Chapter 29: Did This Kid Sell the Iron Certificate?
Waking up, washing his face, brushing his teeth, heading downstairs... Lin Sicheng didn't even take ten minutes.
He sprinted all the way, arriving at school like a gust of Wind, his stomach already starting to churn with acid.
It was all his mother's fault.
It was only six million, and six million that existed only in imagination at that, yet she had interrogated him for half the night.
By the time his mother remembered her darling son hadn't eaten yet, it was already two in the morning. She happily went to cook noodles, but in her excitement, she added salt twice.
Forget it, he would just stay hungry...
Fearing he wouldn't be able to get in line at the student canteen, Lin Sicheng headed straight for the Faculty Canteen.
It wasn't too crowded, but that was only relative. Picking the window with the fewest people, Lin Sicheng squeezed over:
"Big Sister, I'd like a large portion of Sausage Noodles, extra soup, extra noodles, and extra chili."
"One steamer of small steamed buns!"
"And two meat burgers!"
Lin Sicheng was a regular, and the auntie recognized him. Seeing him only pull out one pair of chopsticks, she was startled: "Kid, it's early in the morning, can you finish all that?"
"Of course!"
The auntie was fast. Lin Sicheng carried the food to the table in two trips, picked up his chopsticks, and dug in.
Just as he was eating with gusto, two figures passed by the table.
"Huh, where did a student come from in the Faculty Canteen?"
"Don't worry about it, what do you want to eat?"
"Senior Sister, I'll have..."
Following the sound, the two walked toward the window, and Lin Sicheng glanced over casually.
A man and a woman; the woman was around thirty, likely a counselor at the Heritage College. The man was twenty-six or twenty-seven, very unfamiliar, perhaps just hired.
Lin Sicheng had no time to spare, continuing to shovel in his food.
After about ten minutes, presumably because there were no other seats, the two walked over with their trays. After asking, they sat down opposite Lin Sicheng.
The man was very attentive, serving porridge and handing over chopsticks.
"Senior Sister Feng, I owe you a lot for the teaching assistant matter! Let me know when it's convenient, and I'll treat you to a meal."
"We'll see!"
"I'll still need your guidance in the future; if there's anything not quite right, please point it out!"
"Okay!"
"Professor Wang has a class in a bit, is there anything I can help with?"
"Just organize the students and keep track of attendance!"
"Got it, Senior Sister, what is Professor Wang lecturing on today?"
"Mixed reinforcement of bronze Cultural Relics!"
The two were sitting right across from him; Lin Sicheng couldn't help but overhear.
It was a coincidence, too; the Cultural Relics Protection Class practical session later was apparently being taught by this Professor Wang they mentioned?
The male teacher talked incessantly while the female teacher only hummed in response. Lin Sicheng listened while he ate; after finishing the buns and noodles, he gnawed on the meat burger with the noodle soup.
After only a few bites, his phone rang with a "ding-a-ling." The male teacher's speech was interrupted, and he glanced at him.
Lin Sicheng answered it casually: "Senior Brother Hao!"
"It's so noisy, did you go to school?"
"I'm a student, where else would I go if not to school?"
"With your attitude, why even go to school?"
"Say that to my grandfather's face next time you see him!"
Hao Jun laughed: "The finance department is closing the books at the end of the month. If the payment isn't released today, it'll take several more days. If you trust me, I'll sign for that 300,000 for you!"
He had even brought him along to pick up a multi-million windfall?
"Why wouldn't I trust you? It's yours!"
"That's 300,000, you know?"
"If you think that's not enough, Senior Brother, I can add a bit more!"
"Lin Sicheng, if you're going to say that, 300,000 really isn't enough. My requirements aren't high; when you have a chance, just help me pick up a pot like the one from yesterday!"
"One isn't enough? You've got to pick up at least eight or ten..."
"Lin Sicheng, say that again, I want to record it!"
The two joked for a few sentences, and Lin Sicheng hung up the phone.
The male teacher opposite had a strange expression, looking as if he were holding back laughter.
His own monthly salary was only a little over a thousand, yet this student was talking about 300,000 as if it were nothing?
What a braggart.
Just as he found it amusing, a figure stopped by the table.
Being in the same college and both counselors, the two naturally knew each other.
Li Zhen nodded at Feng Lin and tapped the table.
