Chapter 88: I Want to Confess to the Person I Like
Zhu Yuan was stunned, only then hearing the man say, "I'm going on a business trip for two days."
So he was going on a business trip; she knew Sheng Yu was very busy most of the time, being the president of a large conglomerate with so much work to handle.
He had just said he wanted to go to her place to get a lighter—could it be that he intended to spend the night at her place before leaving?
Who would have thought Sheng Yu would say, "The flight is in three hours."
Three hours.
Images that were inappropriate flashed through Zhu Yuan's mind; fortunately, she had begged him, sparing herself the ordeal tonight.
Suddenly, the man tightened his grip on her chin. "What is it? You seem quite happy."
"No, I'm not." Zhu Yuan denied it flatly, not daring to show even a trace of joy. "How long will you be gone?"
Sheng Yu's face darkened. "You only heard that I'm going on a business trip, but you didn't listen to the details, did you?"
Zhu Yuan's face flushed hot instantly; she had been too busy secretly rejoicing to remember he said two days.
"My memory isn't good," she explained, biting the bullet.
"You certainly have a good memory for holding grudges," Sheng Yu said, displeased.
"I didn't..." Zhu Yuan glanced at him quickly, then darted her eyes away; even she didn't believe what she had just said.
The man took in her every little movement, letting her steal a moment of joy before pulling her into his arms to demand a kiss.
Zhu Yuan pushed against his chest.
Sheng Yu took the opportunity to pull her hands tight, pinning her against the car window, and nibbled on the woman's petite earlobe, saying hoarsely, "There's still a little time."
After Enzo parked the car in a secluded spot by the side of the road, he opened the door, got out, and went to a corner to smoke.
The black sedan swayed slightly; Sheng Yu didn't go all the way, only stopping once he had covered the person from head to toe in his scent.
Like a beast marking its prey.
In the dim car cabin, Sheng Yu held the woman in his arms, her eyes red and looking thoroughly bullied, and, as if possessed, helped her put her clothes back on.
Seeing the marks he had left on her neck and chest, he curled his lips and kissed her slightly swollen lips.
Zhu Yuan was so flustered by this unusual tenderness that she looked at him in alarm, then hurriedly looked away.
Sheng Yu fastened the last button of her coat. "You are not allowed to see that Pei fellow while I'm gone for these two days. If something happens, call Situ, or you can call me."
There was something Zhu Yuan had wanted to say for the past two days; with him suddenly announcing a business trip, she felt even more anxious. She gripped his fingers tightly and looked at him nervously. "What you said last time about being able to help my brother get out of prison early... is it true?"
The man looked with deep, dark eyes at the hand the woman had clamped onto his two fingers, his gaze then traveling upward to stare at her face.
The brief moment of tenderness from just before had frozen into ice.
He suddenly gave a cold laugh. "So, you've been so well-behaved lately and haven't been causing trouble with me because you want to save that cheap brother of yours who isn't even related by blood?"
Zhu Yuan didn't speak, only loosening her hand from his fingers.
Sheng Yu, however, suddenly grabbed her hand back and kneaded it into his palm, saying coldly, "I'll consider it."
Zhu Yuan got out of the car and walked into the hospital's inpatient department through the side entrance.
Sheng Yu withdrew his gaze and made a phone call.
Situ was at Sheng Tang picking up his luggage and was on his way to the Airport.
Upon receiving the call, he heard the man say, "Organize the files on that brother of hers who is in prison."
When Sheng Yu arrived at the Airport VIP lounge, Situ handed him a tablet with both hands.
"Young Master Yu, this is all the information on Zhu Jingyao."
Sheng Yu looked at the man on the tablet—refined, handsome, and gentle as jade—and his eyes were filled with icy coldness.
"After Zhu Jingyao graduated from graduate school, he joined the Aerospace Institute. Over a year ago, Miss Zhu was almost bullied by someone; Zhu Jingyao injured the other party to save her, paid a lot of money, was sentenced to three years, and still has a year and a half left to serve."
