Chapter 176: Eating Meat
"Then let's have buns and lamb meatballs." An Yinan's eyes were sparkling; being able to eat meat and go hunting made her hands feel itchy lately.
"Okay." Chen Xun nodded, then went to the counter to order.
Because there were few people, the food was ready very quickly.
When Chen Xun brought the food over, An Yinan saw that the lamb meatballs were actually a whole large pot, and the meat buns were as big as Chen Xun's fist.
"Is there a purchase limit?" An Yinan asked.
Chen Xun said, "I'll go ask in a moment."
"Mm-hmm."
Buying some buns to take back, she could slowly take them out to heat and eat; the taste of these Deer Meat Buns was different from the Northeast, the meat quality seemed more chewy, and they were filled with rich broth—so fragrant.
After drinking the last drop of the meatball soup, An Yinan finally put down her bowl with satisfaction.
"So satisfied." The little girl sat straight on the stool, then squinted her eyes contentedly.
Chen Xun watched with amusement; his little girl was just too easy to satisfy.
He went to ask the ticket clerk; there was actually no limit on the quantity, but to ensure their business, one could buy at most fifty buns.
He bought the tickets directly and purchased the buns.
"What are the plans for the afternoon?" An Yinan asked.
After eating delicious food, her whole body felt lazy.
"There really is a plan for the afternoon, we're almost there." Chen Xun pointed ahead and said.
An Yinan looked over, oh! A photo studio.
"This is..." An Yinan turned her head to look at her man.
"Since we got married, we haven't taken our photos yet. My work is too busy and it's hard to ask for leave, so it kept getting pushed until now."
"Nan Nan, I hope that everything other girls have, you will have too."
"And what other girls don't have, I hope you can have as well." Chen Xun bent down slightly to look An Yinan in the eyes.
An Yinan couldn't suppress the corners of her mouth; if they weren't on the street, she would have given her old Comrade Chen a passionate kiss no matter what.
The two of them arrived at the photo studio; the photographer was about fifty years old.
"A couple's photo or individual photos?" the boss asked.
"A couple's photo," Chen Xun replied.
Once they were ready, An Yinan first helped Chen Xun get into position, then she set her own pose; every smile and every doting look was recorded by the camera.
"Ten shots in total, print three copies of each," An Yinan said.
The boss calculated and said, "Fifty cents per print, thirty prints in total, that's fifteen yuan."
"Come back to pick them up in ten days."
An Yinan paid the money and took the receipt.
Chen Xun reached out and took the receipt, "I'll come to pick them up."
An Yinan looked at the man's face, then smiled and nodded, "That works too."
After the two finished taking photos, the sky had grown dim. They arrived at the place to board the vehicle, and it was already more than half full. The ride back was very quiet, and An Yinan was a bit tired, so she leaned on Chen Xun's arm and fell into a drowsy sleep.
As they were about to arrive, Chen Xun draped his overcoat over her and pulled her hat down further, "We're almost there, wake up a bit, sleep when we get home."
An Yinan nodded, but she still didn't want to open her eyes.
Chen Xun let her be, tightened her scarf, and put her gloves on for her.
The vehicle stopped outside the Camp, and Chen Xun pulled An Yinan as they jumped off. Sun Xiuzhen watched their backs and secretly smiled, shaking her head.
Everyone said this Battalion Commander Chen was cold and aloof, not of this world.
It seems he just hadn't met the right person; looking at it now, how well he takes care of her?
Walking to a secluded spot, Chen Xun scooped her up in his arms. An Yinan suddenly felt her feet leave the ground, scared out of her wits.
"What are you doing?"
Chen Xun looked at the person in his arms, "It's nothing, there's no one around, you go to sleep."
The little girl's head was bobbing, and she was swaying as she walked; he was truly afraid she would fall asleep halfway.
"Oh." An Yinan leaned into his arms, smelling the familiar scent, and her breathing soon slowed down.
Chen Xun carried her all the way back to the Xiao Yuan; except for it being a bit difficult to open the main gate, everything else went smoothly until they reached the room.
He first placed An Yinan on the kang, then pulled the quilt over to cover her.
Afterward, he lit the stove; they had been gone all day, and the fire in the stove had gone out, so it needed to be relit.
Then he lit the kitchen stove, put in two pieces of firewood, and heated up five buns before he finally had a moment of leisure.
Looking at the girl sleeping sweetly on the kang, Chen Xun playfully tapped the tip of her nose; perhaps because his hand was a bit cold, the little girl wrinkled her nose.
The next morning, Chen Xun went out for training.
An Yinan packed things up and looked at the brand-new fur; she thought about it and decided to set an alarm while Chen Xun was at training.
Sorting the fur by size, she made a set for each of her three partners, including a scarf, hat, and gloves.
She even made a pair of fur boots for Li Xiue and a pair of fur knee pads for Li Qiuhua.
As for Xie Yuanyuan, she made her a super cute hat with a pair of fox ears, and even specially drew on eyes and a nose, making the hat look extremely adorable.
Because of the inspiration from making the hat for Xie Yuanyuan, An Yinan also made a tiger-head hat for both Huzi and Xiaoshitou; the weather in the Northeast should be getting warm soon, so they probably wouldn't get to wear them now.
However, this gave her plenty of time; she planned to make a batch of fur hats here and have the streets and alleys of the Northeast County all wearing fur hats.
She had thought that after she left, her dealings with Liu Meijie would end.
Now that she thought about it, it seemed like it had only just begun?
Before she could finish the work in her hands, the alarm went off. An Yinan quickly sensed the surrounding environment, and after confirming Chen Xun hadn't returned, she exited the space.
She placed half of the finished items on the kang and hid the other half in the space.
After packing for less than half an hour, a knock sounded at the door outside. An Yinan threw on her cotton-padded jacket, went out to open the door, and saw a reluctant-looking Chen Xun, as well as Zhang Qian, and one other person whom An Yinan had not seen since arriving at the Camp: Qin Hao, Chen Xun's Attending Physician.
"Qin Dafu." She was not as familiar with Qin Hao, so basic politeness was required.
As for Zhang Qian, she was far too familiar with him; their camaraderie from Quanshui Village was no exaggeration, they were practically best buds, so there was no need to be overly formal.
Qin Hao said with a chuckle, "Sister-in-law, no need to be so formal, just call me Qin Hao."
"Come inside quickly." An Yinan nodded with a smile and then stepped aside to make room.
The three of them walked into the room, and upon feeling the temperature inside, Zhang Qian nudged Qin Hao's arm, "How about it, I wasn't lying, right? How comfortable is Xiao Yuan? Look at this temperature, do you have this in the dormitory?"
Qin Hao shook his head, looking around with a curious expression, "It really is, this room is just too warm."
