Chapter 783: I Agree
"Then drink it when you're hungry. Women should drink more soups and broths to nourish their bodies." Lao Weiya rambled on for a bit, simply refusing to get to the point.
Afraid, indeed!
He was getting on in years and couldn't handle a scare.
"I agree." However... An Yinan said directly.
The soup spoon in Lao Weiya's hand dropped. He looked up at An Yinan in disbelief, "You agree? Agree to drink the soup, or to take over the Base?"
"She agreed to take over the Base!"
Aila really couldn't stand it anymore. He had practically become a stoker these past few days; Lao Weiya stewed soup every day, and he had to tend the fire every day. And the fire couldn't be too big—it had to be a slow, gentle simmer!
Good heavens, how much longer would days like this have to last?
"You speak!" Lao Weiya glared at Aila and looked at An Yinan instead.
An Yinan nodded, "He is right. I agree to take over the Base."
"But I'll say the ugly things first: I require absolute authority. I will find a way to eliminate any dissenting voices."
This was her bottom line. If everyone had their own agendas, then she didn't want this trouble either.
"Rest assured, we all support you taking over," Aila said.
If they didn't support her, she would have been scared off by them long ago. How could they have let her sleep every day while they stewed soup?
"I will leave the Base, don't worry. The Base will only have your voice. Everything hereafter will be decided by your standards." Lao Weiya smiled. Although he had already had this thought for a long time, he still felt a bit uneasy when he actually said it out loud.
"That won't be necessary," An Yinan immediately shook her head and sat down to the side.
"We only need one voice. After all, this is your home. If you leave, the home will fall apart." An Yinan smiled. No one knew better than her just how intense an orphan's reliance could be.
These people were all alone. They were family to one another. Every single one of them had a drifting heart; they had finally reached the shore, but now the big ship was about to leave. How could they bear it?
Siweike walked to the doorway. Hearing An Yinan's words, the corners of his mouth lifted, but he said nothing.
"The Angel side sent over the ledgers yesterday. We have already contacted the Huaxia side, but I don't know what your intentions are, so you will have to contact them yourself."
"The Demon side is more complicated. It will still take time to get things sorted out."
"These are the lists of our personnel, as well as the people in various locations." Siweike handed over the documents. There were five file folders in total, each clearly labeled by category, which was quite convenient.
"I'll look at them later; my brain isn't working well right now." An Yinan waved her hand and set the things Siweike had handed her to the side.
"Pull up a stool and sit over here. I'll take your Pulse Reading." She pointed to a stool nearby and spoke to Siweike.
Siweike smiled. He was always alternating between hot and cold, and his complexion had a sickly pallor. "No rush. There is still half a year until the next time."
"I'll assess the situation first. I will need a lot of Chinese medicine. Once I return to Huaxia, I will refine the medicine for you as soon as possible."
After she finished speaking, she reached out her hand. Seeing there was no way to avoid it, Siweike could only helplessly pull a stool over.
Once An Yinan's hand rested on his wrist pulse, her brows furrowed slightly. She had anticipated his condition, but she hadn't expected it to be this severe. What kind of person could endure such cold, day after day, for years on end?
His arm had no warmth at all. If not for the beating pulse, she would have thought he was a dead man!
"How long have you been poisoned? At least seven years?"
Seven years ago, how old was he?
Siweike smiled, "Eight years."
Eight years!
"It was because of me. There was a mission that was supposed to be mine, but it was highly dangerous. He secretly went in my place, fell into an ambush, and was struck by the Cold Poison." Lao Weiya sighed. Later, he and Changsheng worked together to save Siweike, who had been afflicted by the Cold Poison.
"To detoxify, I must utilize a Volcanic Spring. The medicinal herbs are somewhat difficult to find." An Yinan pondered for a moment, then wrote out a list and handed it to Siweike.
"Have Angel and Demon search for these on all their routes. If they find them, call me immediately."
"I will figure out a way for the other supplementary herbs. Once the Small Silver Pill is refined, I will contact you to go to the Volcanic Spring."
"However..."
"Before that, you must exercise your body well, otherwise you won't be able to withstand the alternating heat and cold. Keep the Health Pill; take two every day. This is a six-month supply." An Yinan handed a translucent white porcelain bottle directly to Siweike.
Siweike did not hesitate. He opened the bottle and threw two pills into his mouth. The Small Silver Pill melted upon contact. At first, he felt nothing, but as time passed bit by bit, he suddenly seemed to feel that his body wasn't hurting quite as much.
But upon closer inspection, the pain was still there, though it seemed to have lessened slightly.
For someone who had been in pain every day for these past eight years, even this slight reduction made him feel a sense of relief.
"Drink the soup." Lao Weiya's soup was finally done; it had been simmering on a low fire for half the day.
An Yinan took a sip. I must say, the taste was actually quite good. Who would have thought the Gun King Weiya had this skill!
"How is the taste?" Lao Weiya asked with a chuckle while wiping his hands with a white towel.
"Delicious."
An Yinan even gave a thumbs-up.
While things were harmonious here, on the other side, Changsheng and Chen Xun had already been sparring for half an hour.
Neither held back. The two were focused intently on the fight; the sound of fists cutting through the air, the collision of arms, and the impact of legs rang out in waves.
"My hand is numb..." Changsheng said.
This kid opposite him had good skills; one look and you could tell he had trained with great effort, otherwise his foundation wouldn't be so steady.
"My leg hurts." Chen Xun also sat on the ground, rubbing his lower leg. Changsheng hadn't shown any mercy at all.
The two men didn't speak, just sat there for a while, then stood up together, as if they had agreed upon it.
"Again!"
"Come!"
They sparred for over eight hours every day. The two were evenly matched, and the more they fought, the faster they improved.
It was as if they were addicted; if they didn't fight one day, they felt uncomfortable!
"I'm back."
Hearing the sound of the door, An Yinan immediately looked up and saw Chen Xun, who was covered in sweat.
"Yeah, wifey, I'm going to go wash up first." He was covered in stinky sweat, and his wife was a clean person; he didn't want to stink her up.
"Wife, you agreed?" Chen Xun asked.
In fact, he had already guessed it in his heart, but his wife had not said it directly.
"I agreed." An Yinan looked up from the documents, looking at the man covered in cold air; he must have just taken a cold shower.
"From now on, it can be considered a backing."
She thought about it more; if it were before, her abilities and strength had not been so exposed to others, so she could have ignored these things, but now she was too conspicuous, especially since she had provoked some people, so she had to consider the future.
"That is also good."
Chen Xun nodded, then poured her a glass of water and set it to the side.
