Chapter 407: Do you want to cultivate elite soldiers, or do you want to raise canaries!
An Yinan returned to the school, and she really wanted to say, "Long time no see."
The days at the Frontline were nearly three months, yet she felt as though a long time had passed.
"What are you dazing off for?" Zhao Qiuhua draped her arm over An Yinan's shoulder.
Nan Nan didn't know what she had been eating; she was already one meter seventy, and it seemed like she was still growing.
"It's just that it feels both familiar and strange," An Yinan said, laughing to herself before anyone else could.
And wasn't everyone else the same?
In that place filled with the roar of artillery, every day felt like it passed very quickly, yet every second felt very slow.
It was contradictory, but it was also a genuine feeling.
"Let's go!" An Yinan sighed and looked at the people behind her.
Every single person had changed.
The group did not return to their dorms, nor did they go to their classrooms, but went straight to the Principal's office.
They had delayed their school courses and needed the Principal to sign off on the paperwork.
"Reporting!" An Yinan called out.
"Enter!" An Yinan pushed the door open and saw not just one person, but several, some of whom she didn't even recognize.
An Yinan saw Liu Jianguo, and she also saw Professor Feng from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department.
Oh right, she also saw Xie Yuanyuan's Tutor.
Although she had only met them a few times, her memory was still quite good.
"Hello, teachers," An Yinan greeted them.
The people behind her also filed into the office one after another, looking at their respective Tutors and smiling ingratiatingly, "Hello, teachers."
The Principal counted the people; not one was missing, and only then did he heave a sigh of relief.
"I don't know if you all are doing well, but this old man here hasn't been doing very well."
Before the Principal spoke, none of the teachers dared to speak.
Everyone was sizing them up.
"Isn't Professor Feng here? How could you not be doing well? Where is it that you aren't well? Just let Professor Feng give you a few acupuncture needles and you'll be fine," An Yinan raised an eyebrow.
If the Principal had spoken nicely, or even scolded them a bit, she wouldn't have said something like that.
But the Principal had definitely been in contact with Hua Laotou recently.
This flavor of sarcasm was a bit too rich.
"Ahem." Professor Feng had just been keeping a straight face, but now he couldn't help it and hurriedly managed his expression.
Scolding them was absolutely out of the question now.
Besides, this group of children was the pride of their Beijing University.
Although they had been worried sick, their contributions could not be erased.
"Take your own people back, An Yinan stays," the Principal commanded.
The other Tutors led their people away.
Liu Jianguo asked, "I'll go first?"
The Principal replied, "The Monthly Exam papers, have them make them up today; let's see their grades."
If their grades had fallen, it would save them from running around everywhere.
One by one, they had snuck off to the Southern Front behind the school's back; if he didn't keep a tighter leash on them, who knew where they would run off to next?
"Understood," Liu Jianguo nodded; he had already intended to do so.
"You all go back first, she will come to your office in a moment," the Principal ordered.
Liu Jianguo took Jiang Yun Duo back to his office.
"Are you all uninjured?" Liu Jianguo asked.
Jiang Yun Duo shook her head, "No."
"You all..." Liu Jianguo hadn't finished his sentence yet.
Jiang Yun Duo looked at him with a guarded expression, "It's confidential!"
They had undergone confidentiality training; whatever happened in the Southern Front could not be spoken of.
If the situation were exposed, they feared it would cause panic among the masses.
Liu Jianguo's open mouth snapped shut tight.
He was just trying to show concern; was such a big reaction necessary?
Meanwhile, in the Principal's office, An Yinan saw Hua Wensheng.
"How do you have the time to come over?" An Yinan was a bit surprised; although the education system had a brief lull, as a high-ranking bureau chief, he shouldn't have time to wander around, right?
Hua Wensheng huffed and sat down on a stool.
"I was afraid that if I didn't see you this time, I wouldn't be able to see you in the future." Hua Wensheng's familiar sarcasm made An Yinan find it amusing.
"May I sit?" She asked, looking at the Principal.
The Principal poured a cup of water for both of them, "Sit."
An Yinan didn't stand on ceremony; she had been tired lately, especially after returning from the Frontline, and while her whole body had relaxed, she felt a bit physically drained.
"What exactly is the matter? Hurry up and say it, I have an exam to take in a bit!"
An Yinan looked at the two of them, not quite understanding; it would be strange if she didn't do missions.
With missions coming one after another, wasn't that a normal thing?
"I want to ask you about the situation at the Frontline; tell me what you can," Hua Wensheng said.
They had signed confidentiality agreements, and many things could not be spoken of.
An Yinan did not know what riddle the two were speaking in, "Dangerous, busy, and working day and night."
She could not speak of other matters, so she simply described her own feelings.
"I understand," Hua Wensheng nodded solemnly.
An Yinan looked at the two people who were being mysterious, "So, why exactly are you asking? Can you not say?"
The two of them were very serious; it must be a very important matter.
And it had a connection to the Southern Front.
It had a connection to the Education Bureau.
"Stop turning that little brain of yours, take a rest, there is nothing that cannot be said," Hua Wensheng knew she had started overthinking the moment he saw her eyes.
"The Military Department wants to collaborate with universities to carry out volunteer support."
"However, it is too difficult for the country to cultivate these talents, and a massive amount of teaching resources has been invested; if some talents are lost, it would be a loss for the country."
"That is why I came here to wait for you; we have never been to the Southern Front and wanted to hear some of your opinions."
Hua Wensheng had never treated An Yinan as a child, but rather as a friend across generations with whom he could discuss anything.
He was not just here to consult on the situation.
He also wanted to hear her opinion.
An Yinan was puzzled, "The Southern Front is not necessarily the Frontline."
The place where she was located was the Frontline, and it would be no exaggeration to say that lives hung by a thread.
But being a volunteer in a City, or carrying out the transport and distribution of supplies, the danger of these is minimal.
"I have a question," An Yinan looked at the two of them.
She saw the hesitation in the Principal's eyes, and even a rejection of the cooperation.
As for Hua Wensheng, she could not yet tell what his attitude was.
They believed that talent was extremely important, and the loss of every single one was a loss for the country.
But she did not see it that way, or rather, she did not see it entirely that way.
"Stop dawdling, coming to find you is not just to know the situation at the Frontline, but also to hear your opinion," Hua Wensheng said bluntly.
An Yinan looked at him, then asked with a smile.
"Do you want to cultivate elite soldiers, or do you want to raise canaries!"
Talent? If you are willing to spend the capital and willing to teach, you will have it!
Do you want heroes? Overlords? Or cowards!
Heh, then they must be brought out to see.
"Interesting, what do you mean?" Hua Wensheng already had a guess in his heart.
An Yinan thought about how to express her views tactfully.
She thought about it and gave up.
In front of Hua Laotou, she did not need to hide her light.
In front of the Principal, it seemed better to just be herself, so that future interactions would be more straightforward.
