Chapter 1120: Ancient Reenactment
A tower ship thousands of zhang long drifted with the wind on the sea.
Hundreds of girls, smiling beautifully and dressed in fine garments, played on the tower ship; over a hundred extremely long fishing rods hung from the ship's sides, with hooked large fish struggling, continually eliciting the girls' startled cries and laughter.
At the top deck of the tower ship's highest level, Wu Tie wore a knee‑length pair of big shorts, lazily lying on a recliner basking in the sun.
Wave after wave of visible Dao Rhyme, fully condensed into substance, spiritedly swirled and danced around him. From time to time, divine patterns and sigils within the Dao Rhyme would undergo wondrous twisting transformations.
Pei Feng, Bai Ying, and Zhu Zi sat quietly beside Wu Tie, immersed in the Dao Rhyme field he emanated.
They had left Martial Capital and been traveling abroad for over four hundred years; in those four hundred years, with Wu Tie's all‑out help, Pei Feng and the two others had smoothly broken through the Dao Fusion realm, entered a higher level of Dao Fusion, performing twists and changes on the Great Dao, which the ancient mythic era called the Saint realm.
This level, among the gods, is called the Ancient God.
When Wu Tie split the heavenly canopy, receiving heaven and earth's blessing, he had already been the peak perfection of the Saint realm nearly a thousand years ago.
Among the three women, Pei Feng's aptitude was slightly inferior, Zhu Zi too fond of play, so with Wu Tie's help they were only at the middle stage of the Saint realm. Only Bai Ying had the best aptitude and finest disposition; her cultivation steadily reached the high stage of the Saint realm, just a notch below Wu Tie.
In just a few hundred years, achieving such cultivation was due not only to Wu Tie's unstinting support but also because the three women possessed vast merit blessings; once they cultivated, heaven and earth resonated, making everything favorable, hence today's accomplishment.
"It's still not enough," Wu Tie sighed deeply in his heart, eyes closed, basking in the sun.
Above the Saint realm lies a great state called the Primordial Saint in ancient myth; its essence is to destroy the Great Dao that already exists between heaven and earth.
Those who can extinguish the Dao are the Primordial; with a single thought they can remake the heavens, earth, and universe into chaos, reforging earth, water, fire, and wind, letting all things be utterly annihilated. Such power, even just imagining it with Wu Tie's present strength, makes his whole body tremble.
And the so‑called Immortal lies above the Primordial.
"Still not enough……" Wu Tie helplessly opened his eyes, gazing up at the scorching sun hanging high. The sunlight was extremely fierce, yet in Wu Tie's eyes it felt warm, moist, and refreshing, not at all glaring.
When the gods descend again, there will be three Immortals holding the line.
Even if those Immortals were gravely wounded in antiquity and have not yet healed, their mere ability to easily shatter the terrifying power of the Great Dao means that no one on Mu Dalu can resist them.
Unless Wu Tie takes that step.
The void in all four directions lightly trembled, as clear streams of heaven‑earth will continually surged forth.
If Wu Tie is willing to take that step, then heaven‑earth will's support and the infusion of immense heavenly‑earthly power will let him instantly reach an inconceivable level.
But……
Wu Tie reached out and patted the haphazardly tied bun on Zhu Zi's head, silently telling himself, "Take it easy, take it easy."
"Martial King, what a refined pastime." An extraordinarily deep voice sounded from afar, its tone full of domineering and majestic aura, turning the sea within a million li into a perfectly flat expanse, not a ripple remaining.
On the tower ship, the hundreds of girls instantly formed an array, and beams of murderous sword light shot up into the sky.
These girls looked young, yet they all possessed cultivation at the Venerable Peak or higher; the twelve leading girls had even reached the Quasi‑Saint level of the Dao Fusion realm.
Even if they had just stepped into the Dao Fusion realm, this would still be astonishing.
A thousand years ago, human Venerables were few, and there was not a single Quasi‑Saint of the Dao Fusion tier; yet now, among Wu Tie's attendant girls, twelve have suddenly appeared!
"I am not the Martial King; I am the Martial King's father… If you're looking for the Martial King, you've come to the wrong place!" Wu Tie lazily rose, strolled leisurely to the rail, and gazed off into the distance.
Over there stood a figure six zhang tall, its whole body bluish‑brown skin, beneath which countless dense witch‑patterns coiled; its face was domineering and stern, with two extremely long curved buffalo horns on its head, and on those horns stood a sturdy man one zhang eight chi long, steadily planted in mid‑air, staring this way.
"The Martial King jests; you are the one and only Wu King." Another voice, dignified yet graceful, came forth.
Clad in an earth‑yellow robe, sword at his waist, bearing an imposing presence, sixteen zhang tall, with images of rising stars shimmering around him, a youth strode forward from the far‑horizon skies. While speaking, though still a million li away, he had already arrived before Wu Tie in a light, breezy manner before finishing his sentence.
Wu Tie yawned.
He glanced at the imposing youth, then at the domineering burly man, and shook his head: "So only you two families remain?"
The horn‑bearing domineering burly man declared arrogantly: "I am the present chieftain of the Jiuli Tribe; this generation's Chiyou is me!"
The imposing youth bowed his fists to Wu Tie and said, neither humble nor arrogant: "I am Ji Hongde of the Youxiong Tribe; I have paid my respects to His Majesty the Martial King."
Wu Tie slapped his forehead and sighed: "Looks like it's you two families winning again? How boring—back then it was you two who shattered heaven and earth, and now it's you again? Can't we have two other families take the helm?"
Chiyou laughed arrogantly: "But, Martial King, because my Jiuli Tribe is the strongest!"
Ji Hongde smiled: "Your Majesty the Martial King, the Ji lineage of the Youxiong Tribe is indeed the orthodox human imperial line; today's outcome is therefore fitting……"
Wu Tie looked at Chiyou and Ji Hongde, then sighed: "All right, there are some things I should have said to you a thousand years ago."
Shaking his head, Wu Tie said calmly: "Originally, I could have mediated your war. I never told my own child, Da Shan, the truth about this…… I had the ability to mediate your war, but I did not."
"I watched you fight it out, heads bloodied."
"Why? Because Old Tie told me that humanity is a strange race; the more they war, the more thoroughly their potential is uncovered, and war greatly promotes human civilization's development, making humanity strong in every aspect."
"As long as they don't exterminate their own kind, after the war humanity will be far, far, far stronger than before."
"So I sat back and let you fight for all those years…… Back then I feared corrupting my own child, so I didn't tell him the truth. But now they've grown into adults; hearing it makes no difference."
"Heh, you've fought all those years; because I didn't mediate, how many of your kin have died or been wounded?"
Wu Tie shook his head and sighed: "However, I hope that among you, after all those years of war, there are enough capable people."
Wu Tie pointed at the bewildered Chiyou, then at the contemplative Ji Hongde, and said in a deep voice: "Go check the old almanac—nearly a thousand years ago, on what date did you exterminate the entire Gongsun Gongjun family?"
"Counting from that day, about a thousand years later, the three great Immortal supremes of extraterrestrial demons will arrive, bringing their main demonic forces, to descend once more."
Wu Tie stood with his hands behind his back, looking at the startled Ji Hongde and Chiyou, and asked: "You, are you ready?"
