Chapter 33: Half-Day Boyfriend

~8 min read 1,507 words

After arriving at Mingzhou University, Wang Chuan shook Lin Weiwei awake; she had been sleeping on his shoulder.

Lin Weiwei opened her eyes and asked groggily, "Wang Chuan, why did I come here?"

"To stroll around the university."

After paying, Wang Chuan pulled Lin Weiwei out of the car and headed straight for the main gate of Mingzhou University.

All the way, Wang Chuan wondered in his heart: What medicine did Lin Weiwei take wrong today? Does she like playing with contrasts?

What did that angry remark back at the hotel, "I said I didn't want to go," actually mean?

Could Lin Weiwei really be the type of girl who loves reading Wanli Fifteen?

Did her backer make a request, she became very dissatisfied, so she dragged him along to experience a university romance and relieve her mood?

Take one step, see one step.

Wang Chuan pulled Lin Weiwei through the gate of Mingzhou University; the first thing he saw was the uniquely styled landmark building—Nantian Gate, standing tall and majestic amidst the cluster of teaching buildings.

Along the broad stone steps, many students stopped to gaze at Lin Weiwei, whispering among themselves.

Wang Chuan felt they were probably discussing the two of them, him and Lin Weiwei.

Lin Weiwei's smile remained fixed on her face.

The two walked together past the teaching buildings and arrived at the basketball court, watching basketball for a while.

Someone easily faked out a defender and sank a three-pointer; Lin Weiwei let out an excited scream.

On the court, the defender who had been broken through looked frustrated and angry, then turned his head and swept his gaze over Lin Weiwei's face.

Putting aside his anger, he walked over to Lin Weiwei with a smile and said, "Beauty, my name is He Jun. Could you let your boyfriend come up and play a round, have a match?"

He had seen Wang Chuan and Lin Weiwei's palms pressed tightly together and wanted to make this stranger lose face in front of his girlfriend.

After all, He Jun knew everyone at the school who played basketball well; this person in front of him was unknown, only about 1.82 meters tall, and wearing a shirt, so he must be a rookie.

Lin Weiwei asked, "Wang Chuan, do you want to go play for a while?"

In Wang Chuan's heart, a domineering aura rose up.

Fortunately, he hadn't taken Lin Weiwei to the soccer field earlier; if someone had challenged them to a soccer match, it would have been a disaster.

In his freshman year, Wang Chuan, who had the slogan of revitalizing soccer on his lips, chose a soccer elective, only to discover he had absolutely no talent; he couldn't juggle the ball ten times.

Later, he discovered basketball suited him better; he became not only the captain of the Clinical Medicine department team but also a main player on the Medical School basketball team, with particularly accurate three-point shots.

"Great! Wang Chuan, from the Medical School." Wang Chuan took off his shirt, revealing the arms he used for playing basketball often.

He Jun took one look and felt something was wrong; damn, could he be a main player from Mingzhou Medical School?

Once on the court, he not only made dashing breakthroughs but also continuously sank three-pointers.

On the sidelines, Lin Weiwei's shouts never stopped.

Finally, the game ended. After coming off the court, against all expectations, He Jun did not look dejected; instead, he walked over to Lin Weiwei with a smile and said, "Your boyfriend is amazing!"

Just like when a girl in university is dating and someone praises her boyfriend, Lin Weiwei's eyebrows danced with joy, gaining immense emotional value.

He Jun even exchanged mobile phone numbers with Wang Chuan and agreed to play basketball together next time they were free.

The campus was extremely large; the two wandered around, unfamiliar with the roads, and ended up back by the soccer field. Wang Chuan hurriedly said, "Let's go sit under the trees over there. I'll go buy some drinks. What do you want to drink?"

"Iced water."

"You can drink iced water?" Wang Chuan asked in confusion.

Lin Weiwei knew what Wang Chuan meant; she rolled her eyes and said, "It's scorching hot. Go quickly."

After drinking a glass of iced water, Lin Weiwei felt much more comfortable. "Wang Chuan, can you play soccer?"

