Chapter 213: No regrets toward anyone, no shame in one's heart

~8 min read 1,411 words

"Let Yun Shu accompany you, sit directly in my seat from yesterday. You must be obedient and cannot leave Yun Shu's sight."

In Liu Xicai's eyes, although her girl was capable, she always felt she was too delicate and needed protection.

In the eyes of parents, their own children always seem unable to grow up; they are always children.

"Alright, I'll listen to Big Aunt." An Yinan leaned on her shoulder, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly, her eyes shining brightly as if they contained a vast galaxy.

Big Aunt finished cooking and saw the two leaning against each other; she felt envious, but also happy for Xicai.

However, thinking of Liu Liu, a trace of heaviness flashed in her eyes.

"You two, just like mother and daughter, so clingy. Come over and eat." After a moment, Big Aunt came back to her senses and called them with a smile.

Liu Xicai and An Yinan looked at each other and both laughed.

Through time spent together and the verification of time, their relationship was just like that of a mother and daughter.

"Coming," Liu Xicai replied.

An Yinan walked over with a mischievous smile, and only then did Big Aunt see the girl's pale face. "Are you sick? Can't sleep well in the room? I'll change it for you today."

Liu Xicai hurriedly waved her hand. "This is makeup she drew. We're going to Qingmu University today. This project course was set long ago and can't be pushed back. We have to act the part fully."

Big Aunt breathed a sigh of relief. "It's hard on you."

An Yinan shook her head. "What's this? If the Liu Family is safe, the Yun Family will be safe. We are already of one mind and one branch; Big Aunt doesn't need to be so formal."

Of one mind and one branch!

Big Aunt thought to herself, a child this young understands this, so why doesn't her own maiden family understand?

Liu Xicai was stunned for a moment, then nodded contentedly.

The Yun Family—she said they were of one mind and one branch.

With An Yinan saying these words, she knew that her girl had finally accepted the Yun Family.

This was a sense of belonging, a transformation she might not have even discovered herself.

After eating, An Yinan left Yun Mo behind, and Yun Shu drove her to Qingmu University; someone had to stay at the Liu Family's place.

Although she estimated that her eldest uncle had already left people in the shadows, they were not her own people after all, and she was not at ease.

Today she didn't arrive early, just five minutes ahead of time. She went straight to the classroom, saw it was still full of people, and placed her lecture notes on the podium.

"I am very happy that everyone is here again today." An Yinan said she was happy, but there was no smile on her face, and her eyes were even filled with a look of exhaustion.

To act convincingly, she hadn't slept at all last night.

Liu Liu hadn't wanted to come today, but her partner insisted she come.

She had been slapped in the face by this An Yinan yesterday and had lost all face; if it weren't for her partner coaxing her and buying her several new outfits, she wouldn't have wanted to come at all!

Seeing Liu Liu, she was a little surprised, but it was also within her expectations.

"Time is tight, today we will continue to discuss..." Although An Yinan was mentally exhausted and her complexion was sickly pale, her voice remained steady, and there was no loss of rhythm in her teaching.

The contrast between her complexion over the two days was stark; the people below were all sharp, how could they not see it?

Although everyone was worried, they were also afraid of interrupting An Yinan's teaching rhythm.

An Yinan was very assertive when teaching; in her classroom, she had to be the one in charge, holding absolute control.

Until two hours later, after finishing all the content, An Yinan organized the teaching materials and then looked at everyone below.

"Every lesson, I want to say some closing remarks. What should I say today?"

An Yinan thought for a moment, then curled her lips, her gaze filled with expectation. "I hope that when we are in our twilight years, with white hair and aged faces, looking back on the past, we will have no regrets toward anyone and no shame in our hearts."

"Alright, the Phase II Project is officially concluded."

An Yinan smiled, curling her lips as she scanned everyone. Her gaze was not sharp; it held a faint exhaustion, yet also carried hope.

She, a child not yet twenty years old, looked at this group of trainees.

They were fifty or sixty years old, big shots in their respective fields.

They were researchers newly joined to the project.

They were those in charge of educational research and promoting national talent.

They were media personnel from major newspapers responsible for the latest news.

They came from various fields, but being able to sit here meant they were all excellent people.

Yet they were still shaken by An Yinan's words: no shame in one's heart.

"Class dismissed." After these two simple words, some left, but others stayed behind.

The male Comrade from yesterday quickly came over again and stood in the first position.

"Teacher An, here." The male Comrade pointed to a spot.

An Yinan took a look and took out another set of materials. These materials were more detailed and complete. It wasn't that she didn't want to teach them, but in the current era, it wasn't quite suitable yet.

"On the last page of the materials, there is an address where you can contact me. After reading it, give me a detailed article regarding this topic, no less than three thousand words of reflection, and a plan for the future."

After An Yinan made the arrangements, she looked at him seriously for more than ten seconds.

"Zhang Tianrui."

The male Comrade's eyes were very firm. Hearing Teacher An call his name, he was a bit surprised and instinctively stood up straight.

During class, Teacher An never asked questions and never answered them. She had her own rhythm for teaching, and after class was her time for answering questions. She always seemed to be in a hurry, coming and going in a rush; everyone was just a passerby. He hadn't expected her to remember his name.

An Yinan looked at him and then sighed softly. "How I hope you walk a righteous path. This 'righteous' is not the righteousness of a sect, but the righteousness of facing your own heart."

An Yinan rubbed her bloodshot eyes and smiled slightly.

She was very exhausted; everyone could see it. The bloodshot veins in her eyes were like spiderwebs, and there was even cold sweat on her pale forehead.

But she still spoke to him patiently.

She hoped he could walk a path where he could face his heart.

An Yinan continued, "I even hope that you are not a participant in this project, but a leader."

He could be a leader, rather than a participant.

Zhang Tianrui nodded firmly, "I will."

An Yinan did not speak; she had never believed in mere words. She was not truly a girl of only nineteen; she possessed a maturity beyond her years and the sensitivity of someone who had come out of an orphanage.

"Let's hope so. I, too, am doing my best and leaving the rest to fate," An Yinan said with a smile, rubbing her temples.

This time, Zhang Tianrui said nothing, simply clutching the book An Yinan had given him solemnly to his chest.

That document was over three hundred pages long, and every single word had been written by An Yinan's own hand. There were only five copies of this document in existence now, kept at the Compilation Bureau, Beijing University, Qingmu University, and the Research General Institute.

The one given to Zhang Tianrui was an original copy, one she had originally intended to keep for herself.

She also had not expected to meet Zhang Tianrui during the Phase II Project; he was very diligent and eager to learn, and his eyes were clear now, untainted by anything.

She was merely a conduit; she hoped for someone to come along and be the creator, the leader.
