Chapter 315: Eight Brocades (Part 2)
She had already finished reading her professional textbooks for the next six months during these past few days, and was now conducting a second review; afterwards, she would branch out into other subjects beyond her textbooks.
After the vegetable soup was brought out, Feng Zhong ladled a bowl for the old man, who sniffed it; the flavor was light, with barely a few specks of oil to be seen, and it tasted refreshing and not greasy upon entering the mouth.
"This soup tastes quite good; you can make more of it in the future," the old man said with some pleasant surprise.
The people who used to be in charge of the kitchen would always make various kinds of soups and broths, but he rarely drank much of them.
They were too oily and greasy, and his stomach couldn't handle them; however, he would force himself to drink a little just to get by.
Such a small matter as this was not worth troubling others over.
"Who made this vegetable soup? I haven't tasted this flavor before," the old man said, having already picked up his second bowl.
Seeing the old gentleman in such good spirits and with a good appetite, Feng Zhong felt even more excited.
"It was still made by the kitchen, but the recipe was provided by Comrade An," Feng Zhong did not hide it.
This matter was something the old gentleman would have to know sooner or later.
"Oh? Little An, you know how to cook too?" the old man looked at An Yinan with pleasant surprise.
An Yinan raised her head, "What?"
She had just been reading her textbook and hadn't paid attention to their conversation; besides, she felt extremely secure in this environment.
Seeing An Yinan's bewildered expression, the old man burst into loud laughter.
No one's success comes without a reason.
"Do you know how to cook?" the old man asked again, tirelessly.
An Yinan nodded, "I know a little bit, but my culinary skills aren't very good."
"By the way, this is a recipe for dietary therapy. If there is anything you particularly want to eat in the future, you can tell me, and I will arrange the dietary therapy recipes. It is a good thing if you like to eat and can eat a little more; don't feel like it's a bother," An Yinan said with a smile.
The old man nodded, "Good."
An Yinan looked at the watch on her wrist and then said to Feng Zhong, "Is there a place where we can practice?"
Feng Zhong said, "This way."
The old man and An Yinan walked over together. An Yinan had already performed it once before, but this time she went even slower; in order to teach the old man the postures, she would pause at every movement and explain it slowly so that the old man could remember it.
"Comrade An, can I learn it too?" Feng Zhong asked.
He was afraid that the old gentleman might forget something later, and if two people learned it, they would surely remember more.
An Yinan nodded, "Of course you can. This exercise method strengthens the body and can also nourish and train the spirit; it is very good."
"It's that good? Then I must practice it," Feng Zhong stood beside the two of them.
An Yinan began teaching from one move and one stance at a time, correcting their movements during the process and explaining the significance of each movement and which parts of the body it needed to exercise.
One person teaching and two people learning, just like that, over an hour passed.
The old man's body was relatively weak, and at this moment, his forehead and the tip of his nose were covered in sweat.
"Sir, do you need to rest?" Feng Zhong asked with concern.
The old man waved his hand and looked at An Yinan.
An Yinan also looked at the old man's condition; in fact, the old man's current state was more suitable for persisting.
"Can you keep going?" An Yinan asked.
The old man nodded; he hadn't exercised in a long time, and he spent more time sitting at his desk, having forgotten the days when he climbed snowy mountains and trekked across grasslands.
"It's fine, continue," the old man said.
Feng Zhong felt helpless; both the old man and the young woman said it was fine, so what could he do? He didn't dare to say anything to either of them!
"Then let's continue; there are two more movements, hold on," An Yinan said.
The three of them continued their training, each of them fully focused. An Yinan kept a close eye on the old man's condition, afraid that he would be exhausted on the very first day.
The old man was also learning earnestly; since he had promised to do something, he would naturally see it through.
The three of them were exposed to the bright sun for a full hour and a half; except for An Yinan, the old man and Feng Zhong were drenched in sweat.
"From now on, you must perform one set of the exercises every morning at six o'clock," An Yinan said to the old man.
Six o'clock in the morning is neither cold nor hot.
The Eight Brocades is an aid to improving the old man's mental energy.
Every medicine has its side effects; while medicinal herbs are certainly good, taking too many will also cause a backlash on the body.
But the Eight Brocades will not, especially the Eight Brocades produced by the system.
"Alright, I understand," the old man sighed.
Such a young age, yet she loves to boss people around!
"You must persist," An Yinan said, emphasizing it one last time after seeing the old man's expression.
"Come rain or shine," she added firmly at the end.
The old man pointed at An Yinan, "What? You little comrade, you don't believe what I say?"
An Yinan thought for a moment, "It's hard to say."
After all, there was a precedent.
After taking his pulse for the first time, she had instructed the old man to rest more, but he simply didn't rest and instead wore his body down even further.
Seeing the old gentleman's expression, Feng Zhong tried hard to suppress his laughter, his face already turning a bit red.
The three of them took a walk and returned to the courtyard.
"This is a Health Pill; it is no longer the original formula, but has been adjusted according to your physical condition," An Yinan took out a porcelain bottle, having thought for a long time that it would be best to consolidate his foundation and nourish his vitality.
"Take one pill a day, half an hour before sleep," An Yinan introduced.
Feng Zhong hurriedly reached out to take the small porcelain bottle.
Throughout this morning, he had discovered that the old gentleman's mental state had improved a lot.
Especially after that hour or so of sleep.
"This is the schedule arrangement. I have made quite a few adjustments based on your time, and I need you to follow my schedule," An Yinan said.
The daily work hours are recorded separately, and the sleep times and meal times are all marked.
Furthermore, a nap has been added every day.
More importantly, time for practicing the Eight Brocades has been added in the morning.
"I've been arranged clearly and thoroughly by you, little Comrade." After looking over the schedule, the old man finally handed it to Feng Zhong.
The meaning was obvious: Feng Zhong was to supervise.
Feng Zhong took the schedule and only then saw the time arrangements on it; although it was less than the gentleman's previous work hours, it was not much less.
It was estimated that Comrade An had also taken the gentleman's workload into account; all the time points were exactly within the gentleman's acceptable range.
An Yinan raised her wristwatch, "It is now your work time, and I will stay here without making a sound."
After speaking, she even held up the book in her hand.
She was very quiet when reading; apart from the sound of turning pages, there would be no other noise.
The old man handled his work for an hour, and when it reached noon, after Feng Shu had set out the food, he came to call out, "Sir, it is time for lunch."
The old man put down the work materials in his hands, then raised his head, "Little Feng, did I not cough all morning?"
Every time he coughed, it would last for a long time, so long that he could never finish his work.
Yet this morning, he had done many things; although the work was not finished, he had not coughed.
Feng Zhong smiled and nodded, "That's right, you did not cough at all this morning."
