Chapter 597: Luo En
"This… what's going on? I clearly remember this was the exit."
The direction that Nai Zi pointed to.
Luo En said.
"This curse possesses an extremely powerful ability to invert heaven and earth; it can arbitrarily alter everything we see."
"So although you came this way before,"
"now this direction is clearly no longer the path you took earlier."
"We're lost."
Nai Zi's face grew even more grim as she spoke.
"What should we do now?"
"Should we go in first and kill the curse, or treat the elder's wound first?"
As she spoke, she glanced at Taiyilang, sensing he had already slipped into shock.
His physical condition was terrible, and many of his wounds showed signs of infection.
If we don't treat them soon, he likely won't survive the night.
Luo En said.
"The wound must be treated, but we can't get out right now."
"We'll have to treat it right here."
Nai Zi gazed at Taiyilang with deep concern.
Taiyilang, however, kept his head lowered; he could feel a searing pain coursing through his body.
Every part of him felt as if pierced by ten thousand arrows.
Yet he forced himself to endure it, refusing to cry out, so as not to worry these two juniors.
Clenching his Yaguan, he endured the pain and said,
"It's fine, don't mind me."
"Figure out how to break out—after that, everything else will be easier."
"If I stay here, I'll only draw more attacks from these things."
Before he finished speaking, a rustling sound came from the darkness.
They all knew the tentacles had begun circling around them again, seeking every possible weakness.
Nai Zi gripped her long blade tightly; a flicker of fear passed through her eyes.
Before meeting Luo En, she had just endured a brutal battle.
That fight remained vivid in her memory; the tentacles' attack patterns were bizarre.
Each time, they nearly bit into her.
Every slash of her blade against the tentacles sparked fire—but the tentacles remained unharmed.
When she first came, she'd thought this curse was merely an ordinary one.
Since no one from school wanted to come, she'd planned to handle it herself, then return to school and properly punish those disobedient brats.
But she never imagined the curse's horror far exceeded her wildest fears.
Luo En whispered,
"Don't be reckless—when it matters, you must fall back."
"Don't get entangled with these tentacles."
Taiyilang was the proof: his earlier entanglement left him wounded in multiple places.
Once these tentacles bite into skin, they rapidly drain blood.
If too much blood is lost, death is certain.
Nai Zi nodded; she understood this well.
But in actual combat, she had no idea where the tentacles would emerge from.
Though she possessed formidable strength and was among the top in her year,
facing these tentacles, she still found herself flustered.
They easily disrupted her rhythm.
She gritted her teeth and said,
"I never thought these things could be so terrifying."
Luo En said,
"First, calm your mind—don't dwell on how terrifying they are."
"Only when calm can you quickly analyze their weaknesses."
Though he said this, Luo En knew his own state.
To fight, he needed to reignite that boundless rage.
Only that rage could unlock his potential, fully unleashing his power,
continuously supplying him with new strength.
Since seeing Nai Zi, that feeling of anger had dimmed considerably.
Now he felt utterly drained, barely keeping himself from collapsing.
Fortunately, he and Taiyilang supported each other, preventing him from falling.
Nai Zi had long noticed Luo En's exhaustion.
Seeing the states of both Taiyilang and Luo En, she knew they had already fought multiple battles.
Nai Zi said.
"With just the three of us, can we break out?"
Luo En nodded.
"It should be fine."
He was comforting Naizi, but even he didn't know if their strength could break through.
At that moment.
That group of tentacles once again formed a twisting shape.
Charged toward them.
Some of the tentacles coalesced into a single larger tentacle.
