Chapter 240: Wilson

~6 min read 1,059 words

One after another, grateful phone calls came into the Trading Room, and the atmosphere grew increasingly lively. The traders finally understood the boss's intention, and excitement lit up each face. It turned out their boss wasn't conceding; he was playing a very big game of chess.

"So that's it—on the surface we appear to concede, but in fact we're making money!" Zhang Qiming suddenly realized, admiration flashing in his eyes, "The more Wilson pushes the stock price up, the more our Long Position is worth! It's using their force against them, a tiny effort moving a thousand pounds!"

Lin Yuchen's face reddened with excitement, her voice trembling from excitement: "This strategy is sheer genius! Not only did we avoid direct conflict, we also used their power to make huge profits! Boss, you're literally the Zhuge Liang of finance!"

Other traders burst into applause, each stunned by the miraculous maneuver. They finally understood why the boss treated them to a celebration last night for the "humiliating defeat."

At eleven a. m., Lu Qingshan suddenly stood, his voice calm: "Qingjun, come with me for a walk."

"Second brother, now?" Lu Qingjun was a bit surprised, watching the numbers still flickering on the screen, "The market is at a critical moment; aren't you watching? The situation here changes in an instant—what if an accident occurs?"

"Ye Ning will handle it." Lu Qingshan glanced at the Trading Room, a deep glint in his eyes, "A true master is never swayed by market fluctuations. Be back in an hour."

Ye Ning sprang to her feet: "Boss, go ahead without worry; we've got the Trading Room covered."

The two brothers left the Far East Exchange, and Lu Qingshan led Lu Qingjun to an unassuming cha chaan teng in Central. The eatery was sparsely populated, soft Cantonese old songs playing, and in a corner sat a middle‑aged man who looked ordinary but whose gaze was sharp.

"Mr. Lu," the middle‑aged man stood, his voice low, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

Lu Qingshan sat down and asked directly: "How's the situation? Any new moves from Wilson's side?"

"According to our internal intel, the Yingzi Group has poured in nearly HK$7 billion," the man produced an envelope, his expression grave, "Wilson held an emergency meeting last night and decided to increase the investment today. Their goal is to push the Hang Seng Index past its historic high and utterly crush the Chinese Chamber of Commerce."

Lu Qingshan took the envelope and skimmed the documents inside. The data showed the Yingzi Group had mobilized every available resource, even persuading typically conservative funds to join. Wilson even pledged that if losses occurred, HSBC would underwrite them.

"Seven billion," Lu Qingshan repeated the figure softly, a faint sneer curling his lips, his eyes flashing with the excitement a hunter feels upon spotting prey, "Looks like Wilson is truly desperate; with such a massive sum, he wants to swallow us whole."

Lu Qingjun listened, his heart pounding; HK$7 billion was nearly several times their total assets. If they truly went head‑to‑head, there was no chance of victory.

"There's another piece of intel," the man continued, his voice even lower, "The Imperial Governor's Office has pledged that if this operation succeeds, it will grant the Yingzi Group additional policy support. They view this move as a crucial step to safeguard Hong Kong Island's financial stability. The Governor himself issued a direct order to preserve the Yingzi Group's authority at any cost."

Lu Qingshan nodded, tucked the documents away, and pulled a thick envelope from his coat: "Good work, you've earned this. Keep monitoring Wilson's movements, and inform me immediately upon any news."

He handed over the envelope; the middle‑aged man weighed it, nodded in satisfaction, and left swiftly.

On the way back to the exchange, Lu Qingjun couldn't help asking, "Brother, with the Yingzi Group pouring in so much money, can we really handle it? Seven billion—just thinking about that number makes my scalp tingle."

"Qingjun, have you ever seen a fisherman hook a fish?" Lu Qingshan looked into the distance, his voice carrying unfathomable wisdom, "The bigger the fish, the more fiercely it thrashes. But the harder it thrashes, the more energy it wastes and the quicker it dies. Wilson now is like a big fish caught on a hook; the harder he struggles, the deeper he sinks."

His voice deepened: "Seven billion sounds terrifying, but it also means they have no way out. Once we strike back, their losses will be tenfold, even a hundredfold ours. That's what we call turning a death trap into a rebirth."

Back in the Trading Room, Ye Ning rushed forward, excitement written on her face: "Boss, after the midday session the Yingzi Group increased its investment, and the Hang Seng Index rose another three points! Our Long Position is now profitable by over HK$700 million! The combined profit of all Chinese Chamber of Commerce firms exceeds HK$1.5 billion!"

Her voice trembled with uncontainable jubilation; the speed of the earnings was almost unbelievable. The entire Trading Room buzzed with excitement, every face lit with a victorious smile.

"Moreover," Ye Ning continued, "our calculations show Wilson's funds are nearing their limit. If the Hang Seng Index climbs another five points, they'll have to post additional Margin. At that moment, it'll be the optimal time for us to cast the net."

Lu Qingshan moved to the window, watching the bustling scene outside. The skyscrapers of Gangdao Zhonghuan glittered in the sun, the streets teemed with endless traffic, yet he knew a far larger storm was about to break.

"Ye Ning, inform everyone," Lu Qingshan turned, a dangerous glint in his eyes, his voice low and powerful, "The Yingzi Group has poured in seven billion, fully taking the bait. Tell the Chinese Chamber of Commerce bosses to get ready to witness history."

His voice rose even more: "Wilson thinks he's playing a grand chess game, but he's merely a piece on our board. Now is the time to cast the net. Let those British see what Chinese wisdom truly is!"

The Trading Room fell silent in an instant, everyone sensing the tense, impending‑storm atmosphere. The regal aura radiating from Lu Qingshan set everyone's blood boiling.

The real war is about to begin. This time, the Chinese will no longer be hunted prey, but predators perched atop the food chain.
