Chapter 211 : Thunderous Momentum
Thunderous Momentum
"Defend!"
Quells shouted loudly. Immediately, several undead mages ceased supplying mana to the barrier and began chanting magic.
However, the first volley of sneak attack arrows didn't give them much time.
Puff! Puff! Puff!
Several undead mages were struck right through the chest by arrows on the spot. A few other mages were seriously wounded. Only a handful of undead mages hiding on the other side of the barrier barely escaped.
"Bone Wall!"
As everyone began to react, multiple bone walls rose up for cover. Quells and the others quickly hid behind them. Then, the second volley arrived.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Arrows struck the bone walls with crisp, metallic sounds. Although the arrows could no longer deal much damage, the dense rain of arrows suppressed the undead mages. Seizing the chance, a squad of Skeleton Cavalry charged out from the woods.
"Counterattack, quickly!"
With this order, the bone walls crumbled, and the fallen bones began to reassemble. One by one, the temporarily summoned Skeletons joined the battlefield.
But they had barely gotten their footing when the lances of the cavalry were already aimed at their skulls.
Clack! Clack! Clack!
The cavalry swept past, slaughtering large numbers of Skeletons, then burst through to the rear of the group.
What happens when a magic class is hit by a cavalry charge?
Puff!
One undead mage after another was run through by a lance. Although some undead mages knew to use bone walls to obstruct the cavalry's advance, most were still busy channeling mana into the barrier and had no hands free.
"Argh!"
Hearing the screams of his subordinates, quells looked panicked.
"Damn it, where did these underworld Undead come from? And why are there so many of them?"
"Bishop, what do we do? There are too many underworld Undead! In order to keep our actions hidden, we didn't even bring many undead minions out, we can't hold them!"
"Hold them anyway, we're so close to victory! We have to hang on."
Quells shouted, and more Skeleton fodder joined the battle. Their numbers swelled by nearly two hundred within just a dozen seconds, and they were still increasing—this was the terrifying part of undead mages.
But fodder is still just fodder. Those Skeletons with an average level of only 8 could only be slaughtered by the Skeleton Cavalry. Seeing this, quells gritted his teeth.
It looked like he'd have to take action himself!
"Chilia!"
Quells gave a shout, and in response, a Skeleton wielding a lance appeared, flanked by two heavily armored Skeletons—three underworld Undead!
Serea glanced curiously at the three Skeletons that had suddenly charged out of the woods. Two were Skeleton Warriors of level 17, while the last...
Level 25, silver elite—Death Lancer!
The lance-bearing Skeleton called "Chilia" charged into battle with the two Skeleton Warriors. Seeing the onrushing Skeleton Cavalry, he swept his lance around in a wide arc.
Boom!
One of the Skeleton Cavalry was knocked off his mount, and, afterwards, the two Skeleton Warriors moved in to finish him off.
"Traitor, die!"
Suddenly, however, the Black Knight charged over, and with a downward sweep of his scythe, chilia was forced to raise his lance to block.
Clang!
Chilia was driven back, and meanwhile, several Skeleton Cavalry slipped past, knocking the two Skeleton Warriors aside and covering their allies.
Upon facing the Black Knight, the soul-flame in Chilia's eyes flickered.
"I only obey my master's orders. Betrayal was never my intention."
As he spoke, chilia raised his lance and knocked the scythe blade aside, then thrust forward in counterattack.
As a cavalryman, the Black Knight lost his advantage by giving up his charge and clashing forcefully with Chilia. And from the two Skeletons' exchanged words, it seemed they knew each other.
Traitor? Could it be...
"I'll handle this traitor!"
Sure enough, talius burst forward, followed by dozens of Skeleton Warriors. Seeing that squad of Skeleton Warriors, quells was completely dumbstruck.
"This... this... that's impossible, why are there so many of them!"
And that wasn't all. After the Skeleton Warriors rushed out, the archers hidden in the rear also charged forward. They were beautiful, handsome elves, their silver hair fluttering in the breeze, riding atop black beasts.
"Carrion Beasts! Why are there so many!"
Quells' entire worldview was shattered. Before he could react, the Carrion Beasts, carrying the elves, swiftly maneuvered around to the flanks. Seizing the chance, they unleashed a barrage of arrows as if they cost nothing.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Skeletons were shattered one after another. Several wounded undead mages were finished off. With their mana connection broken, the underworld barrier teetered on the verge of collapse. Quells couldn't worry about that anymore—what he needed to think about was how to deal with this suddenly-appearing force.
"Die!"
Talius swung his long sword, knocking Chilia's lance aside. The Black Knight broke free and charged again, and Chilia tried to intercept, but what greeted him was Talius' sword storm, wild and relentless as a squall.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Chilia was suppressed. Back when serving under Leklis, talius had never beaten Chilia, but now things were different—Talius wielded newfound strength.
"Damn, undead of the abyss, grant me..."
Quells wanted to use a summoning skill to call stronger followers, but suddenly a surge of killing intent washed over him.
"Dare profane our sovereign—prepare to face death's judgment!"
A dark figure dropped from the sky. As Quells saw this, he pulled up a bone wall.
Boom!
The bone wall rose, but someone had predicted Quells' move. A giant fireball arced beautifully across the battlefield.
Boom!
The bone wall had barely formed when it was shattered. The shadow landed before Quells, and as a bone blade stabbed at him, quells had no time to dodge—he shoved Astor forward.
Puff!
"Ah!!!"
The bone blade pierced Astor's shoulder. Astor howled in agony, and Little Black, intentionally sparing his life, pressed down on the blade, forcing Astor to his knees from the pain.
"Go to hell!"
Quells tried to counterattack, but suddenly, an arrow lodged into his kneecap.
"Argh!"
Quells dropped to one knee. Noticing the staff still in his hand, Little White released another shot.
Power Shot!
Snap!
The arrow sheared Quells' bone staff cleanly in two, and he toppled backward from the force.
Quells tried to rise again, but a sharp tail blade thrust into his shoulder, pinning him to the ground.
"Ah! Don't kill me, I surrender!"
Knowing he was helpless, quells could only beg for mercy. The other undead mages also tried to surrender upon seeing this, but the Carrion Beasts crashed into their ranks, and with the blood elves flanking from behind, the undead mages were killed before they could even finish begging.
Thunderous momentum!
