Chapter 803: The Naughty Kids Get Into a Fight

~7 min read 1,287 words

"Hmm... it really is a bit small." An Yinan nodded. Not even two years old yet, and going to the military? That was a bit of a joke, wasn't it?

Liu Xicai fell silent for a moment and did not continue the topic.

Nan Nan still didn't know that the two little ones in her family had more schemes in their hearts than a honeycomb briquette; she would have to experience it slowly for herself in the future.

"Is this my Nan Nan?" Grandmother walked back in from outside, then saw An Yinan and walked over with a face full of smiles. "Finished with your work? Are you tired from the business trip? You've gotten darker and thinner."

The old woman was getting on in years, so they didn't dare tell her the truth and had always said that Nan Nan was away on a business trip, a business trip to the Southern Front, and that the project there wasn't finished yet.

"Grandmother, I'm not tired." An Yinan leaned in close to the old woman and helped her to the sofa. Looking at the old woman's graying hair and her withered palms, her heart was filled with a thousand thoughts.

"Don't work so hard; rest when you should," Grandmother patted her hand and said with a chuckle.

Grandmother's eyes...

An Yinan suddenly looked up at Big Aunt. "What's wrong with Grandmother's eyes?"

Big Aunt smiled. "We've been to the hospital. She's getting older, and her vision is blurry. It's a normal phenomenon."

Grandmother also nodded. "This is all normal, Nan Nan, don't worry."

An Yinan used her X-ray Vision to take a look. Grandmother was very healthy, with no underlying conditions; it was indeed because of her age, a normal phenomenon.

But this kind of situation was also the one she was most helpless about; she was at her wit's end.

"It's fine. Grandmother is old. Seeing that you are all healthy and safe, Grandmother is at ease." Grandmother patted An Yinan's hand with a chuckle, her face full of love.

"Great-Aunt, I'm thirsty. Great-Aunt, Xiaobao is thirsty."

Just at this moment, a little girl ran in in a rush. Before she had even entered the room, her voice had already carried inside.

"That's Xiaobao back." Grandmother immediately sat up straight and looked toward the doorway. Although her vision was blurry, she could still see clearly.

"Come over and drink some water."

Hearing Xiaobao's words, Liu Xicai hurriedly brought over two glasses of water, handing one to Xiaobao and one to Dabao. "After you finish drinking, go wash your hands clean. We'll be eating in a little while."

"Where did you two go again? Why is there mud all over your clothes?" The weather outside was brighter, and the room was darker. Because of the light, they hadn't seen clearly just now, but now they could see clearly: both children looked as if they had been rolling in the mud.

They left the house clean and neat this morning, and it wasn't even noon yet; how did they end up like mud children?

"Went to fight."

Dabao spoke very little; most of the talking was done by Xiaobao.

The way she raised her arm made An Yinan narrow her eyes. She seemed to understand a little why Big Uncle had sent them to the military for training.

"Fight?"

"Who did you fight with again? And why?" Liu Xicai asked while looking the children over to see if there were any injuries.

Xiaobao and Dabao were already used to it and didn't look toward the corner of the sofa. An Yinan and Grandmother hadn't made any sound, so the two children didn't know that anyone had returned home.

Xiaobao said vividly, "It was that Li Xiaopang. He said I didn't have a mommy or daddy, said we were bastards and wild children, said our mommy and daddy didn't want us anymore, said we were mongrels."

"I definitely wasn't going to take that, so I went up and beat him."

"But I'm a little girl, soft and weak, a girl wearing a little dress. It's normal that I couldn't beat him."

An Yinan had been feeling heartbroken just a moment ago, but hearing this sentence, she suddenly felt that her daughter's bandit logic needed a little straightening out...

"Later I called for Brother, and then Brother hit him."

"Great-Aunt, he's so bad. He's so big, and he still fights."

"He's already five years old, and he still couldn't beat Brother!"

"Great-Aunt, is Li Xiaopang super useless?"

With that sweet little voice, not caring whether she was dirty or not, she rubbed up against Liu Xicai, wrapped her arms around Liu Xicai's neck, and started acting like a spoiled child.

She had to act spoiled; they had fought, and they were going to get a beating!

Wuwuwu~ Life is hard.

"An Yinan!" Liu Xicai looked at the mud all over herself, unable to bear it any longer, and immediately shouted.

But at this shout, Dabao immediately reacted. Seeing the gaze of his Great-Aunt, he hurriedly looked over.

"Mommy!" The calm little boy's eyes immediately lit up.

An Yinan also walked over with long strides. Because she had just returned from the Military District awards ceremony, there was a chorus of praise over there.

But returning home and looking at the two little ones, she couldn't help but scratch her head.

"Dabao, Xiaobao." An Yinan squatted down, looking her two children in the eye. Looking at them, her heart softened into a puddle.

"Why did you fight?" She asked Dabao gently.

Xiaobao's mouth, a lying little devil—who knows who she inherited that gene from!

Dabao wanted to hug his mommy, but he was covered in mud, so he didn't move. "Li Xiaopang said we didn't have a mommy or daddy, said we were wild children."

"He also said we were beggar children, and that it was only because Great-Aunt was kind-hearted that she adopted us."

"Little sister couldn't take it, so she started it. Don't blame little sister."

Dabao hurriedly explained. He didn't want Mommy to misunderstand. At his young age, his eyes were full of longing.

They had a mommy. Great-Uncle had said that their mommy and daddy were heroes, heroes of Huaxia, and no one could smear them, especially not Li Xiaopang.

"So that's how it is!" An Yinan smiled gently and nodded.

"Mommy, did we do something wrong?"

Dabao looked at his mommy's smile, unable to analyze the emotions within it, so he asked.

An Yinan shook her head. "How old is Li Xiaopang?"

"Almost five." Before Dabao could speak, Xiaobao hurriedly spoke up.

She looked quite pleased with herself.

"Oh, almost five. You two aren't even two years old yet. If you run into someone who is strong and knows how to fight, you won't be able to beat them, and you'll get hurt and be in danger."

"If you get hurt, Mommy and Daddy will be heartbroken."

An Yinan did not judge whether the children were right or wrong, but instead explained the situation to them bit by bit.

"But... he was calling people names!" Xiaobao was somewhat unconvinced, the little girl pouted, looking as if she refused to admit defeat.

Dabao, however, was deep in thought, and then asked, "Mom, then what should we do?"

An Yinan smiled and ruffled Dabao's hair, "Mom and Dad love you, especially much, but the country is in trouble, and Mom and Dad have to go complete a mission, which is why we cannot stay by your side."

"These things, I believe Great-Aunt, Great-Uncle, Grandma, and Great-Grandpa have all told you about, right?"

Hearing their mother's words, the two children nodded one after the other, "Yes, they told us."