Wang Chuan waved his hand: "I watch games, but I don't play. The National Football Team is already great; they qualified for the 2002 World Cup, so they don't need me."

Lin Weiwei said, "Watching is fine too. My dad is a football fan; I watched many matches with him when I was little. So I am a soccer fan. As for basketball, I just watch it blindly too."

Wang Chuan couldn't bear to tell Lin Weiwei that on November 17 this year, the National Football Team, due to having one fewer goal difference, failed to advance to the Asian zone quarterfinals and said goodbye to the 2006 World Cup.

Furthermore, the National Football Team would miss the World Cup for six consecutive editions from 2006 to 2026.

Wang Chuan changed the subject: "By the way, the European Cup is starting soon; you'll be watching, right?"

"My bar in Mingzhou opens on June 12; can you come and support us?"

Lin Weiwei showed an expectant look in her eyes.

"I don't know right now; whether I have to work the night shift that day. If I don't have to work the night shift, I'll come."

Lin Weiwei held out her hand: "Pinky promise!"

"Pinky promise!"

Wang Chuan thought to himself: Lin Weiwei, could it be that you are missing a university romance and came today to make up for the regret?

"Sister..."

"Call me Lin Weiwei from now on. If you say the wrong thing, I'll beat and scold you."

Lin Weiwei's mature female voice struck Wang Chuan's eardrums, making Wang Chuan lose his composure; he felt a little person inside his heart saying, "Sister, scold me, hit me quickly!"

"Damn, the Lick Dog genes from my past life are still in my body."

"Lin Weiwei, let's go back now. I sweated all over playing basketball; I smell terrible, absolutely terrible."

Wang Chuan checked the time; it was 3:30 in the afternoon.

Lin Weiwei, standing beside him, rose to her feet, bent down to face him; a few strands of her beautiful hair brushed against his cheek, giving him a tingling sensation.

An exquisitely beautiful face slowly drew near; her high nose trembled slightly, and then he heard a gentle voice.

"It doesn't smell bad at all~~"

"My boyfriend doesn't smell bad at all~~"

With such a passionate gaze, no one could resist it.

At that moment, Wang Chuan forgot he was a Reborn Person, forgot he was a Half-Day Boyfriend; he stood up, extended both arms, and embraced Lin Weiwei. "Does it smell bad now!"

"Not bad at all~~" Lin Weiwei's small pink fist lightly tapped Wang Chuan's broad back.

Wang Chuan felt softness and elasticity.

The two left the school gate and took a taxi back to the hotel. Halfway there, Lin Weiwei suddenly shouted, "I forgot, we need to register at the Driving School."

"Driver, please take us to Nanshui Driving School."

This Driving School was located south of Mingzhou, near the National Highway, in a desolate area. "Lin Weiwei, you stay in the car and enjoy the air conditioning. I'll go register."

Wang Chuan went in and asked; the sedan license training cost three thousand yuan.

Unexpectedly, it was so expensive. In his past life, he had learned to drive in 2008; back then the price was also over three thousand, plus a few hundred yuan red envelope for the instructor.

He explained to the Driving School staff that he already knew how to drive and did not need so much training time.

The result was that the three thousand yuan would not be reduced by a single cent. Wang Chuan hesitated for a moment; he only had four thousand on hand. Spending three thousand on driving lessons would leave him with one thousand. He decided against it; learning to drive wasn't too urgent anyway, since he could actually drive.

Wang Chuan returned to the taxi and said, "The instructor's schedule is full for the next month. Let's talk next month."

Lin Weiwei glanced over, understood what had happened, and said, "Wang Chuan, wait!"

After speaking, Lin Weiwei got out of the car. A moment later, she, who had just walked out of the Driving School gate, called out to him eagerly, "Wang Chuan, I've registered for you!"

"I don't have that much cash on me. I only paid two thousand. Later, give me your bank account number, and I'll transfer you another one thousand. Then come back again and pay the full tuition."

Lin Weiwei waved, a smile on the corners of her lips. The scorching summer sun stretched Lin Weiwei's shadow long and long, quietly slipping into Wang Chuan's heart.
