Chapter 592: The Disc My Son Sent

~4 min read 683 words

It wasn't actually that exaggerated.

Yu Dazhang was able to deduce that the person was hidden in the town based on the existing evidence and clues.

If he hadn't found the identity information of these five people, he wouldn't have thought of this layer.

Besides, right now no one can be certain that the hostage is definitely in the town; just as Yu Dazhang himself said, he was only suspicious.

"Captain Wei, later you'll need to give our officers some reminders."

Yu Dazhang said with a solemn expression:

"You must pay attention to concealment. When everyone is doing the sweep, don't reveal your identities. Once you alert the enemy, the other side will very likely move the hostage."

"Even if you find the hostage's location, don't act rashly."

His tone grew heavier:

"If the other side is driven to desperation, the hostage is very likely to be in mortal danger."

There's one more night left; the kidnappers right now are also in a state of taut nerves, and any little disturbance will trigger a stress response from them.

"Understood."

Wei Qian replied, then stepped down from the off-road vehicle, got into the driver's seat of another car, and sped off.

At this moment, it no longer mattered who was the leader and who was the subordinate; what mattered was who could find the kidnappers and rescue the hostage.

"Master, I'm going back to rest."

Yu Dazhang said, gazing toward the town:

"The kidnappers won't set the ransom drop location here tomorrow, so the main battlefield tomorrow is still in the city. I need to go back and get enough rest."

Earlier, their four-person team had decided to find an inn in the town to rest.

After all, most of the bureau's officers had already come to support them; their team couldn't very well run back to the city.

But the disciple wasn't wrong either—if they relied solely on sweeping to rescue the hostage, the odds were too low.

Rather than that, it was better to get enough rest to handle tomorrow's operation.

"You go back and rest."

Lu Zhongxin knew clearly in his heart that the big picture still had to rely on his disciple:

"I'll keep watch here. If we find anything, I'll call you."

Yu Dazhang nodded, then reminded him:

"Don't forget to tell Captain Wei—no all-night sweeps. The latest they can go is eleven at night. The enemy is hidden, we're exposed; we have to be careful."

If it really got to the dead of night, no matter how careful they were, being discovered would be hard to avoid.

Perhaps the other side was just waiting to conduct their observation at night.

The next morning, after the master and disciple discussed it, each took one team member and went separately to the hostage's home.

When Yu Dazhang arrived at the Bai residence, it was already half past eight in the morning.

He knocked lightly on the door. It was quickly opened, and greeting him were Bai Jincheng's parents, who had long been waiting at home for the police to arrive.

Stepping into the living room, Yu Dazhang carefully studied the couple.

Their mental state was clearly poor—faces haggard, heavy dark circles under their eyes—obviously from staying up the previous night.

"Did the other side contact you yesterday?" Yu Dazhang asked.

"No," Bai Jincheng's father replied:

"Since that one extortion call, the kidnappers haven't called again."

A little hungry… Yu Dazhang hadn't even eaten breakfast before hurrying out the door.

He glanced at the table in the living room; it was empty save for a vase of flowers.

They didn't even bother to arrange some breakfast.

Yu Dazhang grumbled to himself, then shifted his gaze toward the dining room.

No breakfast in sight, but on the dining table he saw four black handbags, each stuffed full.

"Is that the cash you've prepared?" he asked, pointing toward the dining room.

"Yes," Bai Jincheng's father nodded:

"Your colleagues came by yesterday. Each bag has a micro tracker placed inside."

Ten million split into four bags… Yu Dazhang did the math in his head.
