Chapter 583
"But I wasn't inside the cursed body just now—I seemed to have arrived somewhere else."
"It was a pitch-black deep hole, nothing but those tentacles."
Taiyiro nodded and said.
"That's right—if you were inside the cursed body."
"I might not have been able to save you."
"But just now, I sensed your aura right before me."
"Though that aura was extremely faint, I still caught it."
"So I slashed at the air—I didn't know if it would work."
"Now it seems I won the bet."
Luo En said with a hint of helplessness.
"That curse is extremely powerful."
"To this day, we still haven't found a way to truly eliminate it."
Taiyiro nodded.
"Yes, just surviving is already a stroke of luck."
"Let's leave here quickly, or he might strike us again."
"Because our current strength is no match for him."
Luo En was deeply frustrated, but he knew that even if he gave his all, he couldn't harm the curse.
"But can we just leave it be? Who knows how many more lives this curse will take."
Luo En clenched his fist, gazing toward that direction—he could sense a faint scent of curse there.
Presumably, the curse had already arrived before them, ready to strike at any moment.
Yet strangely, everything around them remained eerily calm.
Just then, Luo En felt the curse's aura growing denser.
He said, "We must leave here now."
Taiyiro nodded; the two were about to move forward.
Suddenly, they felt their feet give way—as if the entire ground had collapsed beneath them.
In an instant, the scenery before them shifted rapidly, then plunged into darkness.
Taiyiro said.
"Bad— we've fallen for his trick again."
As he spoke, Luo En saw a flash of blade-light—clearly, Taiyiro had drawn his sword once more.
Luo En said, "Where are we now?"
Taiyiro looked around, but everything was pitch-black, nothing visible.
"I could sense that earlier aura—it seemed to carry the scent of curse."
"But why can't I feel it anymore now?"
Taiyiro shook his head and said.
"In that instant, I felt a strange force grab my foot and yank me downward."
"I knew it was the curse's doing."
"But what's around us now doesn't quite feel like a curse."
"In any case, be careful—our opponent is too cunning."
Suddenly, a rustling sound echoed from all around—as if something was slowly approaching.
But they couldn't see a thing.
Luo En said.
"Be careful—we just escaped from his body."
"And now we've walked right back in."
"But this place seems different from where we were before."
Luo En felt something creeping toward them from every direction.
He quickly gripped the broken sword in his hand.
Even though they had just escaped danger, he hadn't discarded the broken blade.
Now, it had finally become useful.
Taiyiro slashed repeatedly at the void, trying to discern what this place truly was through his longsword.
Soon, Taiyiro said.
"This seems like a vast, empty cavern—could we be inside some cave?"
"He must have teleported us here—what does he intend to do?"
Luo En stared fixedly ahead—he had sensed a strange force slowly approaching from the front.
Soon, through a dim glow, Luo En saw clearly.
It was a mass of tentacles.
Just like the fuzzy, enormous cluster of tentacles he had seen earlier in the passage, now rushing toward them.
Luo En roared.
"Watch out—it's that thing again!"
As he spoke, Luo En swiftly swung the broken sword, trying to sever the tentacles.
He knew that with one strike, the creature would scatter—making the tentacles even harder to deal with afterward.
But now there is no other way.
Seeing Luo En act, Taiyirou immediately swung his long blade.
The two rapidly closed in on the cluster of tentacles.
Taiyirou roared.
"What the hell is this monster? Why is it so stubborn?"
The long blade slashed down hard, but the ball of tentacles rolled away skillfully.
Taiyirou's strike missed.
He quickly twisted his body to dissipate his force.
He must not expend all his strength now, or he would easily fall victim to the enemy's ambush.
He had suffered from these tentacles before, and now he was extremely cautious.
The tentacles' target seemed not to be Taiyirou, but Luo En.
They skillfully avoided Taiyirou's blade and swiftly lunged toward Luo En.
Luo En was stunned—he had not expected these tentacles to attack selectively.
He swiftly thrust his broken blade forward, then rolled on the ground.
He hoped to evade the tentacles' attack this way.
Luo En had not yet fully recovered his strength; his inner cursed energy remained minimal.
He knew that if he used up this tiny amount of cursed energy, he would have none left.
He must preserve this little cursed energy for the final moment.
Seeing Luo En in danger, Taiyirou rushed over to help him.
But unexpectedly, two enormous tentacles suddenly appeared beside him.
They were dozens of times larger than ordinary tentacles, each seemingly woven from countless smaller tentacles.
Taiyirou roared and struck swiftly, slashing his blade against the tentacles.
A string of sparks exploded.
But the tentacles seemed unharmed.
"Damn it, this thing is ridiculously hard."
Taiyirou snorted and swiftly adjusted his position to evade the tentacles' attack.
A massive deep pit had appeared where his feet had just been.
Taiyirou was shaken.
If he had hesitated even slightly in dodging, he would already have been pierced through by these tentacles.
He hadn't realized those small tentacles only sucked blood.
