Chapter 39: Sheng Yu Killed His Son

~9 min read 1,643 words

Sheng Hongyao did not expect that Sheng Yu would dare to open fire in front of him!

With a sharp gaze, he looked at his assistant, and the Bodyguards who had originally dispersed to maintain order instantly gathered together, pulling out the handguns from behind their waists one after another.

"Young Master Yu!" Situ's expression turned stern; he quickly moved to Sheng Yu's side and drew another gun from the back of his waist.

How could the ladies and misses, who lived pampered lives, have ever seen such a scene?

Some of the women were so frightened they cried out on the spot.

The young girl on the stage who was younger than Zhu Yuan also began to cry.

Zhu Yuan hurriedly pulled the girl into her arms to protect her, looking anxiously at Sheng Yu, who was caught in the center of the dangerous vortex.

So, the large "YU" on the hull of the ship was the surname of Sheng Yu's mother—meaning "Yu."

She did not know what had happened between Sheng Yu's parents, but seeing with her own eyes a father bringing his mistress to celebrate a birthday on a ship designed by his mother was simply a supreme humiliation.

No wonder he had gone mad.

At this moment, the guests on the ship felt the vessel moving toward the port and knew it would dock before long.

The guests were restless.

They all wished they could vanish from this ship immediately.

Yet, no one dared to take a single step.

"Those who want to leave, go downstairs now; as for those who still want to stay here..."

Sheng Yu looked around, his gaze icy, and said word by word, cruel and merciless, "... then don't even think about leaving."

Just as someone took a step forward, they were pulled back in a panic by their companions!

With Sheng Hongyao having said nothing, who dared to leave easily?

The guests who came to attend the birthday banquet tonight had all received invitations and were on the list.

If they dared to leave today, it would be a slap in the face to Sheng Hongyao, and their days in Kyoto City would likely be difficult in the future.

But on the other side, Sheng Yu was even more difficult to provoke.

The guests were terrified, their faces ashen.

No one had expected that coming to a birthday banquet would actually cost them their lives!

"Are you determined to go against me?" Sheng Hongyao's voice was very low as he stared gloomily at Sheng Yu.

Sheng Yu remained expressionless, unhurriedly pulling the safety catch off his handgun.

"Ah—"

A woman among the guests screamed in fright.

With two loud bangs, the sound system was blown apart, and the "Happy Birthday" song came to an abrupt halt.

Zhu Yuan's face turned pale as she hugged the little girl who had just screamed; the sound system was relatively close to her, and after the explosion, she only felt a constant buzzing in her ears, shaking her head, unable to hear clearly what Sheng Yu had said.

She only saw that Sheng Hongyao's expression was gloomy to the extreme.

The atmosphere at the scene froze into ice.

Neither side was willing to take a step back.

The guests felt as if they were being roasted on a rack.

Even the men who had been trying to maintain a facade of composure began to break out in a cold sweat.

If they didn't leave, no one could guarantee what kind of insane actions Sheng Yu might take.

The memory of him going mad and driving his car to hit Shen Yijing all those years ago gradually surfaced in everyone's minds.

In an instant, the guests fell into despair, looking toward Sheng Hongyao for help.

However, Sheng Hongyao remained unmoved.

Suddenly, Shen Yijing, who was in his arms, interlaced her fingers with his, gripping his hand tightly, "Hongyao, let them all go back. The birthday banquet was already coming to an end; it can be over now."

Once these words were spoken, the guests below the stage all felt grateful in their hearts for Shen Yijing's magnanimity and kindness.

Sheng Yu pointed his gun at her, "It's not your turn to speak here!"

"Sheng Yu!" A cold glint appeared in the depths of Sheng Hongyao's eyes.

Shen Yijing hurriedly tugged at his sleeve, shaking her head at him.

Seeing the pleading look of the woman he loved, Sheng Hongyao's chest heaved violently, and he gritted his teeth and waved his hand, "Suit yourselves."

As soon as the words fell, the guests didn't even have time to change their expressions, running downstairs in a panic with looks of despair.

They were terrified that if they were a second late, they would lose their lives.

In just over ten seconds, only Sheng Yu's and Sheng Hongyao's men remained in the entire venue.

