Chapter 74: The Giant Mutated Ice Vegetable

After advancing to Lord, the original 【Gluttony Lion】 could no longer produce good effects; consuming the flesh and blood of Lord-level creatures could no longer continue to improve his physical qualities.

Chen Mo had originally been somewhat worried, but to his surprise, an enhanced self-discipline challenge version of 【Gluttony Lion】 had now directly appeared! Without hesitation, he selected the 【Gluttony Lion+】 self-discipline challenge and then used the 【Super Self-Discipline Card】.

Next, he needed to eat 2000kg of extraordinary meat every day for 15 consecutive days! Before long, Chen Mo discovered that the surprises 【Farming Lion】 brought him were not limited to just this.

About half an hour later, the ice vegetables that had already been close to maturing rapidly grew, bloomed, and bore fruit after being nourished by the spirit rain.

Among this batch of ice vegetables, Chen Mo noticed one that seemed slightly special.

Its color was similar to the blue of the other ice vegetables, but its size was more than double, making it exceptionally conspicuous!

Chen Mo observed it and quickly obtained the relevant information—

Ice Vegetable (Mutated) "A mutant variant of the ice vegetable; the leaves contain extremely unstable ice-type spiritual power; slight contact may cause an explosion."

The spirit plant had mutated! After equipping 【Farming Lion】, planted plants would have an extremely small probability of mutating and developing special effects!

Chen Mo waited for this mutated ice vegetable to bloom and bear fruit, collected the seeds, then gently pulled out the ice vegetable and tossed it away.

The moment the ice vegetable touched the ground, it let out a "Bang!" with frost splashing in all directions, its power roughly similar to that of an earthen bomb.

"Interesting!"

Although the power of the ice vegetable bomb was not great, the production cost was extremely low; if it could be mass-planted, it would still be a very nice "toy."

"Plant vegetables! Keep planting vegetables!"

Chen Mo wanted to see whether this mutated ice vegetable could be mass-cultivated, and whether other mutated plants could be bred.

So next, he cast Lesser Spirit Rain Art on all the other unripened ice vegetables.

Then he went out to refine a Regional Spirit.

Xiaobai had found another Regional Spirit.

It would be just in time to check the results when he returned.

————————

Evening.

After refining the Ice Crystal Butterfly clan's Regional Spirit, Chen Mo went straight to the farm, wanting to see whether any new mutated plants had been born.

The result left him slightly disappointed.

Of the seeds sown from that earlier mutated ice vegetable, most of what grew were just ordinary ice vegetables.

Over 200 mutated seeds only produced 3 exploding ice vegetables.

The probability had increased slightly.

In addition, over 5000 ordinary ice vegetable seeds surprisingly only produced one mutated ice vegetable, and it was still an exploding ice vegetable.

It seemed the probability of plant mutation was exceedingly minute.

Only a few thousandths.

Though the probability was small, it was not a big problem.

As long as the quantity planted was large enough, mutated plants could still be cultivated.

"It's a pity no ice vegetables with other effects mutated—or is it that a single plant can only produce one type of mutant variant?"

Chen Mo speculated in his heart.

He then collected some seeds and began a new round of sowing.

After some thought, Chen Mo decided to make a trip to the Frost Sheep territory.

There were two main purposes.

One was to share the 【Farming Lion】 self-discipline challenge with the Frost Sheep Leader, to strengthen its planting proficiency.

The second was to ask the Frost Sheep Leader for more plant seeds suitable for growing in a snowy mountain environment, to try cultivating mutated plants with even more special effects!

"Baa~"

The Frost Sheep Leader was cultivating various spirit plants; ever since the Lion King last assigned it the task of 【cultivating spirit plants that enhance biological reproduction speed】, it had been cultivating various spirit plants day and night these past few days.

It hoped to cultivate the spirit plant the Lion King wanted. Upon seeing the Lion King, it hurriedly ran over.

"Roar!" (Frost Sheep Leader, I've already learned Lesser Spirit Rain Art. Do you have seeds of other spirit plants here? Best to have a few hundred of each kind!) Chen Mo stated his purpose directly.

"Baa?"

The Frost Sheep Leader was stunned for a moment.

Seeing the Frost Sheep Leader stunned, Chen Mo roughly guessed what it was thinking, so he directly cast a "Lesser Spirit Rain Art."

Watching the Ice Lion King skillfully cast Lesser Spirit Rain Art, the Frost Sheep Leader was shocked into a daze.

"Baa?" (Ah?)

Wait, His Majesty the Lion King actually learned it!?

One must know that countless extraordinary herbivorous creatures had wanted to learn Lesser Spirit Rain Art, but none had succeeded.

Most extraordinary abilities were innate talents of a given race; it was very difficult for other races to learn them.

It had previously given the inheritance tree bark to the Lion King partly to curry favor with him, and partly because it was certain the Lion King would choose to give up after trying in vain.

The Lion King must have acted on a whim when he wanted to learn farming; he would give up in a few days.

After all, it was a meat-eating lion—why would it learn to farm? Yet the Lion King had learned 【Lesser Spirit Rain Art】 in just two short weeks! Could it be that His Majesty the Lion King was truly a farming genius!? "Baa~"

Fortunately, His Majesty the Lion King had not yet learned 【Greater Spirit Rain Art】.

Otherwise it would really start doubting its sheep life!

After scoring 26 different types of plant seeds from the Frost Sheep Leader, Chen Mo returned to his little vegetable garden with great satisfaction.

Besides scoring seeds, he also required the Frost Sheep Leader to persist in tilling the land and planting vegetables every day, especially the mutated ice vegetable seeds it had provided, in order to smoothly complete the 【Farming Lion】 self-discipline challenge.

After burying all the seeds in the soil, Chen Mo cast "Lesser Spirit Rain Art" once more, then watered the seeds again.

After finishing all this work, looking at the dozen or so neatly arranged vegetable plots, each planted with different seeds.

Chen Mo felt very satisfied.

"I wonder what kind of mutated plants these seeds will grow into?"

He suddenly experienced the joy of farming!

This feeling of not knowing what would grow was simply too intoxicating for him! ————————

Time flew by.

Over the next few days, apart from refining the Spirit of the Land, Chen Mo was absorbed in farming every day.

He would go check his vegetable garden almost every little while to see if any plants had ripened and if any mutations had occurred.

If not, he would give them a blast of Minor Spirit Rain Art! The first day.

Among the sown seeds, only the icegrass had ripened.

Because of the large quantity planted, mutated icegrass naturally appeared among them.

Icegrass (Mutated) "A mutated individual of icegrass, extremely enlarged"

The mutated icegrass had no special effects—it was just extremely big!

Ordinary icegrass was only a dozen or so centimeters tall, but the mutated icegrass was fully several meters tall!

Grass that grew as tall as a small tree!

After planting mutated icegrass seeds for several generations, Chen Mo finally obtained icegrass seeds with a mutation rate as high as 10%.

This mutation probability was already very high.

Chen Mo called the Frost Sheep Leader over.

The mutated icegrass had quite impressive value—a single plant was truly enough to fill you up! It could absolutely be cultivated on a large scale in the pasture! Looking at the seven-or-eight-meter-tall icegrass before him, the Frost Sheep Leader blinked, its gaze vacant.

Did icegrass this big really exist!?
