Chapter 16: Illegal Medical Practice, No Graduation

~7 min read 1,324 words

"Ruined, I'm going to get caught."

Wang Chuan activated the Golden Finger purely for that purpose, not to show off; besides, Xiao Rongyue's injured body parts were few, the total number of wounds was small, and the wounds were shallow, making debridement and suturing not difficult.

Moreover, in his past life, Xiao Rongyue was his own brother-in-law, a relative, so he wouldn't operate on others.

Before performing the suturing, Wang Chuan knew his action faced three liabilities.

Civil liability, fortunately, Xiao Rongyue wouldn't trouble him. Xinzhou People's Hospital was unlikely to sue him; otherwise, everyone would know that letting an intern operate alone would damage the hospital's reputation.

Criminal liability, the crime of illegal medical practice, requires "serious circumstances," such as causing disability or death, which did not constitute it.

The key was administrative liability; according to the "Practicing Physician Law," without physician registration and obtaining a practicing certificate, one must not engage in physician practice activities; he was definitely in violation.

So Wang Chuan stood aside and said in a very humble and sincere tone, "Being able to assist Doctor Ye allowed me to learn a lot. Doctor Ye is a good Mentor Teacher."

Wang Chuan glanced at Xiao Rongyue, his eyeballs rolling.

Xiao Rongyue understood and also spoke up, "Yes, thank you so much, Doctor Ye. Doctor Ye's skill is superb."

Ye Jiaxing was about to awkwardly say it wasn't him who operated, but seeing Wang Chuan and Xiao Rongyue's attitude, he thought to himself that this Intern understood human affairs.

More importantly, if he didn't take responsibility, Doctor Qi might be criticized.

According to relevant regulations, medical students participating in clinical diagnosis and treatment activities for medical education must be supervised and guided by clinical Mentor Teachers and must not provide clinical diagnosis and treatment services to patients alone.

For Wang Chuan's operation, Doctor Qi must have been present. Although in reality, when there were many patients, interns performed simple operations, and the Mentor Teacher just signed at the end.

Ye Jiaxing smiled and nodded slightly, "This Intern, Wang Chuan, assisted well."

If he knew Wang Chuan was not an Intern at Xinzhou People's Hospital at all, Ye Jiaxing would definitely regret his words just now.

Director Hao Yun saw the handsome young man Wang Chuan. "Are you the Intern who just arrived today?"

"Director Hao, yes, just arrived today."

Director Hao Yun had no idea he had been deceived, by Ye Jiaxing, by Wang Chuan, and by Xiao Rongyue. He touched his bald head and said with a smile, "Good, by the way, which Medical School are you from..."

He was interrupted by the voice of Qi Xiaoyun from outside the room, "Director Hao, the Dean is looking for you!"

Hearing this, Hao Yun didn't wait for Wang Chuan's answer, hurried out the door, stopped at the doorway, turned back, and said, "Young man, you are lucky; in the Emergency Department, you can shine your light and heat."

A moment later, Li Wei helped Xiao Rongyue out.

Wang Chuan was also preparing to sneak away when Qi Xiaoyun entered. "Doctor Ye, you go out; there is a patient to handle outside. I have something to say to Intern Wang Chuan."

The morning sunlight pierced through the window, landing exactly on the silver-rimmed glasses.

The reflection on the lenses made Wang Chuan's vision slightly hazy, and he tilted his head slightly.

Qi Xiaoyun, twenty-five years old this year, adjusted her silver-rimmed glasses; her black straight hair was tied into a low ponytail, with a few stray strands brushing past her ears, exuding a capable aura.

A silver stethoscope hung around her neck, and her hands were casually placed in her pockets.

Beautiful eyes beneath the lenses.

A gaze like a sword.

A tone that was not gentle at all, "I have called the Medical Affairs Section; our Hospital and Jiangcheng University School of Medicine have not signed an internship teaching agreement."

"What explanation do you have?"

"Intentionally coming to cause me to be punished by the Hospital."

"To be fired by the Hospital!"

"To have my medical license revoked by the Health Bureau!"

