Chapter 59: Jumping the Train Again

~8 min read 1,485 words

He called a Train Staff, opened the small door connecting to the Carriage, Lu Cheng grabbed the nearby iron railing, gave it a couple of scrapes and jumped onto the train roof.

The enemy operative was indeed on top, running along the Carriage roof toward the front of the train, occasionally looking down.

The train was now moving at high speed, apparently waiting for the speed to drop a bit before jumping down to escape.

Trying to catch him then would be difficult.

Lu Cheng leaned forward slightly and sprinted forward.

At that moment, the enemy operative clearly noticed someone following, turned around, stood there, and the whistling wind roared.

Seeing the opponent stop, Lu Cheng hesitated; the way the opponent had easily climbed up through the window earlier showed he was also a cultivator.

Being on the train roof, space is limited; a careless tumble onto the Iron Rail could cause minor injury at best, or death at worst.

Lu Cheng didn't dare to be careless; while continuing to close the distance, he reached for the handcuffs at his waist.

Yet when they were only ten meters apart, the enemy operative reached into his crotch.

What does that mean? Can't hold it and trying to pee?

Lu Cheng's eyes widened quickly; as the opponent pulled his hand from his crotch, a Handgun suddenly appeared in his hand.

"Damn, a gun!"

Lu Cheng was shocked and cursed inwardly about how the staff had searched him earlier, but he couldn't blame them; the search was only a quick pat, and who could have expected the cunning enemy operative to hide the gun in his crotch.

Lu Cheng halted, unwilling to act rashly; as the saying goes, even the highest skill fears a kitchen knife, let alone a Handgun in the opponent's hand.

He needed to think of a move!

"Look, a plane!"

"UFO! Alien!"

The enemy operative remained unmoved, raising his Handgun and slowly approaching.

"Quick, look, a woman is relieving herself!"

"Hey, hey, look, she peed!"

"……"

Lu Cheng stepped back slowly: "Don't act impulsively, please don't act impulsively, think of your family, think of your brothers and sisters… No response? Can't understand?"

"Gui Tian Wang Ba Sang Jun, the cherry blossoms in your hometown have bloomed, your madam is still waiting for you to return home."

As expected, mentioning one's hometown always stirs emotions, inevitably causing a surge of longing.

The enemy operative's face clearly showed expression; his brows furrowed, and he finally said, "So much nonsense, go tell King Yan."

As the words fell, his finger pulled the trigger, and with a "Bang", the Bullet shot out.

To the enemy operative's surprise, the shot missed; the Bullet skimmed the train roof, startling the Carriage passengers into shrieks, quickly turning chaos.

At the gunshot, Lu Cheng performed a swift side roll, barely evading the Bullet.

The flash was fine; he flipped to the outside of the train, luckily grabbing the protruding edge with both hands, his body hanging in midair, swinging uncontrollably as the train sped.

He was about to pull himself up forcefully, when the enemy operative stepped close and pressed his Handgun against his forehead.

"This is on you; when you end up as a ghost underground, don't blame me."

Lu Cheng's eyes suddenly lit up: "Look behind you, someone."

The enemy operative snorted coldly: "Are you trying to lull me like a three‑year‑old child? Die… ah!"

The enemy operative's gun‑holding arm was swiftly twisted behind him; it was the arriving Lei Zhan Ge, who in a couple of moves disarmed the Handgun.

Lu Cheng shook his head slightly: "I told you there was someone, yet you still don't believe."

Lei Zhan Ge crouched, looking at the hanging Lu Cheng, and couldn't help laughing: "How's that? Still need this old man to rescue you, come up."

Lei Zhan Ge extended his hand, but Lu Cheng didn't take it: "Captain Lei, you made a mistake; you shouldn't have rescued me first, you should have restrained the enemy operative."

Captain Lei narrowed his eyes, turned to look behind, and saw the fallen enemy operative roll and tumble off the train.

Captain Lei tried to grab him but failed; then Lu Cheng said, "Captain Lei, looks like I have to jump onto the train again, but just keep your old arms and legs up there; I'll definitely bring the person back to you."

After speaking, Lu Cheng kicked off the Carriage with both feet and swiftly flipped down.

