Chapter 639

~5 min read 901 words

Luo En steadied himself; he knew this was the best moment to buy time.

Yet he himself did not know what purpose buying this time served—he only knew he must survive right now.

He spoke loudly.

"This is certainly an important piece of intelligence, but if others overheard such vital information, it would be inappropriate."

"I hope we may speak alone, so I may reveal this intelligence to you."

The Kage arrived before Luo En.

"Why should I trust you? Must I alone be with you just because of your word?"

Luo En looked into the Kage's eyes and felt the Kage's deep interest in that intelligence.

So he spoke decisively.

"Of course this is an extremely important piece of intelligence; if spoken carelessly, it would be meaningless."

"If you trust me, you will receive an intelligence you greatly desire."

The Kage spoke coolly.

"What kind of intelligence?"

Luo En paused a moment, then said.

"About the relationship between the Academy and the Kage—I learned a tremendous secret during my time at the Academy."

"The Academy has already mastered a method to counter the Kage, and they will put it into practice soon."

The Kage frowned tightly.

Though he did not believe Luo En's words, if this news involved the Academy, he still wanted to know.

After all, the Academy could cause the Kage immense trouble.

He glanced at Luo En again, as if observing his expression.

Though Luo En was deeply nervous, he forced himself to remain calm.

After a moment, the Kage nodded and said.

"If so, I will give you one chance."

"But only one chance—if you fail to value it, you will be sent straight to hell."

Luo En nodded rapidly.

The Kage then led him into a room.

"Speak—what is this intelligence?"

Luo En took a deep breath and said.

"Have you ever heard of Plan A?"

The Kage paused, then shook his head.

Luo En said.

"The Academy has already begun preparing for total war against the Kage."

"And they are now gathering vast amounts of Curse Energy—you know well how Curse Energy affects the Kage."

The Kage's expression subtly changed.

"Even if they declare war, they stand no chance against us."

"Our influence now spans the globe—how can a single Academy oppose us?"

Luo En smiled faintly.

"I think even you don't believe what you just said."

"Before this, the Academy had sufficient strength to resist you—and clearly, you fear the Academy."

The Kage frowned tightly, staring at Luo En.

"Do you think we fear a mere Academy?"

Luo En studied his eyes and saw the Kage was indeed wavering.

Previously, the Academy had inflicted great damage upon the Kage.

Though their conflict had lasted a long time,

even now, these Kage still bore psychological scars.

"But I can help you."

Luo En suddenly said.

The Kage regarded Luo En with suspicion.

"Why should I believe you will help me?"

Luo En said.

"Because I want to live—that is the reason."

The Kage studied Luo En's expression again.

Clearly, though Luo En feigned calm, he remained nervous.

Just as Luo En thought the Kage had begun to doubt him, the Kage nodded instead.

"If so, prove your sincerity."

Luo En said.

"I can go to the Academy and gather more information for you—but you must release them."

The Kage shook his head.

"There is no trust between us yet—I cannot simply let you go."

"So you must go to the Academy alone."

If you truly bring something of value, I may consider letting you go.

Luo En had long anticipated the curse would say this; he certainly did not believe the curse would trust him so quickly.

Before leaving, Luo En went to take one last look at Yokota Long Yi and Nai Zi.

Both of them stared at Luo En, their faces filled with surprise.

Yokota Long Yi spoke.

"What do you intend to do?"

Luo En said.

"I have a deal with the curse.

If the deal goes smoothly, you will be able to leave soon."

Yokota Long Yi frowned tightly.

"Are you really planning to…"

Luo En nodded.

"There is no other way now—we must take the risk."

After speaking, he glanced at the curse waiting beside him, then said:

"After all, I still want to live."

Luo En certainly would not search the academy for valuable materials.

After returning to the academy, he quickly sought out information about the curse, hoping to find its weakness.

Aside from cursed energy, the curse must have other weaknesses.

Yet after turning over every scrap of the academy's records, Luo En found no weakness of the curse.

"Damn it, he must have other weaknesses—I'm certain I'll find them soon."

Luo En clenched his fist.

Then, by chance, he noticed a book on the shelf, thick with dust.

Few ever opened this book, for it contained nothing but anecdotes and tales.

More precisely, it was a collection of stories; driven by some inexplicable impulse, Luo En picked it up and placed it on the table.

The book was extremely ancient, its surface entirely coated in dust.

Luo En tapped the book with his hand, sending up a cloud of dust.

He then opened the first page, which contained descriptions of various curses.

Luo En quickly flipped through the pages.

Suddenly, he came upon a page detailing the curse's weakness.

The book marked the curse as:
