Chapter 42: Yu Ge... Don't Be Angry Anymore
Zhu Yuan choked and coughed up a mouthful of water, only to be scooped up by a large hand and pressed against a cold, hard chest.
Her hearing had not yet recovered, so she did not hear the heartbeat vibrating against her ear.
She opened her eyes in a daze, her blurred vision gradually focusing.
Yet, all she saw was a small brown mole on the man's earlobe.
She was shivering from the cold, and her body was so weak that her head drooped after just one glance, her mind a complete blank.
She did not notice that the hand was holding her even tighter.
Not far away, Situ and his men ran over quickly, carrying towels, flashlights, rescue ropes, blankets, and life jackets...
"Young Master Yu!"
Situ hurriedly draped a blanket over Sheng Yu's shoulders.
Sheng Yu held Zhu Yuan with one arm while using the other to pull the blanket down and wrap her up tightly.
His face was cold to the extreme.
Finally, he picked her up horizontally, blanket and all.
Jumping into the sea to save someone consumes a great deal of physical strength; since he had been drinking and taking medication that night, Situ was worried he wouldn't have the stamina.
"Young Master Yu..."
Sheng Yu glanced at the hand he reached out, knowing what he wanted to say, and replied expressionlessly, "I'll do it myself."
Situ had no choice but to pull his hand back.
It was fortunate, however; after they discovered there was a problem with the car Miss Zhu was driving, Young Master Yu hadn't hesitated for a second to order them to take a shortcut to chase her. Situ had once been a race car driver, and he felt that this night was the peak of his life.
Zhu Yuan let him wrap her up like a rice dumpling and let him carry her.
She couldn't move her hands or feet, and in her muddled state, she saw the man with the dark face close at hand; he was soaked through, water was still dripping from the hair on his forehead, and he smelled of seawater.
Even if he turned to ash, she would recognize him.
It was this man who humiliated her!
"Cough... Sheng Yu, cough cough, what kind of piece-of-junk car is yours..."
Sheng Yu lowered his eyes to stare at her face; she was nearly dead and still didn't forget to bite back.
Feeling her body trembling non-stop, he couldn't help but quicken his pace, only saying coldly with a dark face, "I'll settle the score with you properly after we get back!"
Zhu Yuan's head rested against the man's chest, and even though he was walking so fast, she didn't feel any swaying.
"I almost... kicked the bucket." Her voice was very low, and she couldn't muster any strength at all.
What time was it, and he still wanted to settle scores with her? He was truly a businessman, never missing an opportunity.
"When you put chili oil in the noodles, why weren't you afraid of dying?"
The woman leaned softly against his chest, truly too weak to argue with him, her eyelids growing heavier and heavier. "Didn't you see... there was another bowl of noodles in the kitchen..."
Everything went black before her eyes, and Zhu Yuan slowly closed her eyes, her voice softening as well.
"Yu Ge... don't be angry anymore..."
Under the moonlight, on the shore battered by waves, Sheng Yu's entire body stiffened, and his footsteps came to a halt.
His body felt as if it had been electrocuted, and his heart skipped a beat.
He looked down at the woman who had fallen asleep in his arms; a stray lock of hair on his forehead obscured the expression in his eyes, but the hands holding her tightened rigidly.
"Check if her head suffered any impact. She isn't smart enough as it is; don't let her end up with any lasting damage."
Upon receiving Sheng Yu's order, Doctor Qiao Mai hurriedly instructed the nurses to begin preparations for the examination.
Still, Young Master Yu's mouth was truly vicious; even at a time like this, he didn't forget to insult the young lady for not being smart enough.
In his view, the young lady was both brave and resourceful; if she hadn't jumped from the car, she might have been in mortal danger when the car body hit the guardrail, and she would have died before even reaching the sea.
At that moment, she had no choice but to stake everything on one throw.
Sheng Yu looked silently at the person on the bed, then turned and strode out of the room with his long legs.