Lin Sicheng looked up, looking slightly dazed: "Senior Sister Li? Eat with us!"
"I've already eaten. I saw you from afar and thought it was you!" Li Zhen pursed her lips, "You finish eating, I'll find you to talk about something when you're done!"
Lin Sicheng paused: What was it about? Professor Shang asking him to take the postgraduate entrance exam?
His grandfather must have called, but presumably, Professor Shang felt he could still save a piece of rotten wood like him, so he wanted to do some ideological work in person?
He shook his head: "I have class right after I finish eating!"
"It won't take long, at most one class period."
This isn't considered long?
Lin Sicheng looked at the two people opposite him: "According to Xiao Yuzhu, Professor Wang is a newcomer and also serves as a leader of the department; he's extremely strict!"
Li Zhen was both angry and amused: So what if he's a department leader? It's not like you haven't skipped the Dean's class before?
Just as she was about to say something, Lin Sicheng pointed at the two opposite: "If you don't believe me, ask this Senior Sister and Senior Brother?"
Li Zhen finally realized: Aren't these two opposite the Teaching Assistants for the new Professor Wang?
What a coincidence?
"Fine, then I'll come find you next class." She pursed her lips and smiled, "Anyway, Professor Shang doesn't have any classes all day today!"
Sure enough, Professor Shang asked her to come?
Lin Sicheng sighed: "No need to trouble Senior Sister, I'll go myself after class."
"You promise?"
"Would I lie to you?"
"Good!"
Nodding toward the two opposite, Li Zhen turned and left.
After all, having just entered the workplace, his mind was quite simple; the male teacher looked curious: "Is the student from the senior year of the Cultural Heritage Conservation Department?"
"Yes!"
"What did Professor Shang want with you?"
Lin Sicheng said right away: "Didn't hand in my homework!"
How is that possible?
A dignified professor would never send their own Teaching Assistant to chase someone to the cafeteria just because a student didn't hand in homework.
Instinctively, Xu Bo's impression of Lin Sicheng deepened by another notch: not only does he love to brag, but he also talks nonsense.
Lin Sicheng buried his head in his meal, and Xu Bo found it hard to ask more; just as he wanted to deepen his connection with the Senior Sister, Feng Lin pointed at her watch: "Time is almost up, we still need to prepare the materials!"
"Oh, oh... right!"
After wolfing down the porridge in the bowl in a few bites, the two stood up.
Immediately, Lin Sicheng's phone went "beep," and the screen lit up.
Purely subconsciously, the male teacher glanced at it: Your card ending in **** received a transfer of 300,000 yuan, balance...
Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands... three hundred thousand?
The male teacher's head went numb: Is it really three hundred thousand?
His monthly salary is only one thousand one hundred.
"How could there be three hundred thousand?"
"He's just a student?"
"That's three hundred thousand, after all?"
Feng Lin paused: I didn't realize this Teacher Xu had such poor mental fortitude?
Along the way, he was like a lost soul, muttering as he walked, his mouth never stopping.
Back in the laboratory, he was still muttering?
She sighed: "Teacher Xu, you should take a break this class!"
"Ah? Senior Sister, why?"
"In your state, how could I dare let you assist with the experiment? What if you accidentally spill acid on the professor's hand?"
Xu Bo was stunned and gave a sheepish smile: "I just can't figure it out, a student, where did he earn three hundred thousand?"
"Teacher Xu, why do you have to dwell on this question? Even if he picked up this three hundred thousand, what does it have to do with you or your work?"
Before the words had even faded, there was an "Eh" from outside the door: "Who picked up three hundred thousand?"
The two turned their heads; Wang Qi Zhi walked into the laboratory carrying a laptop.
"Professor Wang!"
Wang Qi Zhi smiled: "I heard you talking, who picked up three hundred thousand?"
"It's Lin Sicheng... We just went to the cafeteria to eat and happened to sit at the same table as him. It just so happened that someone called him and transferred three hundred thousand to him..."
"Who?" Wang Qi Zhi was stunned, "Lin Sicheng?"
"Yes, just last week, the student you met downstairs when you went to the Academic Affairs Center, Professor Wang!"
Wang Qi Zhi's face darkened: "Where would he get three hundred thousand?"
Did this kid sell the Iron Certificate?
