Chapter 684: Suppression and the Suppressed
The people in the academy immediately launched a counterattack; Taiyilang wielded his dual blades, desperately assaulting these strange figures, and then Luo En saw Naizi again.
These were all people he knew very well; the opponent deliberately showed him this imagery to provoke him.
Luo En shouted loudly.
"Enough! What do you really want?"
But no one responded to Luo En's voice; the battle on the screen grew fiercer by the moment. Taiyilang and Naizi were strong, and they quickly broke through, but clearly the opponent had no intention of letting them go.
Soon after, the sky's color darkened further, and the entire world turned gray and hazy; countless monsters suddenly surged toward this direction, making Taiyilang and Naizi's battle increasingly difficult.
At this moment, Luo En felt an unnamed fire surging within him—a sensation he recognized; when he fought those curses, it was this rage that had instantly boosted his power in dire moments, and now he felt this rage growing more violent.
The girl seemed to sense the hostility Luo En was now unleashing; she shouted loudly.
"Don't lose yourself—this is the most critical moment; you must stay clear-headed."
Luo En gritted his teeth.
"They've gone too far—I will stop him at all costs."
As he spoke, Luo En clenched his fists; he felt the energy within him surging wildly outward. The girl never expected Luo En to unleash such an aura—she was startled, yet also worried, for his current state resembled that of a mad demon.
The aura radiating from him now carried a metallic stench of blood; the girl stepped forward again to stop him, but the aura from Luo En repelled her back—she found she could no longer approach him, and Luo En stared fixedly at the screen.
His aura surged again; with a thunderous boom, Luo En directly shattered a gaping hole in the darkness, letting through a sliver of light—this place was indeed the opponent's prison, appearing as a black world, but in truth merely an ordinary space.
At once, countless energies surged toward Luo En again, attempting to reform the prison, but with the aura Luo En now unleashed, those energies could not coalesce around him.
The man appeared before Luo En, gazing at him in surprise; the energy Luo En unleashed even startled him.
Luo En looked at the man.
"I never thought you'd dare return—but good. You must pay for what you've done."
Before he finished speaking, Luo En vanished. The man hadn't even registered what happened when he suddenly felt a chill at his neck, then realized Luo En had lifted him by the throat.
Such terrifying aura—he was stunned. Earlier, Luo En had nearly been cornered and still hadn't unleashed this power, yet now he had broken through his limits.
"Even in your current state, you can't kill me."
The man said calmly.
Luo En suddenly twisted with all his strength, snapping the man's head clean off, then casually tossed the corpse to the ground—killing him instantly.
The girl stared at Luo En in horror, her heart racing; though Luo En was her friend, his current state made her fear he might turn on her.
But unexpectedly, the corpse began slowly moving again; flames erupted from his body, his head fused back into his torso, the fire growing fiercer, and the man stepped slowly out of the flames.
"I told you—even in your current state, you can't kill me. Phoenix rebirth: each time I regenerate, I grow stronger. The more times you kill me, the stronger I become."
As he spoke, he lunged forward and slammed into Luo En, sending him flying.
Luo En crashed hard to the ground, immediately rolled up, and reappeared before the man.
With a dull thunderous crash, Luo En punched through the man's chest, shattering it; the man collapsed, appearing dead once more.
The girl cried out in panic.
"Don't kill him—he'll become stronger!"
Luo En froze. In his rage, he hadn't processed what the man said; sure enough, moments later, flames erupted again from the corpse, and the man slowly stepped out.
Now his aura was utterly different—no weaker than Luo En's.
"I never imagined that, blinded by rage, you wouldn't stop me—you'd help me. My power has now reached a level that even I find shocking."
The man felt the energy within him, smiling.
Luo En roared.
"So what? I'll knock you down again."
The man chuckled.
"Really? Then I look forward to you knocking me down—again and again."
As he spoke, he charged at Luo En.
But Luo En now dared not let the man kill him again; he kept retreating, yet when he attacked, he held nothing back. This battle raged in chaos so intense the girl couldn't get close—she could only retreat far away and watch.
He knew both their powers had reached terrifying levels; if he intervened, he'd help nothing and risk his own life.
Terrifying explosions rang continuously; they clashed and instantly separated, yet each felt the other's surging energy.
Luo En had unlocked his potential through rage, but after such a prolonged battle, he felt his energy draining too fast—he was growing exhausted. After retreating again, he immediately put distance between himself and the opponent.
The man immediately recognized Luo En's condition and smiled.
"How's it feel? Can you no longer match me?"
Luo En clenched his fists; though he refused to admit it, he truly felt the man growing harder to fight—each clash made the opponent stronger, and Luo En could no longer hold his ground.
