoot, please show me a way out."
As soon as he finished speaking, a foot wearing a hiking boot kicked fiercely into his chest, knocking him over; he rolled several times before his back hit the wall and he stopped.
"Ugh!"
He lay on the ground and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
With a burning, tearing sensation in his chest and cold sweat oozing from every pore, he saw Situ walking slowly toward him through blurred vision and kicking his face, "With Young Master Yu, there is no second time after the first. The person he wants is someone you dare to covet."
No second time...
No first time!
In a flash of lightning in Lou Yi's chaotic brain, he finally understood: Zhu Yuan hadn't been toying with him; the last time, it really was Sheng Yu who sent people to beat him!
The heavy doors of the operating room had their lights on; surgery was being performed inside.
Zhu Yuan sat on a bench, her ten fingers tightly intertwined, her gaze fixed on that large door, not even daring to blink.
The entire corridor was empty; apart from the medical staff coming and going, there was no one else.
There wasn't a trace of danger in the air; it was as quiet as any ordinary morning.
No one would have guessed that ten minutes ago, Zhu Qi's hospital bed had been hijacked by a group of people, but in the blink of an eye, those people had scattered like birds and beasts, only to be suppressed by force by a group of men in black downstairs and given a beating.
Soft footsteps echoed in the quiet corridor, and a pair of feet wearing hiking boots stopped behind her side.
Zhu Yuan just tilted her head slightly to look, "I want to wait until Grandpa's surgery is over before talking. Please thank him for me first."
"For words of thanks, Miss Zhu, it is more sincere to say them in person." Situ stood slightly sideways, calmly keeping his blood-stained shoes out of her line of sight.
Zhu Yuan didn't say anything more.
Three hours later, the operating room door opened.
The doctor smiled at Zhu Yuan, "The surgery went smoothly, please rest assured. The patient is still under anesthesia and won't wake up for a while. We will transfer him to the intensive care unit for observation first."
Zhu Yuan could not enter the intensive care unit.
Two bodyguards were guarding outside the door, which felt like a reassurance for her.
"Miss Zhu, Young Master Yu is waiting for you," Situ said beside her.
"Let's go," Zhu Yuan turned around.
A black sedan was parked downstairs; Situ opened the car door, and she looked inside, but there was no one there.
She could imagine that someone of Sheng Yu's status wouldn't willingly wait in a car for so many hours; she couldn't be someone who would make him lower his status.
She didn't know where the car was driving; Zhu Yuan hadn't slept all night but didn't feel sleepy, only muddled in her head, feeling as if she were floating, like she was still dreaming and hadn't woken up.
It wasn't until the car drove halfway up the mountain and stopped at an independent small white building that Situ reminded her, "Miss Zhu, we have arrived."
Zhu Yuan had never been to this place before; the car door opened, and she smelled a pleasant fragrance in the air. It was already autumn, yet the flowers here were blooming so beautifully.
However, she was in no mood to appreciate the beautiful scenery around her.
She followed Situ into the house, and a beam of sunlight slanted in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, but Sheng Yu's figure was still nowhere to be seen in the house.
"Young Master Yu is at the company," Situ saw through her confusion, "He asked you to have lunch and then take a nap; if you have anything to say, wait until he returns."
"When will he be back?"
"If he doesn't work overtime, this evening."
After saying this, Situ nodded slightly to her and turned to leave the small house.
"Wait!"
Zhu Yuan stood in the warm little house; it looked very new and showed no signs of having been lived in. Sheng Yu probably rarely came here.
But she wasn't sleepy now, nor did she feel hungry, "Then I'll come back after he gets off work."
Situ had said that if Sheng Yu didn't work overtime, he wouldn't be back until evening; if he worked overtime unexpectedly, how much longer would she have to wait?
If Grandpa woke up and didn't see her, he would be worried.
Situ reminded her, "Miss Zhu, Young Master Yu's word is final; you had best be obedient."
But Zhu Yuan had never been an obedient person.
Inside the Sheng Group conference room, the executive meeting was drawing to a close.
An abrupt cell phone ringtone sounded.
The executives stopped what they were doing and looked at each other, searching for the source of the sound in surprise. Who was bold enough to let a phone ring out loud during an executive meeting?
They saw Sheng Yu pick up the phone that had been face-down on the table without haste.
At the head of the table, Chairman Sheng Hongyao had a cold, dark expression.
Under the gaze of everyone, Sheng Yu leaned back against his chair and answered the phone as if no one else were there, "Speak."
"I want to go back to the hospital first and wait for Grandfather to wake up."
"Didn't Situ tell you?"
Perhaps because she hadn't drunk any water for a long time, Zhu Yuan's voice was a bit dry and lacked some of its natural, delicate softness, "I have nothing to do here."
Sheng Yu frowned slightly, "Out of the question."
The call ended, and after placing his phone face down on the tabletop, Sheng Yu raised his eyes to scan the room, automatically ignoring Sheng Hongyao's livid face, and said with calm composure, "The meeting continues."
A busy signal came from the other end of the line.
Situ glanced at Zhu Yuan; he didn't need to hear what the person on the other end had said to know, and he made a helpless expression.
Before leaving the small house, he reminded her again, "By the way, Miss Zhu, Young Master Yu dislikes it most when people act first and report later. You had best not leave on your own; besides, you can't hail a taxi here."
"As for your grandfather, there will be people watching over him."
Zhu Yuan did not understand whether this last sentence was a threat or a kindness.
Not long after, a woman wearing a hotel uniform carried a food box and knocked to enter; it was her lunch.
Even though Zhu Yuan had no appetite, the thought that she hadn't eaten anything since the morning made her walk over and sit at the dining table.
Four dishes and one soup were laid out on the dining table.
There was also a thermos containing warm water.
