Chapter 624

~5 min read 896 words

But the truly powerful ones are the great curses; the one you just eliminated was a great curse.

As they spoke, Luo En felt the atmosphere around him grow strangely tense.

He looked around and realized they were in a remote, desolate wasteland.

Just moments ago they had been walking down a mountain path, yet in an instant they found themselves on unfamiliar ground.

Naizi also saw the setting and her face instantly darkened.

"It seems we've been marked by a curse."

Luo En frowned slightly and said.

"It doesn't matter how many curses come—I'll kill them all."

Luo En shouted loudly.

"Who are you? Come out now!"

The two energy forms began trembling and said.

"I sense an incredibly powerful aura—this curse's power is stronger than the one you just eliminated."

Before the words were even finished, their forms grew partially transparent.

Luo En immediately went on guard.

From the darkness stepped a figure, slowly approaching Luo En.

Luo En felt a powerful curse aura radiating from him.

He blocked Naizi behind himself, then stepped forward toward the figure.

"I didn't expect you to kill him—you do have some decent strength."

The figure chuckled, as if utterly unconcerned by Luo En.

Luo En snorted coldly.

"Is that so? Then I'll eliminate you next."

The man laughed.

"Young man, don't be overconfident—you may not even comprehend the true extent of a curse's power."

Luo En said.

"Then let me witness it for myself."

With that, he struck suddenly, swift as lightning, aiming straight for the figure's heart.

Against a curse, he had no time for idle words.

The opponent seemed to have anticipated this move—he stood perfectly still.

Luo En's hand pierced straight through his chest, but in that instant his expression changed.

He realized he had struck nothing.

He yanked his hand back and swiftly retreated to Naizi's side.

"Be careful—this thing is deeply unnatural."

Luo En said to Naizi.

At that moment, Naizi had already drawn her twin blades and held them before her chest.

Then the shadow appeared like a ghost behind Luo En.

"I told you—you're no match for me."

The voice slithered like a fine thread, seeping into Luo En's ears.

Luo En roared and struck out rapidly, trying to sever the shadow.

But the opponent moved too fast—Luo En couldn't land a hit.

Naizi joined in, her twin blades slashing into a curtain of light.

Then came a sharp crack—Naizi felt a tremendous force slam into her.

She blocked the attack with her blades.

Under the force, her body flew backward like a kite with severed string, crashing heavily to the ground.

Luo En rushed forward to help Naizi, when suddenly a surge of energy exploded before him.

He didn't even catch a glimpse of the curse's form before the shockwave flung him to the ground.

Luo En rolled up and quickly reached Naizi's side.

He saw her condition was dire.

Luo En shouted.

"Are you alright?"

Naizi clenched her Yaguan, struggling to reply.

"I'm fine—don't worry about me, deal with the curse first."

Luo En looked up, scanning around—but apart from the energy, he couldn't see the curse's form at all.

It seemed the curse had concealed its shape entirely.

And until now, the curse's methods of attack had been bizarrely unpredictable.

Luo En muttered.

"We may need to avoid its edge first—these curses have already surrounded us."

"One misstep and we'll fall into their trap."

With that, he helped Naizi up and sprinted swiftly in another direction.

At that moment, he noticed the scenery before him shifting constantly.

Suddenly, his body plunged sharply downward.

Luo En hadn't reacted when he found himself falling into an endless abyss.

Naizi let out a scream.

"Where is this?"

Naizi looked at Luo En in terror; they didn't know why they had suddenly arrived in this darkness.

Luo En suspected this was an illusion, for it seemed so unreal.

"If this really is an illusion, how do we break it?"

Naizi asked, her face filled with worry.

As she fell, she felt a fierce energy among the forces surging from all directions.

That energy had been tightly wrapped around her, but now it had vanished.

Naizi believed that energy might be the key.

Since they had come here, they must find a way out.

Luo En supported Naizi as they walked forward, and suddenly he saw a figure standing not far ahead.

Luo En was startled; the man's appearance was too abrupt.

He stepped forward cautiously and called out loudly.

"Who are you?"

The figure did not answer Luo En, but suddenly turned around.

Luo En saw the strange smile on the man's face.

Naizi whispered.

"Be careful—I feel this guy is strange."

"Though he has no aura of curse, there seems to be some inexplicable energy inside him."

Even without Naizi's warning, Luo En had already sensed it.

He was naturally sensitive to energy, and the man's energy blended seamlessly with the surrounding environment.

Clearly, the man belonged here.

Luo En asked again.

"Who are you really?"

The man slowly walked up to Luo En and placed his hand on Luo En's shoulder.

Luo En was taken aback, but he dared not move.

He felt the man's body brimming with that energy, slowly flowing around his body.

The man could control this energy at will.

Naizi stared fixedly at the man.