Even the people from the Drama Troupe on the stage fled the scene.

The cruise ship docked.

The guests disembarked one after another; even if they had to take what happened tonight to their graves, they would not dare to reveal a single word to the outside world.

Watching Sheng Yu leave with his men, Shen Yijing's legs went weak as she leaned against Sheng Hongyao's chest, crying aggrievedly.

"Hongyao... I don't know what to do. A Yu will never accept me; he hates me to the bone."

Sheng Hongyao hugged her tightly, his heart aching, "It's not your fault; it's him who is insane and beyond saving!"

"Back then, he drove his car to hit me; our child was only two months away from being born, and just like that, it was gone... My heart ached so much I almost died, sob... I have already forgiven him, why is he still unwilling to accept me?"

The child...

Thinking of that unborn child, Sheng Hongyao's eyes turned red.

It was a boy.

Sheng Yu had killed his son.

The Half-Mountain Villa was quiet in the dead of night.

After Sheng Hongyao waited for Shen Yijing to fall asleep, he got up and went to the study.

Before long, the assistant knocked and entered.

"Chairman, Young Master Sheng did not take anyone with him when he left."

Sheng Hongyao stood before the floor-to-ceiling window holding a red wine glass, gazing at the landscape lights in the courtyard.

"Not even one?"

"None," the assistant replied.

Sheng Hongyao narrowed his eyes slightly.

Sheng Yu was a man who could not tolerate a single grain of sand in his eyes.

He would absolutely not tolerate his woman performing a program at Shen Yijing's birthday banquet, especially while in a fit of rage; he would certainly have taken her away.

Everyone from the Kyoto Theater Troupe had come today, except for Li Sha, who was on leave.

Sheng Yu did not take anyone away, unless his woman was not from the Theater, or perhaps this woman never existed at all; Sheng Yu had been trying to provoke him for more than a day or two.

Sheng Hongyao downed the red wine in his glass in one gulp.

With a "clatter," the glass shattered.

Of course, there was another possibility...

It was already late at night when Zhu Yuan returned to the hospital; Zhu Qi was already asleep, and she sat on her own bed, recalling the events of the night, feeling a sense of unreality.

She felt as if she had seen another side of Sheng Yu.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

She hurriedly covered it to avoid waking her grandfather and took a quick look at the caller ID.

It was a call from Situ.

She answered the phone.

"Miss Zhu, should I come upstairs to pick you up, or wait for you downstairs?"

This one sentence blocked off all of Zhu Yuan's escape routes.

Zhu Yuan hesitated for a few seconds, "Alright, I will change my clothes and come down."

She was still wearing her performance costume.

There had been no time to change on the cruise ship; they had boarded the car and left immediately after getting off the ship, like fleeing from purgatory, and no one dared to delay.

After changing her clothes, Zhu Yuan looked at the Electric Baton in her bag, hesitated for a few seconds, and tucked it into her pocket.

Upon reaching downstairs, she indeed saw a familiar black sedan parked outside.

She walked over and pulled open the car door; there was no one else in the car besides Situ.

She sat inside the car, and Situ started the engine.

"Situ, Sheng Yu, he..."

"Miss Zhu, it is not convenient for me to tell you about Young Master Sheng's affairs."

Situ did not turn his head, cutting off her words.

His meaning was very clear, and Zhu Yuan did not ask anything further.

The car drove into the Hot Spring Villa.

It stopped in front of that small white building.

Situ opened the car door and said to Zhu Yuan, "Young Master Sheng is on the second floor."

There were two Bodyguards guarding the outside of the small building.

The entire villa had no lights on; it looked pitch black from the outside.

After walking inside, Zhu Yuan waited for her eyes to adjust, then used the light from outside to walk up the stairs.

There was no sound at all inside the villa.

It was as quiet as a lonely grave.

Zhu Yuan knew she had no way back; she walked upstairs step by step, moving slowly but not feeling secure.

Upon reaching the second floor, she stood at the doorway of an open room and saw the man with the broad back sitting on a rattan chair on the balcony.

A waning moon hung in the sky, and in the distance were the undulating outlines of mountain ranges.

He was sitting there drinking alone.
