Chapter 21: Peach Blossom Eyes

~7 min read 1,327 words

Heard Shu Lingchen say that.

Shu Shu thought, if the fund hadn't lost you, this life would be almost like drinking northwest wind.

"Give me your meal card, I'll top it up." Shu Shu reached out: "Breakfast and dinner you can handle at home, this way you won't have to drink northwest wind."

Shu Lingchen lifted his head, face full of emotion: "Thanks, Mom!"

Finally, he still couldn't give up asking: "Mom, this fund won't stay green forever, will it…"

Shu Shu could only regretfully tell him: "You'd better be mentally prepared."

With her around, don't even think about the fund turning profitable again.

:)

Shu Lingchen drooped, sighed, and muttered to himself: "I originally wanted to get Chu Chu a new wardrobe, but now I can't."

Shu Shu smiled, patted his shoulder: "It's fine, son; believe Chu Chu won't blame you—she's not that materialistic girl, how could she get angry over such a small thing?"

Shu Lingchen wholeheartedly agreed with Shu Shu's latter remark, proudly lifting his chin: "That's right."

Recently, a new dessert shop opened near San Zhong.

The exquisite pastries and décor, like a flower shop, attracted many food influencers to come for a visit and check‑in.

Shu Shu accidentally came across a shop‑visit post on some publication and felt a craving.

She couldn't resist food, so as soon as school ended she dragged Shu Lingchen along to try it.

After entering the shop and finding a seat, Shu Shu ordered a lot.

Delicate, tasty pastries were placed on beautiful porcelain plates and set on a small round table covered with a lace tablecloth—truly a visual feast.

Shu Shu immediately pulled out her phone to take a photo.

Shu Lingchen stood by as a go‑fer, and each time Shu Shu finished shooting a dish he would take it away.

They kept shooting for a good ten‑plus minutes.

Watching his mother, who never tires of this, Shu Lingchen recalled that his mother had always been like this—always taking a photo before eating.

A Chinese woman who must churn out content her whole life!

They kept shooting, shooting.

The wind chime hanging on the wooden door of the dessert shop rang, signalling a new customer.

"Hello, may I have a piece of strawberry yogurt mousse?"

A soft, gentle female voice whispered.

The waiter apologized: "Sorry, the last strawberry yogurt mousse was just bought."

Shu Shu lowered her phone, her gaze falling on the strawberry yogurt mousse before her; she looked up and saw a plump figure standing outside the display window.

It was a female student.

Although the weather wasn't cool, she wore extremely loose long sleeves and pants, her hair loose, a white mask covering her face, her whole body wrapped tightly—only her eyes were visible.

Hearing the waiter say it was sold out, even from a distance one could feel her disappointment; she seemed to have come especially for that dessert, yet she didn't get it.

Shu Shu felt a thought move, then raised her hand.

"The last strawberry yogurt mousse is here!"

The waiter and the girl both looked over.

Shu Shu said to the girl: "Um, little classmate, I haven't touched the mousse—I just took a photo of it; if you don't mind, you can have it."

The girl's gaze fell on the mousse, her eyes faintly shining.

"Real, really?"

"Of course."

Shu Shu asked the waiter to pack the mousse, then tapped Shu Lingchen's shoulder and instructed: "Take it to her."

"Oh."

Shu Lingchen held the small paper box, his tall figure stopping before the girl, and he thrust it out bluntly: "Here."

The girl didn't take it; she instinctively stepped back two steps, lowered her head, and nervously clenched the strap of her canvas bag.

"……"

"Hey, take it."

Shu Lingchen puzzled, stepped forward another step.

The girl immediately stepped back another step, looking very nervous and scared.

Shu Lingchen was full of question marks.

Not far away, Shu Shu watched, inwardly disdaining her son for being such a blunt guy, failing to notice the girl obviously disliked getting too close to people.

In today's terms, that would be severe social anxiety.

Especially since she appeared like a delinquent slacker with a cocky attitude.

Shu Shu couldn't bear to watch, so she walked over, took the mousse from Shu Lingchen's hand, placed it on a nearby table, and said softly:

"Little classmate, don't be scared—he just looks ugly but isn't a bad person; I've left the mousse here for you."

Beside, Shu Lingchen: ……

A gentle, pleasant female voice reached her ears; the girl lifted her head, as if surprised that Shu Shu had noticed her discomfort and was willing to accommodate her, her eyes grateful, a soft, sweet voice muffled from within her mask:

"Thank you, how much? I'll transfer you the money."

Shu Shu locked eyes with her.

Under her mask the girl's face was chubby, the exposed skin flawless and white, and she had a pair of signature peach‑blossom eyes.

What a cute girl.

As Shu Shu looked at the girl, the girl also took in Shu Shu's face, she blinked, then lowered her head again, fingers gripping the strap—but this time not from nervousness.

More like, she was shy.

Her mind was full of it, the older sister in front of her was very pretty.

Shu Shu waved her hand: "No need, let me treat you."

After saying that, she returned to her own seat.

Pei Muyin again furtively glanced at Shu Shu's back, holding the mousse box, in a good mood preparing to leave the dessert shop; she pushed the door and walked out, just as several people walked in toward her, and as they brushed past, one of them muttered:

"Seriously, you're already so fat and still eating dessert, really blocking the way."

Instantly, her chubby fingers gripping the box tightened, a shadow fell across her forehead, and the good mood she had just a moment ago vanished completely.

Zhang Lu turned her head, looking at the girl hurrying outside the shop, her eyes disparaging: "That figure, you must weigh over 180 catties."

"Oh my god, Xiao Lian, there are two of you."

"Lu Lu, don't say that."

Chu Lian glanced at Zhang Lu, verbally disagreeing but her face showed little disagreement.

The group just stood there at the doorway, openly scrutinizing the plump girl with their gazes; then the next second, they saw the girl get into a jet-black car with a little golden figurine on the front.

"A luxury car."

"And it still has a Jing Shi license plate."

Chu Lian's gaze paused, also recognizing it as a luxury car.

Obviously, they hadn't expected that the girl they were casually discussing would have such a wealthy background.

"What's the big deal, it's just a Rolls-Royce." Zhang Lu said in a not-so-small tone, smiling at Chu Lian: "Xiao Lian's dad also has a Rolls-Royce; he even showed me photos before."

The few girls nearby, hearing that, instantly looked at Chu Lian with admiring eyes: "Wow."

Chu Lian's eyes flickered, she changed the subject: "Let's find a seat."

The group, while talking, sat down in the dessert shop; just as they sat down, someone couldn't help but sigh.

"This dessert shop is really big and beautiful."

"No wonder that blogger with five million followers came here to check it out."

"... The prices are also lovely." One of the girls saw the menu and instantly gasped: "A small piece of cake costs 115."

As the words fell, the atmosphere hushed slightly.

Actually, they had known about this internet-famous shop for a while, but being students, they couldn't afford it.

"Classmate Chu Lian, are you really going to treat us? Won't that be too extravagant?"

Chu Lian pursed her lips modestly: "I think these desserts are quite cheap; just order what you want."

Anyway, she can afford it.

Counting the days.

Shu Lingchen's monthly living allowance of fifty thousand for the new month should have arrived.