But even so, with such a stain on his record, Zhu Jingyao's once-promising life was ruined.
Sheng Yu's fingertips slid across the screen; looking at Zhu Jingyao's resume, it was already the ceiling for an ordinary person.
Even in their circle of the powerful and wealthy, setting aside money and power, he was a dragon among men.
But when he saw Zhu Jingyao's lifestyle habits, Sheng Yu's gaze grew even colder.
"He doesn't smoke or drink?"
Situ was stunned for a moment, then nodded. "Zhu Jingyao lives a very healthy life, doesn't smoke or drink, and has a very good temper. He is gentle as jade; even if others provoke him, he doesn't easily get angry. The only time he was impulsive was over a year ago."
Sheng Yu gave a cold snort and then looked at Zhu Jingyao's height.
One meter eighty-three.
That was indeed just over one meter eighty.
Aside from skin tone and appearance, every single point matched the standards for a man that Zhu Yuan had mentioned that day.
Even knowing that Zhu Yuan had intentionally described the opposite of him, Sheng Yu still threw the tablet aside with a cold face upon seeing Zhu Jingyao's information.
Situ's heart skipped a beat; he picked up the tablet and followed closely behind Sheng Yu's pace.
Zhu Yuan woke up, looked at the ceiling, and couldn't help but let the corners of her mouth lift.
Sheng Yu is on a business trip!
She jumped up from the bed in joy and hummed a little tune while she went to wash up.
It made Zhu Qi, in the hospital bed next to her, laugh.
"Why are you so happy?"
Zhu Yuan poked her head out from the bathroom and said with a smile, "I'm just happy."
After finishing breakfast with her grandfather, Zhu Yuan went to the theater.
As soon as she arrived at the dressing room, she saw a bouquet of fresh flowers on her vanity.
She subconsciously assumed it was sent by someone Pei Ling had called.
But when she picked up the card on the bouquet, she realized it wasn't Pei Ling.
"I really enjoyed your performance, wishing you a smooth run for next month's new play — Shen Yijing."
Sheng Hongyao's mistress!
Last time Shen Yijing held a birthday party on a cruise ship, she had watched her performance and shown appreciation for her, but she hadn't expected Shen Yijing to also follow her.
Zhu Yuan's hand felt as if it had been scalded, and she hurriedly tossed the card aside.
If Pei Ling sending her flowers was meant to annoy Sheng Yu, then Shen Yijing was Sheng Yu's minefield.
If Sheng Yu were to go crazy, he would be the death of her.
After calming down, Zhu Yuan burned the card.
She sat on the chair with a heavy expression when suddenly her phone rang; it was a call from Dong Shu.
As soon as the call connected, Dong Shu asked her, "Zhu Yuan, are you free this evening?"
"Yes, I don't have a performance tonight," Zhu Yuan replied.
"That's great, I'll come pick you up in the evening; there is something I need your help with."
In the evening, Dong Shu came to the theater to pick up Zhu Yuan.
She was driving a red supercar, invited Zhu Yuan into the car, and after taking Zhu Yuan out for a meal, she pulled Zhu Yuan back into the car again.
The car stopped in front of a villa.
"This is where I live, come on, come in."
Dong Shu held Zhu Yuan's hand as they entered the door.
Only then did Zhu Yuan see several rows of clothes arranged in the living room, all of them the latest styles from high-end luxury brands.
"You know I don't usually dress myself up much, and I don't know what kind of style suits me. I trust your aesthetic, could you help me, please?"
So that was what it was about.
Zhu Yuan agreed immediately, "A small matter."
Dong Shu excitedly grabbed her hand, "Then I'm counting on you, because..."
Zhu Yuan saw the usually bold and straightforward Dong Shu reveal the coy demeanor of a young woman: "This Saturday, I'm going to confess to the person I like."