Situ thought he would go to the guest room to take a shower first, but he didn't expect him to head straight downstairs.
Situ hurried to follow.
Following him, they arrived at the kitchen.
Sheng Yu walked into the kitchen and glanced around; the lid of an enamel pot on the counter was suspended in the air.
He walked over, lifted the lid, and took a look; a flash of some emotion seemed to pass through his eyes.
Situ saw it clearly: it was a bowl of noodles.
And it was still warm.
"Take this to the guest room later."
Sheng Yu put down the pot lid and turned to leave the kitchen.
After a while, Situ brought the noodles to the guest room; Sheng Yu had finished showering and was coming out of the bathroom, walking toward the coffee table while wiping his hair.
"Young Master Yu, the noodles have gone a bit soggy. I'll tell the kitchen to cook another bowl for you."
"No need." Sheng Yu stopped wiping his hair and tossed the towel casually over his shoulder.
When he picked up the chopsticks, he hesitated for two seconds, first sniffing them to make sure there was no spicy scent before he began to eat.
The bowl of noodles was soon empty.
Only after he finished eating did Situ speak: "I've already sent people to salvage the car; it will be sent to an appraisal agency soon to determine the cause of the malfunction."
This accident was clearly man-made.
The car had been sent for maintenance two days ago and was only brought back this evening.
If Miss Zhu hadn't driven the car out tonight, the person sitting in it when the accident happened would have been Young Master Yu.
Who was bold enough to tamper with Young Master Yu's car?
Sheng Yu gave a low grunt of acknowledgement, a flash of cold sternness crossing his eyes, "Don't alert the enemy."
"Understood."
At this moment, Doctor Qiao Mai appeared at the guest room door and knocked lightly, "Young Master Yu, I have already examined Miss Zhu. She has no external injuries and did not hit her head; she will be just as clever as before."
Sheng Yu glanced at him expressionlessly, "Delete that last sentence."
Doctor Qiao Mai shut his mouth in a second.
Sheng Yu got up and went to the second floor, first going to the walk-in closet to put on some loungewear, then returning to the room to stand by the bed and watch the woman in a deep sleep.
Her face had regained some color, and those lips that could spout profanities also had a bit of blood back in them.
An IV needle was inserted into the back of her hand.
"Miss Zhu suffered from shock due to drowning and needs to stay in bed and rest for a few days," Doctor Qiao Mai said in a low voice.
Sheng Yu grunted, then turned his head to look at the balcony.
The previous scene of chaos had already been cleaned up.
Thinking of something, he strode out, his gaze sweeping across the floor, and his brows furrowed, "Where is the Electric Baton?"
Situ was stunned, "I'll go downstairs and ask."
Before long, Situ returned from downstairs, holding the black Electric Baton in his hand, and handed it to Sheng Yu, "The maid saw it while cleaning and put it away, thinking you might still have a use for it."
Sheng Yu took it and pushed the switch with his thumb.
The Electric Baton did not respond.
"Could it be out of power?" Situ asked.
"No."
If it were out of power, would she carry it on her as a decoration?
It must have been broken when he threw it.
Sheng Yu gripped the object in his hand, looking at Zhu Yuan, who was sleeping quietly on the large bed; the ferocity from tonight had nowhere to vent, and now it had inexplicably vanished completely.
"Go find a toolbox that can repair an Electric Baton and bring it to the study."
A flash of disbelief crossed Situ's eyes, and for a moment, he didn't know what to say; it was obvious that Miss Zhu had brought the Electric Baton to shock Young Master Yu, yet now Young Master Yu actually wanted to repair it himself.
However, he still followed orders, told someone to find a toolbox, and carried the tools into the study.
It was already two-thirty in the morning.
The lights were on in the study, and the tools were lined up on the desk.
Sheng Yu sat in the executive chair and took apart the Electric Baton; Situ truly felt he had lived long enough to see anything.
Could it be...
Young Master Yu wants to fix the Electric Baton to coax Miss Zhu?
