Chapter 468: Extra Chapter (1)

~7 min read 1,399 words

When An Yinan returned to the State-run Restaurant, the lunchtime crowd had already left, and there were only a sparse two or three people eating dinner; the grand sight of people queuing up was no more.

"Little sister!" Liu Yun ran over and looked An Yinan up and down.

Just as An Yinan was about to answer with a smile, she was immediately hit with a direct, critical question: "Are you not planning to have children?"

Sister Liu Yun had gotten pregnant two years ago and given birth to a baby boy.

She had seen it all in the letters.

Although she had delayed her replies, it didn't stop her from knowing everything she should know before they met.

"Waiting until after graduation." An Yinan looked back at Chen Xun, and Chen Xun looked at her and smiled.

Whenever it came to having children, he listened to Nan Nan; he couldn't bear the bitterness of pregnancy for her, nor could he endure the pain of childbirth in her stead.

Even if they just lived their lives as the two of them, that would be quite good too.

At the mere thought of Nan Nan in pain with a deathly pale face, he solidified this idea in his heart: no children!

Nan Nan didn't know yet that just as she had the intention of having a baby, the man behind her already had other plans!

How should one put it? Very unexpected?

"That's fine too, otherwise your studies are heavy, and I heard you opened a shop again; business is busy, so you wouldn't have much time anyway." Liu Yun nodded in understanding.

Because her job was stable, she had dragged it out until now.

Before, she still had her older sister watching over her, and there weren't many people at home keeping an eye on her.

But ever since her sister got pregnant, she herself had been subjected to unprecedented pressure to have children.

By that time, her job was stable and she didn't have to worry about anyone snatching it away easily, so she could set her mind at ease and simply agreed to her family's wishes—if it happens, it happens.

"The noodles are here!" Ershu brought over a basin of noodles, along with several kinds of vegetable toppings.

"Wait, there's more." Ershu then brought over meat-filled buns and steamed buns.

There were also braised hairtail and pork stewed with vermicelli.

There was even a bowl of clear soup wontons.

These were all dishes An Yinan often ordered when she came by in the past.

"Thank you, Ershu." She said in gratitude.

Ershu smiled, "It's rare for someone to like my cooking so much; I'm happy just to have you here!"

"You young people, eat without worry."

Just as he was about to turn and leave, An Yinan hurriedly said, "Ershu, eat with us."

Ershu turned back, "I won't; you young people have things to talk about, and if I sit here, you'll have reservations. Besides, I already ate in the back kitchen just now."

After Ershu finished speaking, he returned to the back kitchen.

An Yinan thought of the times before when she would order one or two hundred buns, and also thought of how she always asked Liu Meijie to save the meat-filled buns.

"Time really flies!" She couldn't help but exclaim.

"You've been gone for how many years now? How could it not be fast?" Liu Yun smiled and said.

An Yinan nodded; it had been quite a few years.

The people were still the same people, and the sentiments were still the same sentiments; nothing had changed, which was truly wonderful.

After eating at the State-run Restaurant, the sound of the door being pushed open came from outside.

"Mommy." Two little children came running over.

Running in front was a little girl with two small braids tied on either side of her head, like little goat horns.

She wore red hair ties with a few small cloth flowers on them, and a pink outfit; she was pink and tender, and extremely cute.

"Sinan, wait for your younger brother." Liu Mei said.

Don't let Sinan's appearance as a little girl fool you; she was very mischievous and always bullied Nianbei.

"Wait, little girl, what is your name?" An Yinan squatted down and looked at Sinan.

Sinan was very cute, with a round little face that was slightly flushed from running, like a bright red little apple.

"Auntie, I know you." Sinan didn't answer the question, but upon seeing An Yinan, her eyes lit up like two stars hanging in the sky, twinkling.

"You know me?" An Yinan pointed at herself.

Sinan nodded her little head, and those two goat-horn braids bobbed, "Auntie Nan, Mommy has a photo that she treasures so much; she won't let anyone see it except for me!"

When she was little, she grew up looking at Auntie Nan's photo.

Mommy said that the reason she was so pretty was largely because when she was in Mommy's tummy, Mommy looked at Auntie Nan's photo every single day!

"Did dead memories suddenly attack me?" An Yinan really didn't know how to describe that black-framed photo.

"A mistake, a mistake." Liu Mei clearly also remembered that time; she had burned the black wooden frame that very day and replaced it with a red wooden frame.

"Auntie~" A childish voice called out, soft and sweet, making An Yinan's heart soften quite a bit.

"Auntie is talking to me; you can talk after I'm done." Like a big sister, Sinan directly made the little boy wait in line; that manner clearly showed he had experienced this many times.

Liu Yun stood to the side laughing, not bothering at all with the two children's bickering.

"My name is Sinan, it means thinking of Auntie Nan."

Her daughter had sold her out just like that; Liu Mei's face flushed slightly. Come to think of it, she hadn't felt there was anything wrong with the name before, but now why did it feel a bit off?

And that look from her brother-in-law, he just glared at her, didn't he?

He did glare at her, right?

An Yinan smiled; Liu Meijie had really carried this out thoroughly from beginning to end!

"Then what is your younger brother's name?" An Yinan had a bad premonition.

"Younger brother is called Nianbei." Sure enough, Sinan answered immediately and readily.

An Yinan looked at Liu Meijie and Liu Yunjie; neither of their expressions were very natural.

"Auntie will pick you both up." An Yinan scooped up both children from the ground, one in each arm.

"Auntie is so amazing!" Sinan's eyes brightened even more; whenever she asked Mommy for a hug, Mommy would say Sinan had grown up and she couldn't carry her anymore.

But Auntie Nan could carry her with one hand, and could even pick up her little brother too.

When she grows up, she must learn from Auntie Nan!

"Sit on Auntie's lap." After An Yinan picked up both children, she smiled at the woman, "Ma'am, you're here."

"Yes!" Liu Meijie's mother was a very honest woman; she also loved these children very much, and every time her gaze swept over them, her eyes held warmth.

"Listen to me explain!" Liu Mei wanted to grab Nan Nan's arm, but discovered that one was occupied by her own daughter, and the other was occupied by her nephew; there was actually no room for her.

"What's wrong?" An Yinan glanced at Liu Meijie, then continued looking at the children in her arms.

Perhaps she wanted a baby of her own now, boy or girl would be fine.

Her mindset when seeing babies now was different from before.

"Do you like girls or boys?" An Yinan looked toward Chen Xun.

Chen Xun frowned and looked at the two children in her arms; although they were very cute, they would make Nan Nan ache, so he thought about it and decided against it.

"Both are fine." As long as it was a child of his and Nan Nan's, both were fine.

An Yinan looked at Chen Xun; why did he seem to have no interest?

Didn't he used to be quite happy when seeing children?

Were these two children not cute?

How could Nan Nan know that a certain man didn't want her to be in pain right now, and was currently struggling with himself!
