Chapter 430

~5 min read 893 words

Such a weak monster could be knocked flying with one punch by Luo En; the reason it took so long was simply to see whether Shan Chui could handle it.

Ever since he arrived, Luo En had been observing him.

Though his strength was too weak, his speed was fast—he dodged each of the monster's lunges with ease.

He indeed showed promising potential, so Luo En wasn't some rigid, inflexible person.

Having someone to assist him, to follow his orders, wasn't out of the question.

But Luo En wasn't someone anyone could just claim as their own, so these small tests were necessary.

"Master, has the monster been eliminated?"

Shan Chui hurried to Luo En's side and asked him.

"Can you still see it? Hmm? Gone? Not eliminated!"

Luo En was questioned—he could have punched that monster clear to the moon; if it survived that, it must've had an unusually tough life.

"Hey, you brat, when did he become your master? Don't go randomly calling people master!"

Hearing Shan Chui call Luo En "master," and seeing Luo En not even deny it, made her deeply unhappy—she felt as if Luo En had been stolen away.

Shan Chui, however, was quite sensible—he didn't care whether Chuixue was jealous; he only wanted to become a disciple.

But Luo En still said nothing—he neither refused nor accepted.

Shan Chui thought for a moment, deciding to appeal to emotion—he didn't believe Luo En could be so heartless.

"Master, please take me in! I'm alone now, I don't know what to do, I have nowhere to stay here—if you don't take me, I'll have to sleep on the streets!"

Shan Chui followed Luo En, pleading.

Luo En looked at him—he knew it was half-true, half-performed, but he could tell the boy genuinely wanted to learn.

"Whether to take you in—I'll think about it. If you have nowhere to stay, you can stay here for now."

Though Luo En hadn't accepted him as a disciple, he had agreed to let him stay.

"Chuixue, take him to see the place later—let him stay in the room on the west side, next to yours!" Luo En raised an eyebrow at Chuixue.

"Me?? I I I..." Chuixue hadn't even finished speaking.

Seeing Chuixue's reluctant expression, Luo En quickly pulled her aside.

"Think about it—he'll be your errand boy from now on! That's convenient for you, isn't it? My disciple isn't your disciple too?"

Luo En smoothly persuaded Chuixue.

Hearing this, Chuixue realized it made perfect sense—now she'd have someone to play with, and she wouldn't be the weakest among them anymore!

Slowly, her reluctant expression transformed into a mischievous grin.

"Ahahaha, come on, come on—I'll show you where you'll sleep!"

Now she no longer looked reluctant; she grinned and pulled Shan Chui toward her room.

Since this was a large courtyard-style compound, all the rooms were connected.

But Luo En's room was on the other side—quiet, few people, so he disliked being disturbed.

That was precisely why he'd placed Shan Chui next to Chuixue.

"There—that's your room. From now on, your big sister will be right next door—call me if you need anything!"

Chuixue pointed proudly at herself.

Shan Chui merely nodded, then pushed open the door and stepped inside.

The moment the door opened, a cloud of dust poured down.

Chuixue was still standing at the doorway—she was directly hit by the entire cloud of dust.

"Pah!"

She quickly waved her hands, trying to sweep away as much dust as possible.

"How long has no one lived here? So dirty—you clean it up yourself, I'm leaving!"

Seeing the room's filth and disorder, Chuixue didn't want to stay another second in the dust—she turned and immediately tried to leave.

"Hey, sister, don't go!"

Shan Chui helplessly grabbed her hand.

"Look how pitiful I am—cleaning this alone, organizing everything—I don't even know where to start! Sister, help me! I'll repay you someday!"

Chuixue would never have stayed to help—but hearing his final promise to repay her, she hesitated.

She thought: helping him once wouldn't hurt—maybe someday I'll need his help with something important!

"Repay me? How?"

"I'll work like a beast for you, run errands, protect you! Most importantly, once I become your master's disciple, I'll tell him how great you are!"

Shan Chui's tongue was sweet—though Chuixue had been the most opposed to his arrival, she admitted it was only because he'd taken Luo En away.

Thus, Shan Chui successfully won Chuixue's sympathy—she obediently helped him. Chuixue was sharp-tongued, but not truly hateful—just a little spoiled pride.

She quickly guided Shan Chui in cleaning, and soon the room looked perfectly livable.

......... Luo En stood alone, lost in thought.

Longjuan walked over.

"Are you really going to take that guy as your disciple?"

Luo En glanced over.

"What? Do you want to take him?" Luo En joked. He thought teaching others was fine—more people meant advantages; if any monster showed up, strength in numbers would help.

"I won't take him—I'm already this strong; having someone around would just drag me down!"

Longjuan, like Chuixue, was arrogantly proud.

With this unexpected guest, the place had clearly become livelier.

Every day, Luo En could hear Chuixue and Shan Chui arguing.

Their voices had already crossed the courtyard wall and reached Luo En's side.

That day was when they had agreed to go for a picnic.
