Chapter 303: Special Recruitment

~8 min read 1,429 words

Back in the dormitory, the roommates were all there, everyone reading books, not a single person speaking.

"Nan Nan is back?" Jiang Yunduo greeted her happily.

Ever since she found out Xie Yuanyuan and the others called her Nan Nan, this girl insisted on learning it, and An Yinan just let her be.

"Have you eaten? I brought you all something to eat." An Yinan took out the dishes she had packed into lunchboxes earlier.

Today, Qiu Hua had gotten carried away while cooking and made too much, so she had packed lunchboxes in advance before everyone started eating.

The three sisters also knew about the relationship between Nan Nan and her roommates, so they had specifically packed a bit more for her.

"So much?" Zhang Jia looked at the dishes and asked in disbelief.

An Yinan smiled, "Qiu Hua must have anticipated it, so she made a bit more."

"You all sit, I'll go buy Steamed Buns!" Seeing everyone move, Zhang Jia spoke up quickly, then grabbed the money and ration coupons and ran straight out of the dormitory, leaving everyone stunned.

Finally, Zhou Ruo Ran and Liu Er Ya looked at each other and smiled helplessly.

Zhang Jia was trying to consider their face and self-esteem, which was why she had run out.

And the dishes Nan Nan brought back likely also had the intention of helping them out.

"Right, I have something to discuss with you two." An Yinan looked at Zhou Ruo Ran and Liu Er Ya.

"What is it?" Zhou Ruo Ran settled her child; Tiedan hadn't gone hungry these days, and his sleep quality was getting better and better.

"Ahem, my partners and I have decided to open a shop, but we need to build a garment workshop first. I will provide the fabric, but we currently need workers," An Yinan said straightforwardly.

If, in such a predicament, they instead thought first of their own self-esteem and whether she was insulting them, then they would be unworthy of her efforts to pull them up, and she wouldn't care either way.

"I can?" Zhou Ruo Ran widened her eyes and said excitedly.

An Yinan nodded, "I saw the curtains you sewed last time; although they didn't require great skill, I could still see something there. I will conduct unified training, and only those who pass the training can enter the workshop."

"I'll say the ugly things first: I won't relax the recruitment standards just because you are my roommates," An Yinan said jokingly.

But everyone knew that Nan Nan wasn't joking; her conduct and way of handling things had already left a deep impression in the dormitory.

"Okay, I'll go," Zhou Ruo Ran said.

"But I have to bring Tiedan; it might trouble you a bit."

She finally looked at her son on the bed; she couldn't let go of her child.

Even when attending class, she would carry the child on her back, so she wasn't close with her classmates; she always sat in the last row, by the door, and as soon as she felt the little guy move, she would quickly leave the classroom to avoid disturbing the others' studies.

An Yinan smiled and nodded, "Since I came to you, I definitely took that into consideration, so don't worry."

Afterward, she looked at Liu Er Ya, waiting for her decision.

Liu Er Ya's eyes remained fixed on An Yinan, "Nan Nan, you are so amazing. I don't need wages; just providing a meal is enough."

She was in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, and her tasks were heavy on weekdays, so she didn't have much time to spare. Nan Nan was trying to help them, and she couldn't push her luck.

Her parents had said that one must see oneself clearly and know how to be grateful!

An Yinan felt relieved; she was still decent at judging people.

"How wages are calculated isn't up to you to decide; think about passing the assessment first," An Yinan smiled.

Zhou Ruo Ran and Liu Er Ya looked at each other, and everyone smiled.

Jiang Yunduo saw everything, but she kept this matter in her heart.

"I'm back!" Zhang Jia panted, carrying a cloth bag of Steamed Buns.

There were five people in the dormitory in total, and she had bought ten white-flour Steamed Buns, leaving the cafeteria auntie dumbfounded.

"Slow down, why did you run so fast?" Zhou Ruo Ran mixed a cup of warm water for her, took the cloth bag from her hand, and shoved the warm water into her hand.

"I... I was just afraid... that the dishes Nan Nan brought would get cold," Zhang Jia panted, her forehead covered in sweat.

An Yinan took a towel and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

"There was no need to rush; the weather isn't cold, it wouldn't have cooled down for a while."

Zhang Jia smiled embarrassedly.

Everyone sat around the table, and each person was allotted two Steamed Buns.

However, An Yinan didn't take any, "I already ate before coming back, so I won't have a bun. I'll just keep you company and eat some dishes, and I'll drink some warm water."

"Wow, Qiu Hua's cooking is really good; it's so delicious I could swallow my tongue," Jiang Yunduo said.

Jiang Yunduo wasn't a little foodie, but she was good at supporting her friends.

An Yinan smiled, "Next time you should say that to Qiu Hua's face; she would be very happy."

Jiang Yunduo froze, then stopped talking.

Although she knew those three people, she wasn't familiar enough to speak her mind freely.

Certified social anxiety person!

"Stop teasing her; the fact that she can speak like that in the dormitory is already something I thank the heavens for."

"When you aren't back, she can't say two sentences in half a day; it's only in front of you that she seems like a little chatterbox."

"It's as if she saves up her words on weekdays just waiting to say them to you."

Zhang Jia teased.

Recently, having gotten familiar with her roommates, there were fewer inhibitions in their speech, and some small jokes were harmless and could even enhance their mutual affection.

An Yinan looked at the blushing Jiang Yunduo and smiled as she said to Zhang Jia, "Jia Jia, shouldn't you consider your own issues? Why doesn't our little Yun Duo like talking to you?"

Zhang Jia was stunned by the question, then thought about it carefully for a while, only realizing something was off as she pondered, "Hey, we're all in the same dormitory; you guys are like this, I feel so lonely!"

Everyone burst into laughter together.

At this moment, little Tiedan made a few grunting sounds, and everyone covered their mouths, not daring to make any more noise for fear of waking the little guy.

Time was busy; during her school days, An Yinan immersed herself in the ocean of learning, and apart from the classroom and the dormitory, only the library could be where she was found.

Moreover, the types of books she read were varied; not only were there books on Economics, but they also involved Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fashion Design, Architecture, Food Science, and so on.

"Nan Nan, why are you reading so much?" Jiang Yunduo's mouth was open, almost wide enough to fit an egg inside.

"If I'm interested, I'll dabble in it a bit," she replied in a low voice.

Afterwards, she became completely oblivious to the world outside her window, her entire mind captivated by the books.

She was busy every day; when hungry, she would eat a steamed bun and then continue reading.

The first exam after enrollment arrived, and everyone at Beijing University was either reading a book or on their way to read one.

"Everyone, place your books on the podium; you may take them back after the exam. Do not let us see anyone cheating; those who cheat will receive a score of zero immediately," the proctor at the front said expressionlessly.

In every era, there are the same kinds of proctors.

An Yinan thought silently to herself.

The test papers were distributed; An Yinan first looked from beginning to end, read through all the questions, then picked up her pen and began to write rapidly.

Perhaps because they had only been enrolled for a month, the questions set by the teachers were all quite simple, and the exact answers were all in the textbooks; as long as one listened carefully in class and reviewed the material afterwards, getting a high score would not be difficult.
