Chapter 146: Something Happened!
Cheng Sitao sighed helplessly in his heart.
"How come you're here?"
Madam Cheng was just doting on the grandson in her arms, but upon hearing his voice, her temper flared instantly.
She glared at him and said curtly.
"If I hadn't come, I don't know when I'd ever get to see my grandson."
Hearing this, a trace of confusion flashed through Yu'an's big blinking eyes.
What grandson?
Is the pretty auntie talking about Yu'an?
But Yu'an doesn't even know her.
Unable to figure it out, the little one decided to seek help from his own daddy.
"Daddy!"
Yu'an squirmed in Madam Cheng's arms and stretched out his little hands toward his daddy.
Cheng Sitao stepped forward, wanting to take the child.
But Madam Cheng turned around, blocking him with her back.
"Go away, I haven't held him enough yet."
She glared at Cheng Sitao again, her tone serious and brooking no refusal.
"Since the child is right here, we must do a paternity test today!"
Yu'an blinked in confusion.
What paternity test?
This auntie is really strange.
Why won't she let daddy hold Yu'an?
The little one pressed his small lips together and spoke in a milky voice.
"Pretty auntie, Yu'an wants daddy to hold me."
Hearing that soft, milky voice, Madam Cheng's expression instantly shifted from gloomy to sunny, radiant with warmth as she gazed lovingly at the little one in her arms.
"Not auntie, you should call me Grandma."
"Grandma?"
Now the little dumpling was even more confused.
He already has a grandmother.
The little one nervously twisted his fingers and hurriedly explained.
"But Yu'an already has his own grandmother."
Madam Cheng was slightly taken aback, about to say something, when suddenly the doorbell rang.
Cheng Sitao had no choice but to temporarily abandon the thought of explaining things to them and went to open the door first.
The door opened, and An Luo, seeing him, said excitedly.
"Good news, good news!"
"I think I've found a way to send you back!"
Cheng Sitao: "..."
He tilted his head slightly to glance at the bewildered mother and daughter of the Cheng family, thinking.
It seems I can't keep putting this off, I have to explain everything today!
An Luo, seeing his odd expression, followed his gaze and spotted two strangers in the Ke Ting.
"Uh..."
She took two steps back.
"You have guests? Then I'll head back first."
"Wait a moment."
Cheng Sitao took Yu'an from Madam Cheng's hands and placed him beside An Luo.
"Please look after Yu'an for a bit, we have some things to discuss."
"Hey, I haven't finished talking to Yu'an yet."
Madam Cheng was a little displeased and chased after him.
Cheng Sitao reached out to stop her, looking calmly at the mother and daughter.
"Mrs. Cheng, let's talk."
Cheng Ruonan, standing nearby, was surprised by these words and glanced at him, then shrunk her neck.
Wow, my brother.
You want to be the scumbag who seduces and abandons, and you think you're in the right?
And you have the nerve to get angry?
Is it because you've been a CEO for a few years and gotten cocky, or do you think your seemingly gentle mom can't lift a knife anymore?
Sure enough, upon hearing that form of address, Madam Cheng's hand shot up.
Mrs. Cheng?!
Is this brat asking for a beating?
But seeing his utterly serious face, she somehow suppressed the hand itching to strike.
Why does something feel so off?
Meanwhile, An Luo led the little one back to her own home.
"Those two people just now—does Yu'an know them?"
The little one nodded first, then shook his head.
"I only know one of them—Aunt Ruonan."
"It was she who brought Yu'an to find Daddy before. She also said she was Daddy's younger sister."
Daddy said Miss Ruonan was Daddy's nominal younger sister here, so out of politeness, he had to call her Aunt when they met.
Small Dumpling tugged at the little bun on top of her head, her big eyes full of puzzlement.
"Yu'an doesn't know the other auntie, and she was so weird—she even told Yu'an to call her Grandma."
An Luo: "!!!"
So those two people were the original Cheng Sitao's mother and younger sister?!
Thinking that a few more people were about to learn her secret, An Luo felt restless and troubled.
