Chapter 276: Tense Mission Time

~7 min read 1,375 words

An Yinan waved her hand, "Same as usual, I am only responsible for the translation; as for any other arrangements, you organize them on your end, I will not participate."

Professor Zhang let out a sigh of relief and nodded.

A familiar routine!

However, this also made him relax; these were people from the Compilation Bureau.

Moreover, what was being translated were mechanical books, which were not something an ordinary person could translate. The university leadership speculated that one had to be at least a confidential translator to receive such tasks.

"Teacher An, then I will have to trouble you." Professor Zhang pointed to a pile of books and said helplessly.

Several bundles of white paper had already been placed to the side, along with pens and ink, all fully prepared.

Furthermore, this room was equipped with a desk lamp, and desk lamps were luxury items nowadays.

Everything indicated the urgency of this mission.

An Yinan did not stand on ceremony either; she sat directly in the chair, took the textbooks in order, read through the first chapter to understand the general direction, and only then began to write.

Professor Zhang silently poured water for An Yinan, then pulled up a chair and sat to the side.

Every time An Yinan finished translating a sheet of paper, he immediately sent the white paper to another room.

After a whole morning, it was not until An Yinan rubbed her sore neck that she put down her fountain pen, "I'm hungry."

Professor Zhang was astonished; in his heart, Teacher An was capable of anything!

This translation speed, and there were personnel from the Compilation Bureau in the other room to judge the accuracy; upon seeing that familiar handwriting, the Correction Group of the Compilation Bureau looked at Professor Zhang helplessly.

"How did you manage to invite that big shot over?" A single sentence represented An Yinan's position and status within the Compilation Bureau.

Professor Zhang was a shrewd person by nature; how could he not understand?

"The canteen has food kept for us; will Teacher An eat in the office, or go to the canteen?" Professor Zhang asked.

He always kept meal tickets in his pocket, and the school leadership attached great importance to this mission, even granting special permission for the translators to eat at any time.

"Let's go to the canteen; I need to walk, my brain hurts." An Yinan rubbed the space between her eyebrows.

Her current state would affect translation efficiency, so she might as well go out for a stroll to clear her head; the translation efficiency in the afternoon would be faster that way.

"Alright, then let's go to the canteen to eat." Professor Zhang opened the door, and Yun Shu had been guarding outside the whole time.

Seeing An Yinan come out, she spoke directly, "Leader, going to eat?"

"Mm, let's go together." An Yinan nodded.

If An Yinan had not come out after another half hour, Yun Shu would have knocked on the door to remind her; this was what An Yinan had told her in advance.

The three of them walked to the canteen; because of this mission, there would always be someone guarding the canteen.

"Professor Zhang, you finally came; what would you like to eat?" The head chef of the canteen saw Professor Zhang, hurriedly sat up from his stool, and asked.

Professor Zhang first greeted the head chef, then looked at An Yinan, "Teacher An, what would you like to eat?"

An Yinan waved her hand, "Don't go to any trouble, just make some noodles."

To tell the truth, during the mission, she only did it for the sake of satiety; she was not that delicate.

"I want noodles too." Seeing Professor Zhang's look, Yun Shu said.

"Then three bowls of noodles." Professor Zhang looked at the head chef.

The head chef nodded, "You sit and rest for a while; there is ready-made sauce, it will only take ten minutes."

After the head chef finished speaking, he went straight to the back kitchen.

An Yinan, on the contrary, sat straight with her eyes closed; in her mind, she was still recalling the content she had just translated, repeatedly pondering the phrasing and technical terms.

Because she had accepted so many mechanical translation tasks, she knew the technical terminology for mechanics by heart. Now, for mechanical translations, she was the only one in the Compilation Bureau who did them; others had taken the tasks, but the completion quality was too poor and the accuracy too low, leading to double the work.

"The noodles are here." The head chef was very nimble and quickly brought over three bowls of noodles; the noodles were in large portions, enough for even an adult man to eat.

"The sauce is here; add whatever you like." The head chef did not disturb them; he had waited here today just to cook for them, and once they finished eating, he could lock up and go rest for a while.

An Yinan first put some noodles into Yun Shu's bowl before adding the sauce.

Don't let the fact that Yun Shu was a girl fool you; she had a high level of physical activity. Although she had been accompanying her at the Northeast Camp all these years, her training had not decreased at all, which resulted in her having a hearty appetite.

The three of them finished eating quickly, with only Professor Zhang's speed being slightly slower.

"Let's go back." An Yinan made the final decision.

The three returned to the Little Red Building and began a new round of translation. This time An Yinan did not stop, nor did she deliberately calculate the time; the time arrangements had already been told to Yun Shu, and when the time came, Yun Shu would naturally come in to notify her.

It was not until six o'clock in the evening that Yun Shu pushed open the door.

"Leader, the time is up." Yun Shu said.

An Yinan finished the last paragraph, then rubbed her wrists, "Let's go eat."

Professor Zhang finally understood why An Yinan was so successful; she put her heart and soul into everything she did, utilizing all her time to the extreme. If such a person could not succeed, then who could?

"There are many people at the canteen right now; shall I have someone bring it over?" Professor Zhang said.

It was currently mealtime, and there were quite a few people at the canteen. Although they wouldn't have to queue, it would still waste their rest time.

"That works too." An Yinan was indifferent; when in Rome, do as the Romans do. At Qingmu University, she would just listen to Professor Zhang.

Professor Zhang arranged for someone to fetch the food, and An Yinan laid her head on the table to rest her eyes.

The three of them had dinner right there in the office.

An Yinan translated for another three-plus hours, until it was nearly ten o'clock, when Yun Shu came to call them, and only then did An Yinan and Professor Zhang stop.

"I'm leaving first; you've already sent off the translated materials. No need to move the books here; I'll continue translating tomorrow." This time An Yinan did not sort them herself, but translated according to the order set by Qingmu University.

After all, only Qingmu University knew the priorities of the curriculum; as an outsider, she shouldn't be directing the insiders.

"Alright, I'll go with you; I'll lock the door first." Professor Zhang checked that the windows were locked, then locked the door.

He saw An Yinan and Yun Shu off to outside the university gate.

"Leader, you sleep for a while; I'll call you when we get home." Yun Shu said.

An Yinan gave a soft response, then curled up in the back seat and fell asleep.

Translation required confidence and total immersion; she consumed a great deal of mental energy, and her spirit was extremely exhausted. At this moment, lying down, she thought of nothing and slowly drifted into dreamland.

It was not until they reached the Military District Compound that Yun Shu woke An Yinan up.

"We're here? So fast?" An Yinan sat up, then put on her hat and opened the car door.