Each sentence more serious than the last, like a machine gun, tut-tut-tutting, wanting to shoot Wang Chuan into a wasp nest.

Wang Chuan wanted to open his mouth to say sorry, but was blocked back by a single sentence.

"You won't fare well either; reported to your Medical School, you won't even get your Graduation Certificate."

Qi Xiaoyun walked in front of Wang Chuan, straightened his White Coat, and a figure slowly overlapped with Wang Chuan's body.

After a while, she said coldly, "I don't want to hear explanations; I only look at results. This time is let off, you leave immediately."

Wang Chuan thought his ears had misheard, stood stunned for a moment, then moved his feet.

"Wang Chuan, do not waste your talent; treat a few more patients." Behind him, Qi Xiaoyun said in a gentle tone.

"Take off this White Coat." Her tone returned to its previous cold hardness, "Leave the Hospital. Now, immediately."

Wang Chuan hesitated not at all; he skillfully took off the White Coat symbolizing the identity of a Doctor and gently placed it on the nearby treatment table.

"Doctor Qi..." His throat tightened; he wanted to say something, gratitude or apology, but it all seemed pale and powerless.

He turned back, took a deep look at Qi Xiaoyun's proud and beautiful back, then turned and walked quickly out of the Debridement Room.

At the doorway, Xiao Rongyue was being clumsily fitted with a new pair of cheap plastic slippers on his feet by Li Wei.

"Stop talking nonsense, let's go first!" Wang Chuan grabbed Xiao Rongyue's other arm and, together with Li Wei, quickly supported him out of the Emergency Hall.

Passing the Nurse Station, Nurse Lou cast a curious glance; Wang Chuan's face was expressionless, but his heartbeat accelerated slightly.

The figures of the three had just disappeared around the corner of the Emergency exit.

Almost simultaneously, Wang Chuan silently commanded the Golden Finger to open, and the light screen in front of him automatically popped open.

【Virtual Operation Training】: 'Basic surgical operations are divided into: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Peak, Perfect'.

The detailed function menu below unfolded:

【Medication Change Technique】: 【Intermediate Level】

【Incision】: 【Intermediate Level】

【Exposure and Separation】: 【Intermediate Level】

【Suturing】: 【Intermediate Level】

【Hemostasis】: 【Intermediate Level】

【Knot Tying】: 【Intermediate Level】

【Drainage】: 【Beginner Level】

【Puncture】: 【Beginner Level】

Wang Chuan looked at the rank levels: Intermediate level roughly corresponded to Attending Physician, Advanced to Deputy Chief Physician; what about Peak—Expert or Chief Physician?

What is perfection? Is it the theoretical limit of human ability?

Wang Chuan graduated from Jiangcheng University School of Medicine and gained many hands-on opportunities at Xinzhou People's Hospital. Practice made perfect; combined with his past-life medical talent, he reached Attending Physician level during his two-year Rotation at the hospital.

Wang Chuan was heavily relied upon—not only because of his skill, but also because graduates from Jiangcheng University School of Medicine were rare in Xinzhou.

Xinzhou's GDP was only one-seventh of Mingzhou's, so medical school graduates generally preferred to work in economically developed regions.

Economic development meant higher salaries at hospitals in those areas.

Wang Chuan continued reading:

【You have completed one Debridement and Suturing. In the Virtual Space, you may choose one of the following: Medication Change Technique, Exposure and Separation, Suturing, Hemostasis, Knot Tying, Drainage, or Puncture, for simulated training lasting six hours in Virtual Space—equivalent to one hour in real life.】

Xiao Rongyue now remembered and expressed her gratitude to Wang Chuan.

"Wang Chuan, thank you—thanks for your Suturing."

Ding—a sound. Peak Medical Technique Experience Activation progress: Patient gratitude received, cumulative 4/100.

Wang Chuan thought: When I have free time later, I'll practice Suturing first. Suturing is profound—if I do fifty sutures in Emergency in one day, I'll hit 100 and activate Peak Medical Technique Experience.

Moreover, completing one Peak Medical Technique Experience grants a reward.
