Chapter 4: Mother's Background
Chen Laopoz shouted loudly, "The police are bullying people, bullying an old woman like me with no one to rely on. My son-in-law was a martyr, and my daughter even accompanied him to his death. You police are still bullying me, a martyr's family member. Oh Heavens, look at this, these people won't have a good end."
The Chief of the Public Security Bureau had a dark face and was just about to take action.
An Yinan stepped forward and slapped her; the crisp sound echoed throughout the entire courtyard, as if time had frozen, causing everyone's movements to come to a halt.
"Martyr's family member? You deserve to be called that? My mother wasn't even a member of your Chen Family, so what are you using to claim you're a martyr's family?"
An Yinan's words made Chen Laopoz, who had just reacted, pause. Her eyes darted around for a moment, and she let out a howl, "Chen Fang, you bitch, look at the little bitch you raised, hitting your own mother. You won't have a good end; even if you die, you'll go to the Eighteen Levels of Hell."
Looking at Chen Laopoz's expression, An Yinan knew she had guessed correctly.
Even with the preference for boys over girls, Chen Zhaodi and Chen Pandi were also girls, yet they could bully An Xiangbei at will, while the housework was left only to her and Beibei, and they never got a taste of anything good to eat.
This was very wrong; she had boldly probed, and she hadn't expected it to be true.
Her mother was not a daughter of the Chen Family.
Then she had even less burden when it came to taking revenge.
"Cry, cry louder. For as long as you cry, and for as many times as you cry, I will make your grandson cry for just as long and for just as many times." An Yinan's voice was very soft, whispering into Chen Laopoz's ear with a gentle smile on her face.
Chen Laopoz's triangular eyes widened, "You little bitch, you dare!"
An Yinan chuckled, and with a *slap*, she swung another blow.
"If your mouth is dirty, you can wash it with blood."
The people in the courtyard were all watching, and those outside the courtyard wall also opened their eyes wide in shock. How did this An family girl seem possessed by a demon? The corner of Chen Laopoz's mouth was bleeding, and they even saw her spit out a tooth; just how much strength must that have taken?
An Yinan, however, acted as if nothing had happened and walked to Chen Jingui's side. Chen Jingui was the same age as An Xiangbei but was fat and round; the An family's food had all been fed into this little beast's mouth, while little Beibei did nothing but get beaten and work every day. Thinking about it, she really felt unreconciled.
"This little face is raised so fair." As soon as the words fell, Chen Jingui began to howl.
"You beast, you unwanted bastard, you dare hit me? I'll have my grandma beat you to death." Chen Jingui cried, but his words didn't stop.
An Yinan acted as if she hadn't heard him and just smiled at Chen Laotai.
"An Yinan, let Jingui go. If you want to hit someone, hit me. Auntie never hit you, right?" Her good aunt cried with a face full of misery, looking at An Yinan pitifully, as if she had suffered some great grievance.
"It seems you really didn't hit me. Wasn't it you who told Chen Dan to do it? Wasn't it you who told Chen Laotai to do it? Wasn't it you who told your two daughters to do it? You indeed didn't move your hands, but you certainly didn't let others off the hook." An Yinan smiled, not caring much.
With just one punch thrown out, it landed directly on Chen Jingui's stomach. Chen Jingui's already fair face immediately flushed red, and his crying stopped.
"Still not talking? I don't seem to want to know anymore!" An Yinan looked at her uncle and grandmother with a look that was not quite a smile.
She had told Chen Jianhua her guess while in the car and also told him what she was going to do; Chen Jianhua had agreed.
The Chief of the Public Security Bureau had also been notified, and there was even pressure from above.
Everyone seemed to see nothing and let An Yinan do as she pleased.
"My fists are itching." An Yinan kicked out, and the public security personnel who were holding Chen Jingui down were kicked away along with him.
A silence fell. An Yinan rubbed her nose. Well, she hadn't done it on purpose; she hadn't controlled her strength well. Believe it or not.
Chen Jingui landed with a *thud*, and the public security officer took several steps back before standing steady, his face slightly flushed.
He wanted to say that this girl was a Strongman and that he really wasn't a weakling; do you believe him?
"I'll talk!" Chen Dan gritted his teeth, his face dark, staring at An Yinan as if looking at an enemy.
An Yinan did not respond; she pulled Chen Jingui up and patted his head. Chen Jingui looked like a bloody person at this moment.
She didn't care how others saw her. Is it cruel? Didn't the original owner and Beibei live miserably?
How many people reached out to help?
If you haven't suffered another's suffering, don't persuade them to be kind.
"Stop hitting, I'll talk, I'll say everything." Chen Jin closed his eyes.
"Chen Fang was picked up by my dad. She was about eight years old when she was picked up, but she couldn't remember anything from before. My dad picked her up to be my wife."
Chen Jin kept his eyes closed, and the scene from back then seemed to appear in his mind. When Chen Fang was brought home, her forehead was covered in blood, her little face was round, white, and tender, like a doll on a New Year's painting, extremely beautiful. Dad told him this was his wife.
He had been very good to Chen Fang since he was a child, giving her candy behind his parents' backs. When his parents made Chen Fang wash clothes and work, he would also secretly help.
Chen Fang always sweetly called him brother.
But ten years passed, and a man appeared: An Qingguo.
He snatched away his treasure, snatched away his wife.
He sharpened his knife in the middle of the night, wishing he could slaughter him, but his mother stopped him because An Qingguo had given his mother three hundred yuan to buy Chen Fang.
He hated An Qingguo, he hated his mother, and he also hated Chen Fang. They had all wronged him.
An Yinan was not surprised. After hearing this story, she didn't even have a ripple of emotion. Her mother Chen Fang's background was a comfort to the original owner; the original owner had always thought she was a girl, which was why Chen Laotai treated her that way.
An Yinan pulled Chen Jingui up and walked to Chen Laotai's side, "Where is the Pink Bamboo Joint?"
In her mother's memories, there had always been a Pink Bamboo Joint, a translucent pink color. She had asked Chen Laotai for it many times, but Chen Laotai never gave it to her. She had complained about it to Father An, which the original owner had overheard by chance.
With the Chen Family's assets, it was impossible for them to have given her mother a Pink Bamboo Joint; it likely had to do with her mother's background. She didn't want to solve the mystery of her mother's background; she just didn't want her mother's things to be in the Chen Family.
"How do you know? Did Chen Fang tell you?" Chen Laotai had a dark face, looked at her son who was filled with hatred, and then at the half-dead, fainted Chen Jingui, and gritted her teeth, "It's in the second box in my room."
An Yinan threw Chen Jingui to Chen Jianhua, "Uncle Chen, help me watch him."
"Rest assured." Chen Jianhua grabbed Chen Jingui by the back of his neck, as if he were grabbing Chen Laotai's neck.
An Yinan walked into Chen Laotai's room and found the box. A delicate pink bamboo joint was in a cloth bag, and there was over a hundred yuan next to it. She put it all into her space.
"Does my mother have anything else in your hands?" An Yinan confronted Chen Laotai.
"Nothing left."
An Yinan smiled, not quite a smile, and pointed at Chen Jingui's little head. Chen Jingui groaned because of the pain.
"Really, there's nothing left. When your mother came to the Chen Family, other than the blood-stained clothes she wore, she only had the Pink Bamboo Joint on her wrist. There was nothing else." Chen Laotai began to cry.
Chen Jingui was her lifeblood, the incense burner of the old Chen Family.
An Yinan saw that she didn't seem to be faking it and clapped her hands, "I won't disturb the public security comrades in their work."
