Chapter 57: Alcohol-Fueled Spoilers

~7 min read 1,287 words

Yu Dazhang had reached his limit; if he stopped now, his alcohol tolerance was just right, but if he drank more…

Definitely more!

Alcohol, once it takes hold, rarely lets anyone control themselves.

Because you simply don’t realize when you’ve had too much.

Especially when a beautiful woman sits across from you, drinking with you.

The words Yu Dazhang had spoken earlier were completely unthought-out—just blurted out in the flow of conversation.

After hearing them, Qu Tuotuo asked curiously:

“You also study finance?”

“No.” Yu Dazhang sat back down in his chair and waved his hand:

“I know nothing about it.”

Qu Tuotuo grew even more curious and pressed:

“Then how do you know the bull market is coming?”

Zha beer has one trait: it hits you fast.

Add to that Qu Tuotuo’s intense interest in his earlier words, and it activated Yu Dazhang’s passive skill.

What do people love to do most after drinking?

Answer: They love to act as teachers.

A ready-made question sat before him, and a radiant beauty stared at him expectantly across the table.

Yu Dazhang completely lost himself.

“Remember, news will soon come out about lowering interest rates and reserve requirement ratios—that’s the signal the bull market has begun.”

“You must build your position before that news breaks, because leveraged capital will flood in afterward.”

“Combined with investors’ optimism and media hype, it will instantly trigger a herd effect.”

“Finally, countless retail investors will rush in—by then, it’ll probably be April next year, and you’ll need to close your position and exit.”

Qu Tuotuo was utterly captivated by those few sentences.

If what he said was true, this was a textbook stock market legend!

Who dares claim they can predict the movement of the A-share market?

The hardest market in the world to predict? The A-share market—without question.

Even old man Buffett got tripped up in it, nearly suffering a heart attack.

Yet here, in this ordinary barbecue joint,

this self-proclaimed financial ignoramus, this fat man across from her, had just painted a crystal-clear picture of the A-share market’s future with just a few words.

This is not knowing finance?

Interest rates, leverage, herd effect…

Are these words a person who doesn’t know finance could possibly say?

He even explained exactly when to build a position—and why.

He even gave the exact time and reason to close the position.

It didn’t sound like nonsense at all.

The more Qu Tuotuo thought, the more confused she became, until she finally blurted out:

“You said you don’t know finance—so how do you know all that? Don’t tell me you just guessed.”

Yu Dazhang’s eyelids were drooping.

He first turned to ask the server to bring more beer, then looked at Qu Tuotuo:

“Earlier, the economic crime unit conducted a raid—I went to assist.”

“The suspect was a stock trading expert, but he used public funds to trade—and got caught.”

“By the time he was arrested, he’d already made more money than he could spend in a lifetime, yet still hadn’t filled the hole in the public funds.”

“His greed and desire were endless—he kept muttering about future market trends even in the car.”

“Guess what? He was right on every point—he really was a master.”

Yu Dazhang had no idea these events hadn’t happened in this lifetime.

Or rather, in this lifetime, the embezzlement case hadn’t occurred yet, and the stock expert hadn’t been caught.

He’d just spoiled the future~

With just this much alcohol, he’d even broken his habit of never discussing cases after work.

Qu Tuotuo had drunk plenty too, but her mind was still clear.

Yet she sensed a logical flaw in Yu Dazhang’s words and countered:

“If the bull market hasn’t started yet, how did he make the money? If it was the last bull market, you clearly mentioned 2015—that doesn’t add up.”

“I hate it when people question me.” At this point, Yu Dazhang gave up thinking entirely and replied bluntly:

“Believe it or not.”

Qu Tuotuo saw his state and knew he was drunk—he was now acting like a fool. “Is that all your alcohol tolerance?” she asked with a smile.

The sight of this fat man right now was just too amusing—clumsy, yet with a touch of sleaze.

His gaze had turned fixed and staring.

“Alcohol tolerance? Ha, don’t ask me about that—point to the ocean.” Yu Dazhang puffed out his belly, trying to prove how much he could drink.

“Alright, alright.” Qu Tuotuo didn’t argue; instead, she smiled and said:

“Since you’re not drunk, let me ask you something.”

“Go ahead.” Yu Dazhang slapped his chest, radiating bravado.

“My Chinese driver’s license is almost ready,” Qu Tuotuo asked seriously: “I want to give my instructor a banner—what should I write on it?”

Without hesitation, Yu Dazhang replied:

“Guofu Sun Ce.”

“What? What’s Sun Ce?” Qu Tuotuo heard the words clearly but didn’t understand.

Please... collect... 6...9...books...!

“Guofu! Don’t you understand, Guofu? Fine, you’ll get it in a few years.” Yu Dazhang, unwilling to explain, confidently declared:

“Just write it exactly as I said—I guarantee that in ten years, this banner will still be the most dazzling one in the entire driving school.”

“Really?” Qu Tuotuo was skeptical.

“Relax.” Yu Dazhang patted his chest in assurance:

“Trust me.”

Qu Tuotuo knew he was drunk.

Logically, she should have urged him not to drink and helped him get home while he was still somewhat coherent.

But for some reason, she just wanted to stay with him a little longer.

Seeing Yu Dazhang take another sip of zha beer, Qu Tuotuo paused, then asked:

“Why do robbery and kidnapping always involve men? Why is it so rare to see men and women doing them together?”

This was pure small talk.

She asked because the kidnapping she’d experienced had left a deep impression.

And she enjoyed how seriously Yu Dazhang answered her questions.

“Robbery and kidnapping are violent crimes—how could you possibly bring a woman along? There’s a saying you’ve probably heard…”

Yu Dazhang’s eyes were reduced to slits; as he spoke, he burped.

Seeing him pause, Qu Tuotuo asked curiously:

“What saying?”

“Robbery with a bitch? You’re lucky if you don’t get life.” Yu Dazhang answered with perfect smoothness.

Shit, this place is no longer safe… Qu Tuotuo noticed everyone around them casting strange glances.

She awkwardly tugged at her lips, called the owner over to settle the bill, then pulled Yu Dazhang quickly out of the barbecue joint.

“Yue~”

Outside, the wind hit him—he staggered to a roadside tree and vomited violently.

Dammit, you absolutely cannot pass out now… Qu Tuotuo stood beside him, patting his back while praying.

The next morning.

Li Xuehe had prepared breakfast and hesitated whether to wake Yu Dazhang.

Last night, her son had come home utterly drunk, carried by a girl so beautiful she looked unreal.

The girl’s appearance and demeanor were clearly from a wealthy family.

She must be the “not quite a friend” her son had mentioned before.

The girl had been polite, even helping carry her son to bed.

If it hadn’t been so late, Li Xuehe would have liked to chat with her properly.

Just as she was thinking this, sounds came from her son’s room—he’d woken up.

But after a minute passed, he still didn’t come out.

Just as she was about to go check on him, a sharp “slap” rang out from inside.

Li Xuehe froze.

That sound… it sounded exactly like a slap across the face.

Immediately after, “Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap!” came five more consecutive cracks.

Then Yu Dazhang’s anguished voice rang out:

“I’ve said everything I should and shouldn’t have! Aaaahhhhhhh! I can’t live anymore! Let me die!!”
