Chapter 72: Whether It Ends Is Not for Her to Decide

~7 min read 1,246 words

Pei Ling had just wanted to say that if she wasn't going to talk, forget it; he would only say this once.

However, this sentence from Zhu Yuan made him hear something unusual.

He leaned against the wall, "Broken up?"

This sounded incredibly ironic to hear, and Zhu Yuan said coldly, "We were never in a relationship, so how could there be a breakup? If Second Master has nothing else to find me for, I'll be going first."

"Make yourself clear." Pei Ling stretched out a long leg to block her path.

Zhu Yuan really wanted to kick him, but one of her feet was sprained, and if she ruined the other one, she wouldn't be able to walk.

Besides, she didn't dare to; she could only think about it in her heart.

She had no choice but to stop and ask him patiently, "What does Second Master want to hear?"

Zhu Yuan caught a glimpse of a figure stopping behind the curtain out of the corner of her eye; the shadow was tall and upright—it was a man.

The reflection on the wall, smoke curling up.

Behind her came Pei Ling's meaningful voice, "What do you mean by 'never in a relationship'?"

Zhu Yuan caught a glimpse of the figure still there, and the unhappiness in her heart seemed to find an outlet to vent.

She simply became brazen, "I owed him money before, he was my benefactor, and I had no choice but to submit to him. If I had owed you money back then, I would have submitted to you—it's the same logic. It was just a transactional relationship."

The man behind the curtain's expression turned suddenly gloomy.

The bone-chilling coldness made Situ, who was following him, feel his heart tighten abruptly.

In the afternoon, Young Master Sheng went to play golf with Young Master Yuan and the others; it was almost dark when they finished, and Young Master Yuan suggested going for a drink.

But Young Master Sheng wasn't in the mood; he threw down his club, changed his clothes, and left the club.

After getting into the car, he thought Young Master Sheng had fallen asleep, but just as he glanced at the rearview mirror, the man ordered him to drive to the theater.

He didn't expect that as soon as they arrived, he would hear what Miss Zhu said to Second Master Pei.

"So that's the reason you wanted five hundred thousand." Pei Ling narrowed his eyes, "So now that you've paid off his money, it has nothing to do with him?"

However, the next second, the shadow behind the curtain moved, and a powerful hand gripped Zhu Yuan's arm and dragged her over.

Zhu Yuan was dragged until she stumbled, her back falling directly into the man's broad, solid chest.

She instinctively began to struggle.

But the arm wrapped around her waist tightened in an instant.

The man held a cigarette between his fingers, a cold and sharp mockery on his lips, "Even if I were dead, it wouldn't be your turn."

"Then you might as well be dead." Pei Ling was not at all surprised by Sheng Yu's appearance.

From the moment Zhu Yuan said those words, he had realized something was wrong.

She was not the type of person to say such things.

Pei Ling watched his act of pulling Zhu Yuan into his arms to declare ownership and found it extremely eyesore, "You came too late and probably didn't hear what she said; she said your transactional relationship has ended, and she doesn't belong to you now."

"Whether it ends or not is not for her to decide," Sheng Yu said sternly.

Zhu Yuan's breath hitched.

Pei Ling looked at her face, which had lost all color in an instant, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes, "Let her go."

"What, is Second Master Pei feeling heartache?"

Sheng Yu radiated a cold aura, warning him, "Be careful, or I'll dig out your heart."

He held the person in his arms, didn't look at the other man again, and turned to leave.

The moment Sheng Yu said the words "feeling heartache," Pei Ling froze completely.

So much so that by the time he came back to his senses, Sheng Yu had already taken the person and left, with Situ blocking his path.

He suddenly drew the gun from behind his waist and pressed it against Situ's forehead, saying viciously, "You dare to block my way?"

Situ didn't even blink, "Second Master Pei wouldn't have actually fallen for Miss Zhu, would he?"

The expression in Pei Ling's eyes stalled for a few seconds, then he sneered.

What a joke!

How could he fall for a woman? The thing he hated most in his life was women.

Especially beautiful women!

Theater back door.

Sheng Yu threw her into the car with a cold face and slammed the door shut.

Just as Zhu Yuan reached back to open the other door, he dragged her back into his arms, "What, want to go find Pei Ling?"

"I'll find your M..." Zhu Yuan was suddenly pinched by the corners of her mouth and couldn't curse out the last word.

Sheng Yu looked at her mouth being pinched by him, forced into a pout, and without a second thought, he lowered his head and kissed her, capturing her lips.

The car drove away from the theater, traveling along the city's main road.

Inside the enclosed backseat, Zhu Yuan was pressed into the corner of the cabin by the man, who kissed her wantonly.

Her hands were pressed against the car window, her legs forced apart by the man's strong waist; no matter how she struggled, she couldn't kick him.

Suddenly, her clothes were torn open, and her collar slipped down to her shoulders.

Revealing her fair, rounded shoulders.

Zhu Yuan first felt a chill on her shoulder, but the next second, a sharp pain arrived.

"Ah—"

The man bit down on her shoulder.

His mind was filled with the image of that Du Chenming patting her shoulder and her returning a sweet smile to him.

In a daze, Zhu Yuan heard the man's low, hoarse voice filled with raging anger, "That man surnamed Du, I will cut off his hands."

"No!" Zhu Yuan's eyes welled up with tears; she was in pain from his bite.

The woman who had been silent just a moment ago, who had endured even when he bit her lips, couldn't sit still the moment that man was mentioned.

Sheng Yu let out a low laugh, his tone cruel, "It seems you really like him, don't you?"

She knew that madman Sheng Yu would certainly do what he said; there was an element of intentional retaliation against Sheng Yu in her actions today, but Du Chenming's words were merely encouragement between friends, not as sordid as he imagined.

"My relationship with him is just that of ordinary colleagues; I am not some heartthrob that every man who sees me will fall for."

Zhu Yuan's hand, pressed against the car window, gripped tightly as tears slid down, "Don't drag innocent people into this, I'm begging you."

She regretted it immensely now; for the sake of her own selfish desires, she had nearly harmed Du Chenming.

As his fingertips touched her cold teardrops, Sheng Yu's gaze darkened slightly.

"I'll let him go this time."

As he spoke, his lips and teeth once again sucked and bit marks onto her shoulder.
