Chapter 171: I Want to Report You

~7 min read 1,395 words

What surprised Lu Cheng was that Guo Tuzi actually knew one of the policemen.

Officer Cai, how did you come? Smoking, smoking.

Guo Tuzi changed his earlier arrogance, took out half a pack of Capital brand cigarettes, and quickly offered one.

But that policeman surnamed Cai glanced at it, saw it was the cheapest cheap cigarette, and didn't take it.

"Guo Tuzi, I still want to ask why you're here—you don't live in the shantytown, so what trouble did you stir up by coming here?"

Since he didn't smoke, Guo Tuzi also felt awkward smoking, putting it away while saying, "No trouble, no trouble, I didn't come here to take a bath."

"Why run so far just to take a bath? I saw you guys were about to fight just now."

"No fighting, no fighting, just messing around."

At this point Officer Cai couldn't be bothered with him, directly asked toward the door: "Who called the police just now?"

Old Sun immediately raised his hand, squeezed out from the door: "Comrade, I reported it—I'm the director of the public bathhouse, my surname is Sun."

Officer Cai nodded: "What happened? I heard a handgun was lost—whose handgun?"

Old Sun hastily explained, mainly saying Guo Tuzi refused inspection, then pulled Lu Cheng over.

Looking at Lu Cheng, Officer Cai furrowed his brow: "You lost the gun?"

"Yes, Officer Cai, it's a German-made handgun."

Officer Cai waved his hand: "No, no, I'm not concerned about the model of the handgun; I'm asking you, where did you get the gun?"

He thought Lu Cheng was an ordinary civilian, so the gun's origin needed to be investigated clearly.

Lu Cheng naturally understood, immediately took out his credentials; when Officer Cai glanced at them, he stopped asking about the gun's source.

"So you're a railway police officer—then we're comrades. Hello, comrade." Officer Cai extended his hand.

Seeing the other's friendly attitude, Lu Cheng also happily shook hands.

"Don't worry, comrade, I'll definitely find it." Officer Cai said, then turned his gaze to Guo Tuzi.

"Did you steal it?"

Guo Tuzi denied: "I didn't steal it."

Officer Cai snorted: "Whether you stole it or not, we'll know after a search. As Director Sun just said, we've searched everyone except you—you few, stand ready for the search…"

Just as Officer Cai was about to search the few people, Guo Tuzi's heart suddenly jolted—if he'd known earlier he wouldn't have tangled with Lu Cheng, he would have run away directly.

However, what he didn't expect was that at this moment an unfamiliar police officer stepped forward, stopped Officer Cai, pulled him aside, and started talking.

This left Guo Tuzi momentarily bewildered; looking at Lu Cheng, he sensed something was off.

He recognized Qin Shousheng, and the latter likewise recognized him.

Recalling the previous time on the train, when carrying out a mission he had pulled down Qin Shousheng's pants, he figured this guy would seek revenge.

Sure enough, as he had expected, after the two chatted a while, Officer Cai merely turned his head aside, clearly indicating he didn't want to pursue the matter further.

Next, Qin Shousheng stepped forward to question.

"Are you the director responsible for this bathhouse?"

"Yes." Old Sun hurriedly nodded, though he wondered in his heart, we were just about to search bodies—why did we stop?

"Did you search carefully inside the bathhouse?"

"We searched carefully, but just now we didn't check his locker; now he's come out clothed, so he might have it on him." Old Sun pointed at Guo Tuzi and said.

"You say it's right there!" Qin Shousheng retorted, ignoring the stunned Old Sun, then looked toward Lu Cheng.

He also hadn't expected to run into Lu Cheng here; thinking back to the incident of having his pants pulled down, he felt angry.

Today he must give him a proper lesson.

"Did you lose the gun?"

Lu Cheng felt this guy talked too much, repeating the same question he'd just asked.

But there was nothing he could do, after all this wasn't within railway jurisdiction.

"Yes."

"Where did you lose it?"

"In the bathhouse locker."

