Chapter 349: You Can Really Get Creative With Suicide
There was an unwritten rule in the interrogation room: anyone who cooperated honestly could receive certain privileges.
The most common of these was smoking.
So the fact that Wang Hao was allowed to smoke inside proved he had already begun to talk.
Soon, a written statement was placed in Yu Dazhang's hands.
Its contents were exactly what Wang Hao had just confessed.
After the basic information had been covered, this Wang Hao had also struggled for over ten minutes... Yu Dazhang read from the beginning.
It was only when the officer handling the interrogation read out the report filed against him by those three "legs" that Wang Hao finally gave up resisting.
"That was quick enough." Yu Dazhang muttered to himself as he read the statement.
He had assumed Wang Hao's mental fortitude should be stronger than those three "legs."
Those three men had held out for over an hour, yet he had confessed in barely ten minutes, and without a hint of hesitation.
Yu Dazhang quickly flipped through the later pages and found that, so far, Wang Hao hadn't given up anything of substance.
He described how he had originally recruited his middle-school classmate in, and he also explained the specific method of payment.
Next came the early development in the Yancheng industrial district.
In over ten minutes, that was all he had said—nothing else.
This made Yu Dazhang frown involuntarily.
Those three "legs" had already confessed all of this.
Wang Hao surely knew that as well.
So...
He wasn't confessing.
He was stalling for time!
Yu Dazhang stared at Wang Hao on the surveillance monitor, carefully observing the changes in his facial expression and eyes.
Something was off—he was far too composed.
As mentioned before, the layout of the interrogation room was designed from a psychological standpoint.
When a person is in that kind of environment, they can't help but feel nervous; but Wang Hao showed not a trace of tension—on the contrary, he looked completely at ease.
Where did that confidence come from?
Wait~
He was grinding his teeth!
Yu Dazhang suddenly noticed the muscles on Wang Hao's cheeks flickering in and out, as if he were chewing gum.
Though the grinding motion was very slight, the changes in his facial muscles were extremely obvious.
Since the camera was angled from an oblique side, it happened to capture Wang Hao's profile, and Yu Dazhang could actually see it more clearly than the officer sitting directly across from him.
He then looked at another surveillance feed, which showed Wang Hao's other cheek.
"There's no grinding motion on this side."
As Yu Dazhang muttered to himself, a sudden sense of foreboding rose in his heart.
Grinding only on one side—could it be...
A tooth used to hide poison?
Could something that ridiculous still happen these days?
Even if there was only the slightest possibility, it had to be prevented... Yu Dazhang immediately picked up the microphone on the desk and barked an order:
"Restrain the suspect immediately—don't let him grind his teeth any longer!"
After saying that, he stood up at once and strode toward the interrogation room.
When he arrived, Wang Hao was already being held by the head by two officers, his face turned upward.
His eyes were tightly shut, as if he were desperately resisting something.
These two provincial bureau officers were clearly very experienced, and their coordination was impressively seamless.
One of them was gripping Wang Hao's cheekbone while the other pinched his jaw; together, the two moves forced his mouth open and kept it from closing.
After stepping closer, Yu Dazhang took out his phone, switched on the flashlight, and shone it into Wang Hao's mouth.
Hmm?
He had assumed Wang Hao was using the gap between his teeth to hide the poison, loosening it through grinding when he needed to use it.
That was just his imagination—after all, he had never encountered such a thing before.
But when he actually saw the situation, he realized he had been far too naive.
There was no gap between the teeth at all.
Deep inside Wang Hao's mouth, one molar clearly protruded higher than the rest.
By now, the top of that molar had been ground down to the point of cracking, and a layer of yellow plastic wrap could faintly be seen peeking out.
Good thing it hadn't been ground through... Yu Dazhang couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
If that plastic wrap had cyanide wrapped inside, just a few grams would be enough to kill.
By then, there would have been no time for emergency treatment at all.
"Hold him—absolutely do not let him close his mouth."
After giving the instruction, Yu Dazhang turned and left the interrogation room; when he returned, there was an extra towel in his hand.
"Originally I was going to improvise and stuff a sock in your mouth."
He said as he pushed the towel into Wang Hao's mouth:
"You should be thankful I'm not the type who enjoys sick jokes."
As if you're not into sick jokes... both officers couldn't help but glance at him.
Since you could think of stuffing socks, your intentions are already exposed — and you even said it out loud to explain.
Besides, this towel clearly isn't new; who knows where this fatty dug it up.
If it's a communal hand-wiping towel, then stuffing socks would be the better option.
"Alright, let him go."
After stuffing the towel in, Yu Dazhang clapped his hands and ordered:
"Open the partition, put the handcuffs on him, and escort him into the police car."
Every profession has its specialty.
To extract a foreign object from a tooth, a doctor is obviously more professional.
Moreover, right now no one is even sure what Wang Hao hid inside his tooth.
If it really is poison, and the plastic paper accidentally tears, no one could bear that responsibility.
Half an hour later, the dentist extracted the foreign object from Wang Hao's tooth, along with the entire tooth itself.
It was an implant tooth, screwed on temporarily.
The material was a plastic-like synthetic, with no chewing ability, but it was good for disguise.
"This job doesn't look like a dentist's work." The doctor picked up the fake tooth with forceps, examining it closely:
"I've never seen this kind of implant before either; it probably isn't standard material."
Then he looked again at the yellow plastic paper inside the tooth:
"What's inside this?"
Seeing him about to use tweezers to extract it, Yu Dazhang quickly said:
"We suspect there's cyanide inside."
The moment he heard the word "cyanide," the doctor's hand suddenly froze mid-air, a hint of panic and unease flashing through his eyes.
Then again, he was a professional — even a dentist knew what cyanide meant.
The doctor's expression turned heavy and solemn as he asked in a low voice:
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
"I was afraid that if I told you, your hand wouldn't be steady." Yu Dazhang tossed off an explanation.
In truth, he himself didn't know what was wrapped inside the plastic paper.
So far it was all guesswork; the follow-up would have to be handed to the technical division for identification.
Back at the municipal bureau, Wang Hao looked utterly listless, as if his soul had been drained from him, his eyes losing all focus.
Now that's more like it… Seeing him like this, Yu Dazhang was actually quite reassured.
In the interrogation room.
"You can even turn suicide into an art — you're quite a talent."
This time Yu Dazhang sat across from him, joking with a smile:
"Since you'd already decided to die, why didn't you just take the poison right there in the car?"
Hearing this, Wang Hao shook his head helplessly:
"Who would really want to die? Until the very last moment, I wouldn't be willing to die."
"Once I found out those three had all confessed and even spilled everything we'd done, I knew I had to die — otherwise there'd be no chance."
Yu Dazhang was momentarily stunned by this.
No chance — that he could understand; after all, once the other side showed signs of suicidal intent, they'd certainly keep him under strict watch from then on.
They wouldn't even let him get near any sharp objects.
But why did he have to die?
