Chapter 698: The Secret of the Bead

~5 min read 949 words

Immediately, Luo En felt the energy inside the bead seemed ready to burst forth, when Xiang Luoen stepped before him, noticing the bead, she said.

"I can sense that this bead is continuously releasing energy outward. Though I don't know what kind of energy it is, I can feel it might affect us."

Luo En nodded and said.

"That's right, I feel the same."

He then placed the bead on the ground. The surface was cold, yet even resting on the ground, the bead still radiated warmth—clearly, this heat came from the energy within.

Just as both of them focused intently on the bead, Luo En suddenly felt a force violently yanking him inward. In an instant, his vision brightened—he found himself in a new world, where everything around him shifted endlessly, dazzling and brilliant.

Suddenly, a muffled boom rang out. Luo En saw a surge of energy erupting not far away, hurtling straight toward him. He was stunned, for this energy was vastly different from any he had ever seen—it seemed to possess its own consciousness.

Just as the energy reached Luo En's face, he suddenly woke up, finding himself back in his original position, the bead lying quietly on the ground.

Had it all been just an illusion? But soon he sensed something was wrong—perhaps it wasn't an illusion at all, but the bead that had truly drawn his consciousness into that world.

Xiang Luoen looked at Luo En, surprised, and said.

"What happened just now? You suddenly went silent. No matter how much I called you, you didn't respond."

Luo En said.

"This bead is strange. I need to find that person and ask him what this bead really is."

Luo En first found the girl. She was now studying the creature she had created, capable of granting it countless possibilities. She had originally intended for the creature to learn and master more, but she quickly abandoned the idea.

The creature preferred combat—it grew stronger through battle. After the previous fight, its power had advanced significantly.

When the girl saw Luo En, she seemed startled.

Luo En said.

"When that person gave you this bead, didn't he tell you anything?"

The girl nodded and said.

"Yes, he only told me to give you this bead, then vanished. Why? Is there something wrong with this bead?"

Luo En nodded and said.

"This bead may be the key. It's certainly not an ordinary bead—it contains immense energy, and inside it seems to be a deeply mysterious world."

The girl stared at the bead in surprise.

"But before he vanished, he mentioned something about the Northern Abyss Realm—but he said it to someone else. I didn't hear it clearly."

Luo En was stunned. He hadn't realized someone else had been there at that time. He said.

"Who was there?"

The girl shook her head.

"I didn't see anyone. He just spoke to empty air, saying he would go to that place. But after checking all ancient texts, I never found any record of such a place. He must have said it deliberately to mislead us."

Luo En shook his head.

"Regardless, every word he spoke is crucial. If we want to find him, we must understand everything he did."

Luo En clenched his fist. Though he knew the man was extremely powerful, to uncover more truth, he must find him.

The girl looked at Luo En and said.

"Since that person hasn't returned, shouldn't we let this go? We don't need to court death."

Luo En said.

"But now he's let us go—what then? He'll likely strike again. With his invisible movements and strange powers, we're no match for him. If he attacks us secretly, we might collapse instantly."

The girl looked at the creature beside her and said.

"But I'm currently granting it even greater power. Soon, it will become our strongest fighter. I'm confident I can control it."

As she spoke, she lightly tapped the creature with her finger. Its appearance was bizarre. Only then did Luo En realize the creature had changed drastically—it was now covered in muscle, radiating a terrifying energy. Clearly, the creature had evolved.

Luo En hadn't expected the girl could not only create beings but also evolve them.

"This is the most perfect being I've created."

The girl smiled and nodded, admiring her creation.

Luo En said.

"No matter what, we can't let our guard down. That man won't give up—he'll seek other victims. We must stop him."

The girl nodded and said.

"Of course, I will act on this. But right now, what I must do is even more important."

As she spoke, a cluster of energy suddenly appeared in her hand. When Luo En sensed it, he was slightly surprised—he felt a pulse of life within that energy.

"What are you planning to do?"

Luo En asked, startled.

The girl said.

"Every living being needs vigorous life force. Life force is the key to generating energy. The life force I've granted my creations is extremely subtle, so their energy remains weak. But this one is different—I want to grant it more life force."

As she spoke, she shoved the energy cluster into the creature's mouth.

Luo En felt that since the last battle, the girl had changed greatly. She now spent all day locked in her room studying creatures, never truly stepping outside.

Luo En believed the girl's mindset had shifted, so he wanted to help her. He said.

"Though that man has indeed shocked us, and his power is immense—if we fought him directly, we'd surely lose. But we mustn't belittle ourselves. We're ordinary people; we can't become as strong as he is."

"So we must adjust our mindset."