Watching Lu Cheng roll a few times and stand, Captain Lei, smiling, said, "Young man, you're quite brave, but this old man isn't a coward either."

……

The Carriage was already in chaos; when they heard a Human Trafficker snatching a child, Ding Han Zhen led the Train Police over, only to suddenly hear gunfire.

A curious passenger leaned on the window and said, "Someone fell off the train."

"Look, another person jumped off the train."

Ding Han Zhen was stunned, wondering what was happening; the once‑quiet Carriage suddenly erupted with so many incidents—human traffickers and people jumping off the train.

"Everyone stay calm and maintain order inside the train."

Just as Ding Han Zhen shouted, a Train Police officer called out, "That's our Xizhimen Train Police Unit's Lu Cheng."

"Who? How could Lu Cheng jump off the train!"

"Someone else jumped off the train, looks like Captain Lei."

"What? Captain Lei!" Ding Han Zhen couldn't continue calming passengers and immediately leaned on the window to watch.

Upon confirming it was indeed Captain Lei, he was shocked; Captain Lei was quite old, how could he still jump off the train?

"Captain Lei and Lu Cheng are chasing someone; could it be an enemy operative? Quickly, notify the Jiwu Section to stop the train."

……

Since he had been hanging on the train before jumping, his landing was awkward; Lu Cheng twisted his foot upon hitting the ground.

Nevertheless, he quickly pursued the enemy operative, who also struggled, rolling off the train and getting up with a limp.

"Run, keep running!"

Lu Cheng remained unhurried; without a gun, the opponent was like a tiger that had its teeth pulled.

Even if the opponent made a few token resistances, it wasn't enough for Lu Cheng; he swiftly swept a leg, flipping him onto the ground, then turned him over and cuffed his hands with the handcuffs.

Lei Zhan'ge arrived shortly after, Lu Cheng looked up: "Captain Lei, I already told you just wait, this kind of trivial matter doesn't even merit your great effort."

Lei Zhan'ge smiled: "Let's not talk about that now, you performed well today; I didn't expect Team Captain Zhou to have such soldiers."

Lei Zhan'ge felt a talent‑appreciating sentiment, but unfortunately Lu Cheng is from Xizhimen, not Beijing Station.

Lu Cheng hauled the enemy operative up: "Captain Lei, we were lucky you arrived in time; otherwise my head would have blown up today. Next time we have a similar mission, you'll have to provide us with a gun."

Lei Zhan'ge nodded: "It was indeed very thrilling…"

At that moment, the train suddenly emitted a harsh screech of brakes.

Lei Zhan'ge turned his head and glanced: "Ding Jingzhang and the others are here; first get the people onto the train… what's wrong with your leg?"

Lu Cheng shook that leg: "Oh, nothing serious, probably twisted when I jumped onto the train… maybe the bone is broken, hiss, you'd think I'd feel it, but I didn't earlier; now it hurts a lot."

This counts as a Work Injury, so we have to exaggerate the severity; the superiors will have to visit, and we can't just stand by empty‑handed.

Lei Zhan'ge was startled in his mind—his bone was broken, yet he could still chase the enemy operative so swiftly; for such a young age, he's quite resilient.

Lei Zhan'ge couldn't help but admire him more.

Ding Han Zhen led a group of Train Police over: "Captain Lei, are you okay?"

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

"Captain Lei, what's this?"

"This is the enemy operative we're after."

"Huh? How did you find them?"

Lei Zhan'ge waved his hand: "It's a long story; first get the person onto the carriage. Oh, and send two people to lift Xiao Lu onto the carriage; his leg is injured."

When Liu Jian'an came forward to help him, Lu Cheng immediately pointed at the tall team member: "No need to bother two people; just have him carry me."

"You, me, Captain Lei, him…"

Lei Zhan'ge's Eagle Eye was sharp: "Xiao Lu is our hero; without him we couldn't have captured the enemy operative."

The tall team member instantly stood at attention: "It's Captain Lei!"

Inside the Dining Car, the enemy operative was taken in with a double‑hand reverse grapple; everyone's expression was a mix of tension and excitement.

They could hardly wait to search the documents right away and see what secret they hide inside.
