Chapter 659

~8 min read 1,454 words

Just now, that next movement was strangely off.

The curse was injured; Taichirō saw it clearly, and as if he had found hope, he shouted loudly.

"Wake up quickly—this isn't the time to sleep."

Saying this, he shook Luo En violently; Luo En felt himself suddenly pulled by a force, and he struggled desperately to break free, only to find the pulling force growing stronger.

Soon, Luo En saw a shadow ahead; he rushed forward, wanting to see who it was.

But the pulling force grew ever stronger; no matter how hard Luo En fought, he couldn't resist it, and gradually he was dragged out of here.

Then a blinding light struck; Luo En opened his eyes, but found himself utterly unaccustomed to the surroundings.

He had to close his eyes again, and after a long while, slowly opened them.

The earlier blinding light had now softened into a gentle glow, shining on Luo En's face; he finally saw the outside world clearly—he never expected to be here.

Taichirō saw Luo En's eyes open; they seemed to have regained their luster, and he exclaimed joyfully.

"I never thought you'd come back—you've had us terrified."

Saying this, he patted Luo En's shoulder, then frowned slightly.

"Have you been in this state for a long time?"

Luo En was about to nod, but suddenly the scene before him shifted again—they seemed to have returned to where they were before. Luo En was stunned; he looked around and felt this place was like a labyrinth, where no matter which way they walked, they always ended up back here.

Luo En said.

"It seems we took the wrong direction before, which is why this state occurred."

After speaking, no one responded; Luo En was startled, and immediately turned to look in other directions, searching for Taichirō's figure.

But to Luo En's shock, the vast space now held only him alone—there was no trace of Taichirō.

What's going on? Luo En was bewildered; he sprinted in all directions, trying to recover his lost memories.

But clearly, he could recall nothing now.

Luo En looked around and suddenly woke up—he was still in the Asura Hell, flames still raging from all sides, burning fiercely.

So all that had just been a dream; he hadn't escaped this space.

But what puzzled Luo En was that in that instant, he'd even doubted which was real and which was the dream.

Outside, in the real world, Taichirō was frantically calling Luo En's name, trying to wake him, but Luo En remained sunk in sleep—he couldn't rouse him at all.

The curses smiled at Taichirō.

"We can't fathom what you're struggling for—do you really think you still have a chance to defeat us?"

Saying this, they began to close in.

Taichirō gripped his twin blades tightly, feeling the energy radiating from them, then said:

"Even if he won't wake, you won't take this place."

Saying this, he charged forward, swinging his twin blades; they formed a barrier around Taichirō, and the blade qi instantly tore through one of the curses' bodies.

Though the curse healed quickly, it was sufficiently enraged.

Taichirō, alone against so many curses, couldn't hold his ground; soon he was driven back step by step, retreating desperately.

He wanted to help Luo En, but now he couldn't even help himself; helplessly, he gazed at Luo En, hoping he would wake soon.

But it was clear Luo En wouldn't wake anytime soon—he remained in deep sleep, his furrowed brows showing he was suffering even in his dream.

"Damn it—I never expected to fall for that bastard's trap."

Luo En cursed aloud; they had thought their plan flawless, but had never guessed the girl had seen through it all—now they were caught in her trap.

Luo En felt his condition worsening; though he fought desperately against the Asura Hell, even with his speed, he was being pushed back by that aura.

In that world, the air was thick with the scent of slaughter, infecting Luo En relentlessly.

Though Luo En tried his best to remain unaffected, he simply couldn't.

The surrounding aura surged wildly, and Luo En felt as if he had become someone else—his inner depths blazed with fire, and he erupted again.

"Look at yourself now—you've become someone else; you're no longer the Luo En you were."

Suddenly, a voice echoed in Luo En's ear; he turned in surprise and saw a young woman standing behind him.

She looked exactly like the girl Luo En had met before, yet he sensed this woman was not her—the aura she emitted was vastly different.

Luo En asked, bewildered.

"Who are you? Why are you here?"

Though trapped in this illusion, he knew he was dreaming—he couldn't wake up, but his mind remained clear.

The woman smiled.

"I never expected you'd still have such clarity under these circumstances—it's truly surprising."

Luo En frowned slightly; this woman didn't seem like a figment of his hallucination, for he would never say such things himself.

He stared at the woman, puzzled.

"Who are you? Why are you here?"

The woman said.

"I'm here to help you. I can see you're in grave danger, and your friend is in dire straits too."

Luo En said urgently.

"How is he? Take me out—I need to save him."

The woman shook her head.

"Only you can take yourself out—you must free yourself with your own strength."

Luo En shook his head.

"But I can't—I've used all my strength and still can't resist."

The woman looked ahead.

"Maybe it's just a method you haven't mastered."

He was referring to Luo En.

"Do you really think you can resist this power with brute force alone? But this power is not external—it comes from deep within you, so you must change your inner mindset if you hope to break free."

These words seemed to awaken Luo En; during previous battles, he had never confronted his own psyche, so in every fight he had expended every ounce of his strength.

Although he had gained tremendous growth, this very habit had forged a powerful inner demon within him.

And now, in this environment, his inner demon suddenly began to torment him, which was why he kept falling into predicaments.

Luo En understood. He immediately expelled his distracting thoughts, and at that moment he clearly sensed the world beginning to show signs of collapse.

The woman smiled at Luo En, nodding slightly, as if deeply satisfied with his current state.

Luo En was astonished and said:

"Then tell me—who are you? Why are you helping me?"

The woman said:

"I have a deep karmic bond with him, and we might even be considered the same person—but we belong to opposing factions. What she creates is always filled with destruction and poses great harm to us, so I must stop her."

Luo En looked at the woman, surprised, but with her help, he quickly sensed he was on the edge of breaking through this illusion.

The woman praised:

"You possess immense power and high insight, so I hope you will help me—and in doing so, help yourself."

Luo En said:

"If stopping him requires anything from me, I'll do it. Curses must not exist in this world—he would devastate it utterly."

The woman nodded, seemingly in full agreement with Luo En's words; in that instant, Luo En felt a violent surge of energy erupting within him.

Then the illusion shattered abruptly. Luo En snapped open his eyes to find the girl preparing to strike Taiyilang.

Taiyilang's condition was dire. Luo En roared, and a terrifying shockwave instantly surged outward. He then concentrated all his cursed energy into a furious assault forward. The girl had not anticipated that Luo En would awaken so swiftly.

She frantically retreated, while simultaneously summoning the curses around her to attack Luo En.

"How is this possible? How did you do this?"

The girl stared at Luo En in disbelief. Just moments ago, he had been trapped in the illusion, clearly unable to break free in any short time—yet now, in an instant, he had shattered free.

Luo En smiled:

"Your actions have angered heaven and enraged mortals. Don't you know? Even heaven refuses to aid you—so I awoke swiftly."

The girl naturally did not believe such talk of heaven and earth. She knew something was aiding Luo En. She turned her gaze upon him, her eyes brimming with murderous intent.

"Is it her? Have you seen her?"

Luo En knew who the girl meant, but he denied it outright.

"I've seen no one. I rely solely on the power of heaven and earth—so I will defeat you soon. Rest assured, heaven will not aid you."

The girl smiled warmly at Luo En.