She sat on the blanket, distractedly keeping Zaituan company as she stacked blocks.
"Fairy Sister."
"Fairy Sister?"
An Luo came back to herself and saw the little one puffing up her cheeks, looking at her accusingly.
Only then did she notice that she had accidentally knocked over the little house Zaituan had just built.
"Sorry, Yu'an. Elder Sister was just thinking about something and got too absorbed—it wasn't on purpose."
The little one pressed her lips together and nodded.
"Fine, Yu'an forgives Elder Sister."
Afterwards, Small Dumpling still kept a straight little face and, in a milky voice, earnestly instructed her.
"Playing games is one thing, but Fairy Sister shouldn't always space out at other times—it's very dangerous."
The little expression on her face was extremely serious, but the contrast made her look especially adorably silly.
An Luo wore an auntie's-loving smile and rubbed the little one's head.
"Our Yu'an is really cute."
Letting her hands knead and squeeze his face, Yu'an shook his head helplessly, knit his little brows, and sighed wistfully.
He was being completely serious about lecturing her—couldn't Fairy Sister be a little more serious?
Such a tiny person, yet when she fretted, she really looked the part.
Seeing this, An Luo couldn't help it and shamelessly laughed.
Suddenly, the room door was knocked on.
It was Cheng Sitao.
After inviting him in, An Luo poured him a cup of warm water, feeling a little nervous.
"Did you explain everything?"
Cheng Sitao revealed a relieved smile.
"Finally said it out."
Then he looked at An Luo again.
"Don't worry—about the Live Stream Room, and those magical things on Yu'an, I didn't say a single word."
Hearing this, An Luo breathed a slight sigh of relief.
She herself would be fine—if discovered, she could just destroy her phone, and Yu'an could simply not come to the Modern Era anymore.
But Cheng Sitao couldn't—he had nowhere to hide.
If something happened to him, Yu'an would surely be very sad.
"By the way, you said earlier you found a way to let me go back?"
An Luo nodded, took out her phone and handed it to him, her tone excited.
"Look, this is it!"
"Originally there was only one door marked with the character 'Modern.' After today's upgrade, an extra door marked with the character 'Ancient' appeared."
After saying that, she saw Cheng Sitao staring blankly at the phone screen, and only then did she realize.
"Sorry about that—I got so excited I forgot again that you can't see these things."
Cheng Sitao smiled and shook his head.
"Don't say that. I'm the one who should be thanking you. You're the one who gave our family the possibility and hope of reuniting."
Seeing him so solemn, An Luo quickly waved her hands.
"Don't put it that way. Although this door has refreshed into existence, it's been in a grey state the whole time—how exactly to unlock it, and when it can be used, are still unknowns."
Hearing this, Cheng Sitao was a little disappointed, but still smiled and comforted her.
"No matter what, at least there's hope now, isn't there?"
"Where there's a will, there's a way—we'll find a way to unlock it eventually."
Afterwards, Cheng Sitao stood up and picked Yu'an up.
"Let's go—Daddy will take you out to play, okay?"
"Mm!"
Suddenly lifted high, Yu'an was so happy she grinned and giggled, her two little hands flapping like tiny wings a few times.
"Haha, again! Daddy lift me higher!"
"Okay!"
Cheng Sitao smiled dotingly and used his strength to lift the little one high above his head.
Father and son played like this a few more times, after which Cheng Sitao carried Yu'an away.
……
In the half month that followed, Cheng Sitao seemed even busier, not even having time each day to keep Yu'an company.
"Daddy says he needs to take Aunt Ruonan around to learn the business, to help her take over the company more smoothly."
Yu'an chatted with An Luo while playing with a remote-control airplane.
So that's how it is.
An Luo glanced at Zaituan's homepage — the Time-Space Gate was still a patch of grey.
No telling when it'll unlock.
Another twenty-odd days passed. They still hadn't found any clue to unlocking the Time-Space Gate, when the Cheng Family received some bad news.
"What did you say?"
Cheng Old Madam looked at Cheng Chengxuan with a solemn face.
"Zhou Old General has had an accident?!"
