Chapter 56: The Punishment for Harming a Martyr's Family
An Yinan quickly hoisted the two people up, "Is it here?"
Wang Chunmei wailed loudly, "Yes, yes."
"Very good." An Yinan once again pressed both their heads back in; aside from the splashing sounds of the two, the surrounding people even forgot to react.
In the end, it was Zhang Zhihe who stood out and roared, "Educated Youth An, do you know what you are doing?"
Just then, footsteps were heard at the entrance of the Educated Youth Courtyard; Xie Yuanyuan ran in front, followed by the Captain, Aunt Li, the family of Xie Er, and many people from the village.
"What am I doing?" An Yinan burst into loud laughter.
Then she pulled the two people out of the water so everyone could see clearly.
Crying? The two had no strength left; they coughed incessantly but could not break free from An Yinan's hands.
"My younger brother is only ten years old, ten years old!" An Yinan's voice was very calm, but her eyes were turning red.
"When he was being beaten, what were you doing? What right do you have to question me?" An Yinan looked at Zhang Zhihe and pressed the two people's heads back into the water once again.
Zhang Zhihe felt somewhat powerless at this moment; they were all people who had come to the countryside, couldn't big issues be turned into small ones, and small ones into nothing?
Why did it have to turn into this?
The look he gave An Yinan became even more unkind.
The Captain saw the look in Zhang Zhihe's eyes, but in his heart, he shook his head at him; it seemed this Educated Youth Station needed a change in management.
"Nan Nan, if there's anything, tell Aunt Li; we can discuss it properly." Aunt Li was a bit anxious, fearing both that this young girl would be impulsive and actually cause a death, and that the Captain would be blamed.
"Yuanyuan, tell us what happened." An Yinan looked toward Xie Yuanyuan.
Xie Yuanyuan recounted the sequence of events, and the villagers were stunned; two single female Educated Youths made a little boy fetch water and wash clothes?
In their hearts, they looked down on these two Educated Youths even more.
An Yinan pulled the two up and looked at their faces, "You two, tell us what happened."
Before Wang Chunmei could speak, Sun Xiaoqin was truly terrified and immediately spilled everything like beans being poured out.
"The sequence of events is clear to everyone now, right? Some people wanted to act as if nothing happened, but the one who was beaten is my younger brother. You want to smooth this over? Don't dream about it." An Yinan scanned the circle, saw everyone's expressions, and understood their psychological states.
"Beat the person who washes clothes? Or should I fetch some bathwater for you?" An Yinan sneered; how dared they?
"Educated Youth An, how do you want to handle this?" the Captain asked.
An Yinan had been waiting for this moment, "How should harming the family of a martyr be handled?"
An Yinan had already let go of Sun Xiaoqin and Wang Chunmei; the two collapsed to the ground, still unable to process it when they heard the words "family of a martyr."
No one spoke, but unexpectedly, an old woman's voice came from behind the villagers, "Report it to the Public Security Bureau; the minimum sentence is ten years, and if it involves a life, you'll be eating a lead bullet."
It was Granny Liu.
Wang Chunmei and Sun Xiaoqin never imagined that just slapping someone once would be so serious.
"Educated Youth An, look, Beibei's face is swollen; why not have them pay for Beibei's medical expenses?" Qian Zhao asked cautiously; primarily because he understood An Yinan—if she had wanted to report to the Public Security Bureau, she likely would have done so long ago. Since Zhang Qian and Xie Yuanyuan were both there, it meant no one had gone to report it, which meant there was another way to resolve it.
"We are all from the Educated Youth Station; you've already made them like this, must you be so unforgiving?" Zhao Jiang said with red eyes, looking at Sun Xiaoqin with heartache.
An Yinan laughed instead, "Educated Youth Qian, look, not everyone is so discerning."
"Zhang Qian, report to the Public Security Bureau." She turned and said to Zhang Qian.
Zhang Qian nodded immediately and lifted his leg to walk out.
When the Captain saw this, he thought, this won't do; their Quanshui Village had been peaceful for these years, and if the Public Security Bureau came, it would no longer be peaceful.
"Wait." The Captain stopped Zhang Qian and then turned to look at An Yinan.
"Educated Youth An, how about having them pay you fifty yuan each?"
Fifty yuan was not a small amount; in the City, a monthly salary was only thirty-something yuan, so this was almost two months' wages.
The Captain had also hardened his heart; if he didn't strictly discipline this Educated Youth Station, their Quanshui Village would fall into chaos.
Zhang Zhihe, however, looked at the Captain in disbelief; wasn't this matter supposed to be discussed with him? Why did the Captain issue the order directly?
"Fifty each? Heh~" An Yinan sneered.
"I go out often, and I'm not at ease leaving Beibei alone in the Educated Youth Station. I want to move out and build a separate courtyard; the money for building the courtyard will be on them!" An Yinan said directly.
Alarming the Public Security Bureau would lead to too many variables, and since it was only a slap, it wasn't as serious as Granny Liu said; it would just be paying medical expenses and receiving a verbal warning.
"An Yinan, don't push your luck." Zhao Jiang glared.
Upon hearing this, Sun Xiaoqin and Wang Chunmei both shook their heads; they did not agree.
But the situation had developed to this point, and it was no longer something they could control; why did they have to be so itchy-handed?
"It's all you, why did you have to make a move? It's all you, you bitch!" Wang Chunmei seemed to have found an outlet, directly pulling Sun Xiaoqin's hair and slapping her face a few times.
Sun Xiaoqin felt intense pain and only then reacted, reaching out to grab Wang Chunmei, but she didn't reach her hair and instead scratched a cut on Wang Chunmei's face; blood instantly seeped out, looking somewhat terrifying.
"Ah, ah, I'll fight you to the death." Wang Chunmei was even more furious; she wasn't good-looking to begin with, and now she was disfigured.
With one hand pulling Sun Xiaoqin's hair, her slaps didn't stop.
Seeing this, everyone had just reacted and wanted to go pull them apart.
Zhao Jiang, living up to expectations, stepped in.
First, he pulled Wang Chunmei's hair, then went straight up and landed two punches; blood flowed down the corner of Wang Chunmei's mouth.
"You hit me?" Wang Chunmei looked at Zhao Jiang in disbelief.
Wang Chunmei's hand pulling Sun Xiaoqin's hair didn't let go; she directly dragged Sun Xiaoqin over and used all her strength to hit Sun Xiaoqin in the face, causing Sun Xiaoqin to faint.
"You hit me once, I hit her three times; come on then!" At this moment, Wang Chunmei's appearance was somewhat crazed.
An Yinan hadn't expected there to be such a show; it was very entertaining!
She clapped her hands, "Very good, but no matter how well you perform, I won't give you money!"
Ruthless! Too ruthless!
"Let's still talk about Beibei's medical expenses; my Beibei still needs to go to the hospital." An Yinan frowned, too lazy to look at this mess, and urged everyone to resolve it quickly.
The Captain looked at Sun Xiaoqin and Wang Chunmei, then looked at Zhang Zhihe with disappointment; was this the Educated Youth Station he had been managing?
How did he think this person was steady back then? Isn't this just a slap to his own old face?
