Chapter 388: I Am Going to the Southern Front
Her whole mind felt hazy; refining medicine was extremely draining, and although she was already accustomed to it, she couldn't handle refining medicine night after night like this.
"Nan Nan, what's wrong with you?"
As soon as An Yinan opened the door, Li Xiue, who was making breakfast, saw her pale face.
Even when she was hospitalized a while ago, her face had never been this pale.
"Is it hurting again? I'll take you to the hospital right now." Li Xiue hurried to change her clothes.
An Yinan held her back, "Xiue, I'm fine, it's just from not sleeping all night yesterday; I'll be fine after some rest."
"Don't lecture me yet, let me finish speaking."
She hurriedly stopped Xiue from speaking; she wasn't actually afraid of Qiu Hua, as Qiu Hua was always harsh in words but soft in heart, and a little acting spoiled would get her through it.
But Xiue didn't get angry easily, and once she did, she really couldn't be coaxed.
"I'm going to the Southern Front, the car is already waiting for me outside."
"The matters at the shop will have to be left to you all again."
"Xiue, wait for me to come back."
The Southern Front, a place currently in the midst of war.
Li Xiue had always thought this matter was very far away, but only when Nan Nan was about to leave did she realize how close it actually was to her.
"Do you have to go?" Li Xiue asked.
An Yinan nodded, "I am a citizen of Huaxia!"
Five words, nothing more.
Yet Li Xiue understood her determination.
"Go then! You have us!" She didn't try to persuade her, knowing she couldn't be swayed.
An Yinan left, carrying a large backpack; what was inside, no one knew.
"Comrade An, shall we depart?"
An Yinan nodded, looking at the street she had walked countless times over the past half year, "Depart."
The car drove away, and Li Xiue came out to watch her leave.
Guo Tiexiong, being pushed by someone, had been waiting at the entrance of the village, watching her go.
"Tiexiong, are you worried about Nan Nan?" Guo Saozi asked.
Guo Tiexiong shook his head, "I am just seeing off someone who is rushing to the battlefield."
An Yinan saw it all, but she didn't have the car stop, nor did she say a single word.
"Report, An Yinan reporting for duty," An Yinan shouted.
And that tall figure turned around, seeing An Yinan, "Return to your unit."
"Yes!" An Yinan heard the familiar voice and saw the familiar person.
Third Brother, Yun Bi!
He was leading the medical team being escorted this time.
"Your list of medicinal ingredients is already prepared and has been sent ahead on another vehicle," Yun Bi said.
An Yinan nodded without speaking.
Team after team boarded the plane; the roar of the engines was constant, making one's ears ache.
And no one had any intention of chatting; they lowered their heads, looking at the ground, wondering what they were thinking.
A long time passed, and An Yinan closed her eyes and fell asleep.
She hadn't slept all night yesterday and had consumed a massive amount of mental energy; today, her whole body felt light as she walked, as if she were stepping on clouds.
Was she worried about going to the Southern Front?
Not worried; she always believed in those soldiers. With them there, how could the Southern monkeys break through the defense line?
"Nan Nan, we need to transfer," Yun Bi woke the deeply sleeping An Yinan.
An Yinan raised her head; at this moment, her eyes had regained their clarity.
"Okay."
The siblings got off the plane.
"Comrades, we will walk out of here and transfer to trucks," Yun Bi announced loudly.
No one spoke; they followed the team and walked forward in order.
An Yinan walked at the very back of the team; she was much better off than the others, having only one backpack, while some of the others carried luggage bags, some carried suitcases—in short, they had everything.
This batch of medical personnel was all mobilized by the hospital and did not belong to the Military District Hospital.
Most of the people from the Military District Hospital had long since been transferred to the Southern Front.
An Yinan sat on the truck, feeling the scorching heat; even the wind blowing past was so stifling that it made it hard to breathe.
Although she was so far from the battlefield, she felt as if she could smell the scent of blood.
"Nan Nan, don't bite your lip!" Yun Bi touched her face with heartache.
She was only twenty-one years old; she should have been pampered and spoiled in the Yun Family!
"Don't bite it anymore, okay?"
Seeing An Yinan's dazed expression, Yun Bi asked gently once more.
Those soldiers saw Yun Bi's soft tone and found it somewhat unbelievable; was this still their iron-faced instructor?
On the training ground, he would beat them until their own parents wouldn't recognize them, yet now he was being so gentle toward a young girl.
An Yinan released her teeth; she had just been doing it unconsciously and hadn't realized what she was doing.
Yun Bi looked at the wound that was bleeding, "Whatever happens, Third Brother is here!"
His words were so light, so faint.
It seemed as if a gust of wind could scatter her.
Yet, he used such a light, airy tone to coax a girl.
He did not know how to coax a younger sister, but he had said that she did not need to change, and that he would let himself accommodate her.
"Third Brother, thank you," An Yinan said in gratitude.
Yun Bi turned to the side and draped his coat over her legs; even though it was very hot now, he was still afraid that Nan Nan might catch a chill on her legs.
"Why say thank you to Third Brother?" Yun Bi said as if it were only natural.
This vehicle only had military personnel, and all the medical staff were in another vehicle, so Yun Bi was not afraid of bringing trouble upon Nan Nan.
Once you sit in a large truck, it is for the whole day.
By the time they arrived at the destination, night had already fallen.
"Welcome, Comrade Doctors; now that you have arrived, our group can finally breathe a sigh of relief." After they arrived, several people came to welcome them.
The entire large tent was bustling with activity.
"Group Leaders, come over and collect your people," the Comrade said, and after he finished speaking, ten people came from behind him.
These ten people were Group Leaders, and each person was responsible for one small group.
"Comrades, please have the doctors stand on one side and the nurses stand on the other," the General Person-in-Charge said, quickly dispersing the people.
This could also allow everyone to integrate as quickly as possible, and there would be no one forming cliques to cause trouble.
Although they had come to the battlefield and everyone was busy struggling for their lives, one could not help but find such people.
"You few, choose quickly," the General Person-in-Charge said.
The battlefield was very large now, and many civilians had already been evacuated, but the casualties among the soldiers were still high; every day there was fighting, and every day there were people getting injured.
"How is there a little girl here? Did she stand in the wrong place?" The Group Leader of Group One was an old doctor whose beard was already gray and white, and his eyes were filled with bloodshot veins, but after seeing An Yinan, he still smiled kindly and joked.
An Yinan, however, shook her head, "No."
The old doctor did not say anything, thinking to himself that she was probably an intern; although her ability might not be great, this patriotic spirit was worthy of admiration.
However, admiration was one thing, but his group had the heaviest workload, and in other circumstances, he would not mind taking her under his wing.
But this was the battlefield; if he chose a useless person to take back, he feared all the doctors would end up suffering along with him.
"Wait!" Just as the old doctor was hesitating.