"When did you lose it?"

Lu Cheng drew a slight breath: "Can't you ask something useful? Still asking when it was lost—lost last year?"

"Just reported the incident, and you're still asking when it was lost!"

After being retorted, Qin Shousheng's face turned pale: "Whatever I ask you, just answer honestly—this isn't on your train!"

Seeing the officer lose his temper, Old Sun hurriedly smoothed things over: "Sorry, sorry, comrade—it was just lost just now."

Qin Shousheng tightened his clothes: "What else was lost?"

Fearing Lu Cheng would argue with the police again, Old Sun answered for him: "Nothing else was lost—money and tickets are all there, only a handgun was lost."

Qin Shousheng glanced: "That's strange—if it were a thief, why would he steal only a gun and not money?"

As Qin Shousheng asked that, Old Sun also felt puzzled, but indeed only a handgun was lost, money and valuables untouched.

Regarding Old Sun's reaction, Qin Shousheng was satisfied: "So I have reason to suspect—either you forgot it at home, or you dropped it on the road."

Lu Cheng took over: "Impossible—I specifically felt it when I locked it in the locker; the handgun was definitely inside, no mistake."

Old Sun naturally believed Lu Cheng, adding: "Yeah, comrade, since San'er is sure the handgun is in the locker, I think we should search the scene; if it's really not there, we can look elsewhere."

Qin Shousheng immediately glared: "Without direct evidence, on what basis can I search?"

Old Sun staggered a bit, not expecting this police officer's attitude: "But this is a gun—it's not a small matter."

"I say no search, then no search—release them immediately."

This even surprised Guo Tuzi—he had thought knowing Officer Cai could help him speak well, but instead an unfamiliar officer helped him.

This was truly an unexpected blessing.

Since they all said they'd let him go, Guo Tuzi was about to leave, but as soon as he turned around, Lu Cheng had already slapped handcuffs on his hand.

Guo Tuzi instantly got angry: "The police have let me go, on what authority are you handcuffing me?"

Lu Cheng ignored him, walked straight up to Qin Shou and whispered, "You did it on purpose, right?"

Qin Shou showed no hesitation and whispered back, "I did it on purpose; what can you do with me?"

"I can't do anything to you, but right now, I'm taking this person away."

"Dream on. As long as I'm here today, you won't be able to take him away."

Lu Cheng laughed in irritation; handing Guo Tuzi over to Qin Shou would surely yield no results, so the best move was to take him back to the Railway Bureau for internal handling.

But in front of the three police officers, how could he take Guo Tuzi away?

Lu Cheng suddenly recalled that Qin Shou had mentioned his father is a Deputy Bureau Chief of the Public Security Bureau.

"In that case, I'll report you to the Public Security Bureau."

Qin Shou spread his hands, almost laughing, "Fine, go ahead. Do you think I'm scared of you?"

He thought Lu Cheng was truly ridiculous; his dad is a Deputy Bureau Chief, reporting the son would be useless.

"Hold on, I'm going to make a call right now; whoever leaves will be a grandson." Lu Cheng said, walked to the counter inside, and dialed a number.

Qin Shou stood outside with his arms crossed, watching; after a few minutes when Lu Cheng finished the call, he asked, "All set, when are you coming?"

"Don't rush, half an hour."

"Alright, I'll be waiting."

Qin Shou let out a cold snort; he knew everyone up the chain.

Lu Cheng's call was purely a self‑inflicted hassle.

Officer Cai, standing nearby, saw the sudden stalemate and was inclined to say a few words of persuasion.

"Director Sun, why not drop this? That junior comrade's call to the Public Security Bureau won't help."

Officer Cai pointed at Qin Shou and whispered in Director Sun's ear, "His father is the chief."

Upon hearing that, Director Sun instantly felt the call was useless.

Yet Lu Cheng still didn't remove Guo Tuzi's handcuffs; instead he sat on the steps at the doorway, crossed his legs, and leisurely smoked a cigarette.
