Chapter 829: Blood Prison Army Consolidation (1)
Fire Dynasty, western side.
On Blood Prison Mountain, still clear waters and beautiful scenery; at the foot of Blood Prison Mountain, still mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
Killing intent rose, blood mist spread, countless big and small castles were picturesquely scattered among the desolate mountains and evil waters; innumerable strangely shaped monsters, wearing chaotic armor, brandished various weapons, shouting and roaring inside the castles.
Suddenly a sharp birdcall rang out; inside a castle spanning a dozen li, a golden flower great sparrow with a wingspan of thousands of zhang shot up into the sky, chirping shrilly as it circled once in the air, then dove down toward a neighboring castle.
In the midst of the tragic howls of "ang, ang", a huge wild boar nearly a hundred zhang long, fat and strong, covered in black hair, was snatched from that castle by the golden flower great sparrow, writhing and struggling like a tiny caterpillar, being lifted high into the air by the bird.
"Damn it!" an angry roar came from the castle where that wild boar was.
A burly man about ten zhang tall, with a pig's head and human body, fat and strong, his body pitch black, yet wearing a set of brilliant red shining armor, draped with a lake-green great cloak, his waist tied with a bright yellow silk sash, his feet in sea-blue boots, his head wrapped in an onion-green headscarf, his whole body a riot of bright colors, leapt into the air.
This pig-headed strongman stepped on flowing clouds, wielding a long-handled melon-head hammer, gnashing his teeth as he chased after the golden flower great sparrow.
The golden flower great sparrow laughed shrilly "ji ga", suddenly flicked its tail, a burst of bird droppings poured down like a waterfall "huala la", drenching the pig-headed strongman head to toe, nearly knocking him from the sky.
The sparrow's wingspan of thousands of zhang and huge body made that burst of droppings fall like a small mountain; moreover, he deliberately infused it with demonic power, the pig-headed strongman was smashed into a sorry state, the droppings hitting the ground shook the earth and mountains, actually smashing a thousand-zhang-high mountain until half of it collapsed.
"Sparrow Old Nine, I'll fuck your mother!" the pig-headed strongman, having suffered a loss, gritted his teeth and continued the frantic chase.
But his body was bulky and his escape technique crude; his flight speed could not catch up to the golden flower great sparrow. After running about a quarter hour, he still couldn't catch the bird, so he could only pant and return to his own castle, standing on the ramparts jumping and cursing.
The golden flower great sparrow perched on a towering tree on Blood Prison Mountain, clamped one claw onto the wild boar, and tore at it with big mouthfuls; in just a few bites it had devoured the boar clean, even swallowing its hair whole.
The pig-headed strongman jumped and cursed in the distance, while the sparrow gave a disdainful "ji ga" cheer; its call was melodious and pleasant, even carrying a hint of singing.
The pig-headed strongman, further enraged, grabbed his great hammer and roared, then charged toward the castle where the golden flower great sparrow was.
Behind the pig-headed strongman, a crowd of humanoid or still quadrupedal boar demons surged forth, kicking up rolling demonic clouds as they rushed two hundred li toward the sparrow's castle.
Inside the sparrow's castle, large numbers of bird‑headed strongmen, or bird demons still in sparrow form, shouted "ji ga", standing on the walls they grabbed huge boulders and hurled them outward in a wild barrage.
The boulders fell, rolling the boar demons all over the ground.
The boar demons also heaped up small mounds of earth and flung them at the walls, shaking the fortifications with a thunderous rumble.
After a chaotic, lawless brawl, the pig-headed strongman finally smashed a stretch of wall several li long with a single hammer blow, seized a bird‑headed man, shoved him into his mouth and chewed him up, then, grudgingly, led a gang of boar demons whose bones were broken and tendons torn back to his own castle.
The golden flower great sparrow perched on the great tree of Blood Prison Mountain shouted "ji ga" in curses, jumping up and down, it cursed the pig-headed strongman's father and mother, all the way back to his thirty‑sixth generation ancestors.
On this side, after the pig‑head versus bird‑head clash had just ended, over a hundred li away a castle occupied by a flock of sheep demons actually launched an attack on the neighboring castle dominated by wolf demons.
Tens of thousands of giant mountain goats, each tens of zhang long, with copper heads, iron foreheads, and paired horns coiled like silver, bellowed "mie mie", raising black whirlwinds as they charged and struck the castle occupied by the wolf demons.
On the walls, the wolf demons wailed like they had lost their parents: "Save us, these crazy sheep are coming again… save us… sheep eating wolves, how unjust!"
With a booming crash, the stretch of wall recently filled with rammed earth was smashed to pieces by these frenzied goats; the mad goats stormed into the castle, its four gates flung open, hundreds of thousands of wolf‑headed strongmen, or still in original wolf form, drooled and wailed "wawa" miserably as they fled the castle in utter disarray.
The sound of cracking never ceased; countless wolf demons were smashed by these frenzied goats, their bones broken and tendons torn, they fell to the ground twitching uncontrollably.
These goats stepped with a hoof on the wounded wolf demons, bared their ferocious fangs, and with a few crunching bites they tore the wolf demons apart, blood flooding the ground as they died on the spot.
A line of exceptionally stout weasels formed a straight‑rank formation, eyes fixed straight ahead as they slipped past the battlefield of the goats and wolves; many of the weasels had in their mouths eggs the size of water tanks.
A huge flock of hens with splendid, iridescent feathers like five‑colored clouds clucked "ge ge ge", flapping their wings, eyes blood‑red, they surged out of the distant mountain forests, desperately chasing after the weasels.
A few weasels with chicken feathers still hanging from their mouths let out a howl, whereupon large numbers of weasels turned and followed them, marching to meet the flock of old hens.
Dozens of extraordinarily fat, huge old hens, their pupils spewing demonic aura several zhang long, swiftly waved their claws, leading the great flock of hens in a frenzied scratching and clawing at the weasels.
Since ancient times, weasels whose profession was eating chickens were instantly beaten back, each one caught and covered in blood, shrieking shrilly as they turned and fled.
The hen army, mighty and high‑spirited, likewise kept their eyes straight as they passed through the goat‑wolf battlefield, relentlessly pursuing the weasels that carried chicken eggs in their mouths.
Roars, bellows, and the curses, taunts of the great demons who had taken human form echoed through the clouds.
The entire region around Blood Prison Mountain was shrouded in dark, polluted mist; this kind of slaughter and devouring among different tribes had become the "daily entertainment" of Blood Prison Mountain.
Suddenly a high‑pitched gong rang out; huge flocks of thumb‑sized, human‑headed, bird‑bodied hummingbirds shot through the air like arrows, screaming shrilly: "The troops are coming! The troops are coming!"
Some of the younger‑looking hummingbirds strained their throats and shouted: "The Eagle Dogs and lackeys of the Fire Dynasty are back, brothers… elders…"
A few small but extremely swift hawks swooped down from the sky and killed on the spot those outspoken hummingbirds.
"Eagle Dogs and lackeys? Pah!"
