Chapter 563: You go first, I

~4 min read 624 words

That's even less likely.

Never mind that Qu Tuotuo isn't short on money—just her backing from Yisheng Group is enough to deter anyone from touching her.

Must be another dream. Go back to sleep.

But why is this dream all about her getting into trouble?

And it's always Mom telling me.

It's like Mom is right beside me, calling me to wake up.

This dream is too logically coherent—it feels completely natural, with not a single flaw.

No!

This isn't a dream!

Yu Dazhang suddenly woke up, looking around in confusion, and found himself lying in bed at home—Mom wasn't beside him.

He let out a long breath.

That dream was surprisingly real.

It's already light outside.

Yu Dazhang glanced at the wall clock.

10:20 a. m.

If I remember right, I got home yesterday at around 4 p. m.

That means I slept for seventeen hours.

Feeling refreshed… Yu Dazhang got up, stretched, went to the bathroom, washed his face and brushed his teeth, then returned to the room and picked up his phone.

No missed calls?

When he checked his call log, he saw two answered calls—both from Qu Tuotuo.

Who answered?

He looked at the call times: one came in at 8:10 a. m., the other at 8:21 a. m.

Two calls in half an hour?

He suddenly remembered the dream he'd had.

Mom must've answered the phone and tried to wake me up.

Shit, something really happened.

Yu Dazhang immediately called back.

Turned off?

It's broad daylight—why turn it off?

He remembered Qu Tuotuo's phone was always on 24/7; in his memory, she'd never been unreachable before.

Just as he was about to call Mom, he heard the sound of the door opening.

The front door swung open, and Li Xuehe rushed in; seeing Yu Dazhang awake, her face lit up:

"You're finally awake," she said, walking up to him:

"If you hadn't woken up, I was going to call 120."

Seeing Mom's tired, dusty appearance, Yu Dazhang frowned and asked:

"What happened? Qu Tuotuo called me twice—both times you answered?"

In this house, the only one who could answer his calls was Mom—he couldn't think of anyone else.

His father, Yu Guangyuan, left for work before 7 a. m. every day; only he and Li Xuehe were left at home.

"Yes, Tuotuo got into trouble."

Li Xuehe didn't even take off her shoes—she sat down right on the living room sofa, took two deep breaths to steady herself, then continued:

"She called the first time to tell you she saw an old lady collapse on the street during her commute, so she called an ambulance and went with her to the hospital."

"But once they got to the hospital, the old lady suddenly changed her story and claimed Tuotuo hit her."

Li Xuehe grew angrier as she spoke, her voice rising involuntarily:

"I rushed right over to wake you up after the call, but I couldn't rouse you—you were like a dead pig, lying there without moving a muscle."

Who talks about their own son like that… Yu Dazhang knew Mom was truly panicked.

But he'd been in deep sleep at the time—being unresponsive was normal; forty hours without sleep, anyone would struggle to wake up.

Besides, he was sleeping at home, in a familiar environment, where people are most relaxed and least alert.

"What about the second call?" Yu Dazhang asked.

The fact that she called again eleven minutes later meant Qu Tuotuo had run into something even more serious.

Otherwise, given her personality, she'd never easily ask for help.

"She wanted to ask you whether to call the police."

Li Xuehe replied:

"The old lady called her family—she's afraid things will get messy, and she doesn't want to make a big fuss."
