Chapter 268: No Experience, But I Have a Brain!

~8 min read 1,438 words

Zhang Qian widened his eyes, "No way? He just figured it out?"

An Yinan and Chen Xun looked at Zhang Qian together; let's just say, as someone who has never even dated, where do you get the courage to make such a statement?

"Comrade Zhang Qian, you seem very experienced." An Yinan raised an eyebrow, looking at Zhang Qian with amusement.

Zhang Qian waved his hand, "As for me, I don't have experience, but I have a brain!"

For a moment, An Yinan didn't know if he was scolding Qin Hao, or scolding Qin Hao, or scolding...

"I hope when it's your turn, you can be just as clear-headed." An Yinan stopped paying attention to Zhang Qian.

The two of them were still discussing the new recruit training; recently there had always been unusual movements at the border, and they were preparing to take the new recruits out for field training.

One reason was to deter those at the border with ulterior motives, and the other was to let the new recruits realize early on that the Northeast Camp was fraught with crises.

It was a matter that served multiple purposes, and the two discussed it for quite a while.

When Zhang Qian was about to leave, An Yinan handed him a basket of things.

"This is?" Zhang Qian asked in confusion.

"Inside are some fruit wine, fried peanuts, and some jerky and meat sauce I made. I originally wanted to use them as a farewell gift, but I'll just give them to you early now," An Yinan said with a smile.

Her train was tomorrow, and she was going to leave, to leave this place where she had lived for two years.

She hadn't felt it while she was here, but now she felt a bit reluctant to leave.

Chen Xun sighed; he had been doing mental preparation for the past few days, but all his preparations became futile when faced with the actual departure.

Zhang Qian lifted the basket, "Thanks, I'll leave the rest of the time to you two." After speaking, Zhang Qian carried the basket and walked quickly out of the Xiao Yuan.

An Yinan walked to Chen Xun's side and looked up at him, "What's wrong?"

Chen Xun patted her head, seeing her mischievous look, "You know the answer, yet you ask."

An Yinan wrinkled her nose, then took his hand and led him toward the kitchen.

"These are the noodles I hung out to dry; if you're hungry when you get back, you can boil them directly, it's convenient."

"These three jars are meat sauce; after boiling the noodles, just add some meat sauce and you can eat them right away."

"This jar is peanuts, for eating with rice on normal days."

"Inside here is the air-dried rabbit Zhang Qian sent over; I've already prepared it with salt, let it sit a bit longer and it'll be ready to eat."

"Inside here is the jerky and dried vegetables I made; you can eat them directly."

An Yinan pulled Chen Xun along, giving careful instructions for each item.

Chen Xun suddenly pulled her into his arms; listening to her constant nagging, his emotions surged.

"You..."

Before An Yinan could finish her sentence, her mouth was blocked by Chen Xun.

The two kissed and embraced, winding their way from the kitchen all the way back to the room; Chen Xun's eyes were red, holding the person in his arms tightly, unable to bear letting go no matter what.

That night, An Yinan was like a small boat on a river, sinking and floating, drifting and falling.

The next day, Chen Xun sent An Yinan to the Railway Station.

Yun Shu and Yun Mo hid far away, leaving the time of parting to this couple.

"I'm leaving, you must eat well and take good care of yourself."

An Yinan looked up and said slowly.

Chen Xun nodded and tucked her stray hair behind her ear, "When you're on a mission, don't forget the time; remember to eat and sleep."

An Yinan nodded solemnly; over these two years, she had been working hard to break that habit.

"It's fine to go on missions, but pay attention to safety. You must keep the Hemostatic Pill I left you with you at all times; you are not allowed to be stingy with using it."

"Okay," Chen Xun agreed.

"Remember to miss me," Chen Xun instructed at the end.

An Yinan looked at him for a moment, then they smiled at each other.

The roar of the train interrupted their tenderness.

"Leader, it's time to go." Yun Shu looked at the watch on his wrist and had to come over to remind them.

An Yinan tilted her head, "I'm going."

Chen Xun didn't speak, he just nodded.

An Yinan took two steps back, then turned and walked a few steps, only to suddenly stop and turn back.

That person was still standing there, his gaze focused and affectionate.

An Yinan raised her hand and waved.

Then she turned and walked away with long strides.

This departure now would lead to a better reunion in the future.

An Yinan sat on the train, looking at the world of ice and snow outside; in the end, she said nothing and didn't even have any expression.

Chen Xun didn't keep her, because he understood that this was her dream.

She didn't choose to stay, because she knew he wanted her to fly freely.

The two of them didn't need to say so much, because they both understood each other.

"Nan Nan, over here."

As soon as An Yinan exited the station, she heard a familiar voice; she looked up and saw a familiar figure, Yun Qi.

"An Erge!" An Yinan walked over quickly, and the emotion of parting could no longer be seen on her.

Yun Qi walked to her side, took the suitcase from her hand, and then pointed to the car behind him.

"I was ordered to come and pick you up to the Military District Compound," Yun Qi said with a smile.

An Yinan raised an eyebrow, "Whose order?"

"Our family's head of the household, of course!" Yun Qi spread his hands and said helplessly.

"Is Big Uncle at the Dayuan?" An Yinan looked at the sky; today didn't seem to be a day off.

Besides, Big Uncle was always very busy; even on his days off, he was basically always at the Military District and rarely at home.

"He's waiting specifically for you," Yun Qi said.

Ever since receiving An Yinan's letter, everyone in the Yun Family had started arranging their work, specifically setting these few days aside just to be able to welcome An Yinan.

"If you say it like that, you'll make me misunderstand!" An Yinan said, between laughter and tears.

Yun Qi looked toward his side, "Misunderstand what?"

He put the things into the car's trunk, then opened the car door to let his younger sister get in first.

After Yun Qi sat in the back seat and tossed the keys to Yun Mo, he then looked at An Yinan.

An Yinan wrinkled her nose, "I'll misunderstand that I'm very important!"

Yun Qi laughed heartily, then tapped her forehead, "Don't you have any idea whether you're important or not?"

The journey was very smooth, with no traffic jams at all.

"Is it Nan Nan who's back?" Hearing the sound of the car, everyone in the Yun Family immediately stood up from the living room and walked outside.

An Yinan opened the car door and saw Grandmother standing in front, as well as Beibei beside Grandmother.

"Grandmother, Big Uncle, Big Aunt, Second Uncle, Second Aunt," An Yinan greeted them with a smile.

She also hadn't expected that Second Uncle, whom she had met once in Quanshui Village, would also be back today.

"I said it, this time it's definitely Nan Nan," Grandmother said happily, holding Nan Nan's hand.

Her entire state of mind seemed to be getting better and better, and her vitality had also improved.

"Grandmother, I've made you worry," An Yinan said softly, holding Grandmother's hand.

That time she fell into a coma, Beijing ultimately couldn't hide it from Grandmother; Grandmother fainted right away and was ill for a month. Big Aunt had originally planned to go to the Northeast Military Region to take a look, but because she had to take care of Grandmother, she didn't go.

After she woke up, the first thing she did was call Grandmother. Upon hearing the news that she was safe, the old lady finally set her mind at ease, and her health improved along with it.
